Bethlehem Baptist Church

Bethlehem Baptist Church A big church in a good way. We are all about encouraging people, real community, and encountering God every day. Sound familiar?

We seek much more than to build Bethlehem Baptist Church, we seek to build a community of believers. BBC Started in 1988 when a few people got together in a home to study the bible and worship. A few years after that Craig & Michaela came on staff and have stuck around, along with a tonne of other people along the way. The culture of BBC has always been about loving God, then loving people. These

fundamentals don't change, and you can feel it when you walk in. These days BBC is quite a large community, over 2500 people. A lot of people are involved with serving on some level behind the scenes which helps us all get to know each other. Our size also gives us the opportunity to run great events for the wider Tauranga community like Easter Journey & A Night Before Christmas and many smaller events. People also connect in smaller numbers with three Sunday services including a night service, seminars and home groups, Mainly Music and loads more. Youth and children are a huge deal for us so we give them their own space on Sunday and throughout the week. Who Are Your Three?

As Alpha approaches, we're beginning with something simple, but powerful: prayer.

Who are three people in your life who might benefit from exploring faith, asking questions, or hearing about Jesus?

A friend.
A family member.
A neighbour.
A workmate.

Over the coming weeks, our church family is committing to pray for three people each day at 11:02am, inspired by Jesus' words in Luke 11:2:

"Your Kingdom come."

We believe God is already at work in people's lives. As we pray, we're asking Him to open hearts, create opportunities for conversations, and prepare the way for invitations to Alpha.

Prayer is essential and can be very simple. This week, Luke Waterhouse unpacked the words “Hallowed be Your name” from the Lord’s Prayer, reminding us that prayer begins not with our needs, but with God’s greatness. To hallow God’s name means to honour, revere, and set Him apart as holy above all else. Jesus teaches us to come to God with awe and worship, recognising His character, His power, and His worthiness. Prayer does not need to be complicated; it is simply coming before our Heavenly Father, acknowledging who He is and drawing near to Him. In a world full of distractions and challenges, we are reminded of our deep need for prayer as a vital part of our relationship with God. https://bethbapchurch.churchcenter.com/episodes/693253

What a fantastic start to Eat Pray Grow! 🍽️🙏🌱

On Sunday evening, our church family gathered around tables to share a meal, connect with one another, and begin a four-week journey of growing as apprentices of Jesus through the practices of Prayer, Sabbath, Service, Witness, and Scripture.

The room was filled with conversation, laughter, and meaningful connection. One of the highlights was seeing people of all ages learning, sharing, and growing together. It was a beautiful reminder that following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, served, prepared food, and helped make the evening such a welcoming and encouraging experience.

We're excited for what God has in store over the coming weeks as we continue to eat together, pray together, and grow together. 🌱

💙 Thank You, BBC Whānau! 💙

We are overwhelmed by the incredible support of our BBC whānau. Our Family Movie Night Fundraiser was a resounding success, and it was so special to see families, young and old, coming together to enjoy a night at the movies while supporting a meaningful cause.

Because of your support, whether you came along to the movies, sponsored a soft toy, made a donation, or simply prayed for the team, we are now able to bless children and ministries in the Philippines through the initiatives we will be involved with alongside Ruel Foundation.

A huge thank you to our KidsChurch and Phase teams who pulled the movie night together, and to the many volunteers who gave their time, energy, and enthusiasm to make the evening such a success.

Thank you for partnering with us and helping make a real difference.
With gratitude,
The Philippines Team

This Sunday we began our new series, When You Pray, by exploring the opening words of the Lord’s Prayer: “Our Father in heaven.” Monica Carey reminded us that prayer is not primarily about performance, religious ritual, or saying the right words. At its heart, prayer is about relationship. Before teaching His disciples what to pray, Jesus taught them how not to pray. Prayer is not about impressing others or trying to earn God’s attention through endless words. Instead, Jesus invites us to come honestly and personally before God. Knowing that He already knows our needs and delights in meeting with us like a compassionate Father who loves His children deeply and is as near as the air we breathe. https://bethbapchurch.churchcenter.com/episodes/688273

Bring the whole whānau along for a fun evening featuring two family-friendly movies, GOAT and David, along with popcorn, snacks, and plenty of community spirit.

🗓 Friday 12 June
⏰ 6:00pm–8:30pm
📍 Bethlehem Baptist Church

Entry is free, with optional donations available during registration or on the night.

This year, funds raised will help bless children connected with Ruel Foundation in the Philippines by giving them the opportunity to enjoy a special movie outing and dinner together, something that is not a normal experience for many of them.

On the night you can also get involved with our Soft Toy Sponsorship Initiative where you can sponsor a soft toy with a personalized t-shirt for a child at Ruel Foundation. For many of these children, having something chosen especially for them is deeply meaningful. Our hope is that these soft toys become lasting reminders that they are seen, known, and deeply loved by God.

Whether you come for the movies, sponsor a soft toy, make a donation, or simply pray for the team, every contribution helps make a meaningful difference.

As we step into new seasons in life, it is easy to focus on and become intimidated by all the unknowns ahead. Monica reminded us that before Israel stepped into the Promised Land, God called them to stop and remember after crossing the Jordan river. They build a monument out of twelve stones taken from the river as they walked through on dry land not just as a memorial to the past but to remind them and the future generations of God’s everlasting faithfulness. Likewise, we also can look ahead with confidence, not because we know exactly what the future holds, but because we know the God who has led us this far. The same God who has guided, provided for, and sustained us through every past season is still writing our story. https://bethbapchurch.churchcenter.com/episodes/684154
