Upper Hutt Salvation Army

Upper Hutt Salvation Army The Salvation Army in Upper Hutt is a church with a community ministries (social services) arm. Come and join us, we'd love to see you there!

Our mission is to care for people, transform lives and reform society through God in Christ by the Holy Spirit's power. We are a church that meets every Sunday morning at 10.30am at 695 Fergusson Drive in Upper Hutt. Part of our work in the community is through our Community Ministries Programme. We aim to meet peoples immediate needs, then empower them with the life skills necessary to improve t

heir lives by connecting people to our corps/church. With the help of volunteers we are able to help with literacy, counselling, community meals, cooking classes, budgeting, advocacy, referrals to Bridge programme and a food bank.

What an amazing Sunday we had!

The Salvation Army New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga & Samoa Youth Band truly blessed us, not only with amazing music but with an amazing sermon from Italy-Grace Collings!

We know for certain there were many proud parents, grandparents and friends/family in the building supporting their loved ones!
Majors Shane and Chris certainly had proud dad smiles on their face’s!

We are grateful for the ministry these young people are bringing across our territory, and for the way they continue to serve and sacrifice through both music and community service that they have demonstrated here in Upper Hutt this weekend.

Please continue to pray for our young people in their service, sacrifice, ministry, music and walk with God and for those that walk alongside them in this space.

Tired? Weary? Burnt out? Come anyway- the National Youth Band will do the rest.

(And the cat’s already claimed the flyers, so you know it’s important.)

What a wonderful service on Joy on Sunday.

As we travelled through both joy and sadness as grief continues to find its way into our corps Major Shane spoke on Joy and how we can find that deep rooted Joy in Jesus.

“Less of me + more of Jesus = joy complete”

Massive Thank You to our amazing volunteers especially our superstar collectors who stood out there rain, shine and cold for 14+ hours over the course of the week!

As we approach the weekend, Mother’s Day draws closer.

For many Mother’s Day is a celebration, an honouring of someone who gave them life or raised them.

For many though it’s a painful reminder of hurt, of trauma, infertility and more.

For many they will hold someone else’s child this Mother’s Day and wonder if the little one will ever celebrate Mother’s Day with the one who gave them life.

For many they will hide their pain and put a smile on their face as they navigate a childless world.

For many they will be reminded of the pain of loosing a child or Mother.

Mother’s Day isn’t as simple as celebrating their mums. And we recognise that and stand with them.

On Sunday we will be honouring the Women in our Corps, and family.

Please join us at 10:30am, we stand with you regardless of which category you fall into.
