We seek much more than to build Bethlehem Baptist Church, we seek to build a community of believers. BBC Started in 1988 when a few people got together in a home to study the bible and worship. A few years after that Craig & Michaela came on staff and have stuck around, along with a tonne of other people along the way. The culture of BBC has always been about loving God, then loving people. These

fundamentals don't change, and you can feel it when you walk in. These days BBC is quite a large community, over 2500 people. A lot of people are involved with serving on some level behind the scenes which helps us all get to know each other. Our size also gives us the opportunity to run great events for the wider Tauranga community like Easter Journey & A Night Before Christmas and many smaller events. People also connect in smaller numbers with three Sunday services including a night service, seminars and home groups, Mainly Music and loads more. Youth and children are a huge deal for us so we give them their own space on Sunday and throughout the week. This Sunday we’re gathering as a church whānau for worship, prayer, God’s Word, and community, and we’d love you to be part of it.

It’s also Father’s Day, so we want to take a moment to celebrate and thank the fathers, grandfathers, father figures, mentors, and men who faithfully encourage, guide, serve, and invest in the lives of others.

People from across Tauranga are invited to gather for a night of worship and unified prayer this Sunday evening. This is part of the 24-7 Global Week of Prayer, a worldwide movement calling the Church to unite in non-stop prayer, lifting up the name of Jesus in every nation.

Whom Jesus sets free, He also restores.

This Sunday, Monica Carey continued our Mark: Encounters with Jesus series with the story of a man whose life had been completely overtaken by darkness. Isolated, tormented and beyond the help of those around him, he was the person everyone else had given up on. But Jesus crossed the lake for him. With a word, Jesus broke the power that had held him captive. And the next time we see the man, he is sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind.

It’s a powerful reminder that Jesus doesn’t only forgive us, He came to set us free. Freedom begins when we bring what has been hidden into the light. Then, like this man, we have a story to tell: what the Lord has done for us and how He has shown us mercy.

What if one of the places we’re most likely to encounter Jesus is somewhere as ordinary as the table?

This Sunday, we continued our series with the story of Levi. Where everyone else saw a tax collector. Jesus saw Levi. He called him by name, invited him to follow, and then sat down at his table surrounded by people others had already written off. It’s a beautiful picture of the heart of Jesus. He meets us in ordinary places, sees beyond the labels we carry, and welcomes us before we have everything together. And then He invites us to do the same. Who could you make room for at your table this week?

What if the thing you most want Jesus to fix isn’t actually the thing you need most? This Sunday, guest speaker Rob Stacey continued our Mark: Encounters with Jesus series with the story of the paralysed man lowered through a roof by his friends. Everyone could see his obvious need, but Jesus looked deeper and said, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” Before Jesus is a miracle worker, He is our Saviour. He cares about our circumstances, but He also sees beneath our “if onlys” to the places in our hearts that need His forgiveness, freedom and grace. And sometimes, like the friends in this story, we’re called to carry someone else towards Jesus with persistent, creative, roof-ripping faith.What might Jesus be putting His finger on in your life this week?

Sundays That Make a Difference 🙌

There’s a lot to love about Sundays at BBC. We worship together, open God’s Word, share life with one another, and sometimes get a front-row seat to life-changing moments like baptisms, as people publicly declare their faith in Jesus. 💧

And none of it happens without an incredible team of people serving behind the scenes and out front. So, an extra shout-out this week to all our volunteers who turn up early, stay late, welcome people, care for our kids, make coffee, run tech, lead worship, and even stand outside helping people find a car park when the weather isn’t playing nice! 🌧️ You help make BBC a place where people can encounter Jesus and find community. Thank you!

"If you are willing, you can make me clean." These were the words of a man who had spent years on the outside , isolated by leprosy, by shame, by rejection. He knew what Jesus could do. He never dared assume Jesus would draw near to do it. Jesus could have healed him from a distance, a word would have been enough. Instead, He moved closer. He reached out. He touched him. It's a powerful reminder that the way Jesus treated people then is the way He treats us now. We don't come to a reluctant Saviour. Jesus knows our hurt, our shame, the places we'd rather hide, and He meets us there with compassion and grace. And having received that grace, we're invited to extend it to others too.
