It is with deep sadness, but also with immense gratitude, that we announce the passing of Pastor Julie Steele this past Thursday evening.
Pastors John and Julie faithfully served as leaders of New Life Churches for many years. Together, they poured their lives into building God’s Kingdom, strengthening churches, encouraging pastors, and loving people with genuine compassion and unwavering faith. Their leadership left a lasting impact on countless lives in New Zealand and around the world.
Julie was a woman of grace, wisdom, and deep faith. She had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and encouraged. Whether through her gentle words, heartfelt prayers, or faithful service, she reflected the love of Christ in a beautiful and authentic way.
John and Julie ministered at RNLC pretty much every year for the last 30 years until health prevented them doing so.
Although the past few years brought challenges with her health, Julie’s legacy will never be defined by her illness, she will instead be remembered for the life she lived, the faith she carried, the people she loved, and the hope she shared.
Our hearts are with John and the entire family as they mourn the loss of a beloved wife, mother, nana, great nana and recently a great great nana, a beautiful friend, and leader. We pray her family will know God’s comfort and peace in the days ahead.

Julie, thank you for your faithful example, your servant heart, and the difference you made in so many lives. You have finished your race well, and we rejoice in the assurance that you are now in the presence of your Saviour.
