Kia ora e te whānau!

Please note there will be no service at Wairarapa Corps this Sunday.

Instead, we’d love for you to join us as churches from across the Wairarapa gather together to celebrate Pentecost!

This Sunday
10AM
Wairarapa College Hall

We’re also excited to have guest speaker Rev Caleb Rowe with us, National Leader for New Wine NZ - it’s going to be a powerful morning together, so be in the house!

There will be kids programmes and a creche available, so bring the whole whānau and come worship together as one Church.

A huge thank you to Equippers Church for hosting and creating such a beautiful, peaceful space for 24/7 prayer this week as we prepare our hearts for Pentecost. It has truly been a blissful place to sit in the presence of the Lord.

If you haven’t yet had a chance to visit the prayer space or book a slot, the link is: https://pray.24-7prayer.com/signup/5d1d56

Calling all the ladies to come join us this Saturday evening✨️

We’d love to have you along for our Real Life Women’s Evening this Saturday 16 May, 6pm at The Salvation Army Wairarapa.

We’ll start with dinner, a chance to sit together, share kai, connect and enjoy some good company. Then we’ll hear from our special guest Rose Hotene.

Rose is a māmā of two, originally from Taranaki and now based in Flat Bush, serving with The Salvation Army as a Mission Officer. She carries such a genuine heart to see people encounter the love of Jesus — the kind of love that restores, heals, and brings hope.

She’ll be sharing her story - the real stuff. Life, addiction, overcoming hardship, and how God has met her through every season with grace and faithfulness.

Come along for a relaxed evening of connection, good company, and hearing a powerful story of hope and transformation. Bring a friend, bring a sister - all are welcome.🫶🏼

Last week was our annual Red Shield Street Appeal, and what a week it was!🎉

Thank you to our 39 wonderful collectors who gave their time across Wairarapa: Masterton, Carterton, Greytown, and Featherston.

Thank you to our seven collection sites for opening your doors to us: The Warehouse Masterton, Woolworths Masterton, New World Masterton, Mitre 10 Masterton, New World Carterton, FreshChoice Greytown, and FreshChoice Featherston.

Thank you to the wonderful Fernridge School for holding a non-uniform day to support the appeal for another year!

Thank you to all our staff and volunteers including at our Family Stores in Masterton and Carterton for supporting and collecting on top of what you already do. To those who were working behind the scenes, even weeks before the appeal to prepare and help everything run smoothly.

And finally, a special thank you to our amazing community here in the Wairarapa - for your generosity, your conversations, and your support. Every single bit helps, and we are so grateful for your giving, which helps support the wrap around services provided through The Salvation Army for whānau in need.

Together, we make a difference. ❤️

Hari Rā Māmā 💐

Such a beautiful family day at our Sallies Playhouse playgroup this morning as we honoured our incredible mums, aunty mums, grandmothers, and all the family members who make our playgroup community such a special place of connection, fun, and growth for our tamariki and whānau.

It was so sweet seeing all the tamariki bring along their favourite teddy bears for our teddy bears picnic and song time! There were lots of smiles all around. 🧸

A big thank you to Helen, Bruce, Maria and the team for all you do every week, to create such a welcoming space where whānau can belong together. We’re grateful for the love and care you pour into our community. 🐝

Today our young people led such a beautiful Mother’s Day service! 💐

They prayed for all women, especially those who Mother’s Day may not be easy for. They prayed for women who had loving Mothers and for those who didn’t. They prayed for women whose Mothers are no longer with us, and gave thanks for the mothers doing it alone, foster mothers, aunty mothers, and spiritual mothers who help shape and nurture lives with love and care. ❤️

Our young people also led a skit about “the cost” - the cost parents carry and what children sometimes think they’re owed 😂, then they pointed us to the one who paid the ultimate price for us all: Jesus 🙌🏼

They then interviewed five Mothers about their motherhood journey: the joys, challenges, lessons learnt, how they overcame difficult seasons, and the biblical women and scriptures that inspired them along the way. There were tears, laughter, wisdom, and so much encouragement shared across generations.

We finished the day gathered together over a wonderful lunch served by our incredible men in the kitchen this morning. What a special day celebrating the strength, faith, love, and sacrifice of the women and mothers in our lives. 🌸

What an incredible few days we’ve just experienced as we hosted the Manukau Youth Team and Officers here in the Wairarapa for a 4-day mission trip.

From the moment they arrived on Thursday afternoon, there was a strong sense of whanaungatanga. We welcomed, we gathered, shared a meal, and simply enjoyed being together - laying a foundation of relationship that would carry through the entire weekend.

On Friday, the team joined our Boots on the Ground team, serving at Fernridge School. The Principal shared they were blown away by the manaakitangi and kaitiakitanga in action shown to their school community. It was such a beautiful expression of faith lived out through service.

That evening, the team poured into our tamariki and rangatahi, leading both Junior Youth and Youth Group. It was powerful to see our young people connecting so naturally and being encouraged in their faith.

Saturday was a full and faith-filled day. In the morning, we split into teams and visited local schools, taking time to prayerfully stand in the gap for the young people of this region and the challenges they face. There was a deep sense that God is moving and that He cares deeply for this generation.

In the afternoon, Pastor Niko fired us up for evangelism, and we stepped out in boldness, connecting with people around town, including Queen Elizabeth Park and the skate park. It was a powerful time of stepping beyond comfort zones and simply being present, available, and led by the Spirit.

Saturday night was a highlight, with a vibrant youth-led service filled with joy, worship, and a real sense of God’s presence. Sarah O’Brien shared a heartfelt and impactful message about living by faith, not by sight - testifying to how God showed up for her time and time again, even through seasons where she drifted off path. Her honesty and faith stirred something deep in the room.

On Sunday, the team continued to lead, blessing our Corps during the morning service. Captain Andrew O’Brien carried forward our Ephesians series, bringing a strong and timely word about being formed in Christ for relationships.

One of the most special parts of this mission was seeing our young people fully immersed in the experience. Over the four nights, they camped together at the Corps, building friendships, sharing life, and being deeply encouraged. Watching them witness older youth walking confidently in their gifts, serving with humility and leadership, was incredibly powerful. Seeds have been sown that will continue to grow.🙌🏼

We are so grateful for the Manukau team - for their willingness to come, to serve, to love, and to invest into our community. We look forward to continuing to build relationship and connection, especially among our young people.

God is moving. God is faithful. God is GOOD!
