The Need for New Wine || Apostle Stephen Gachengo || 28 June 2026 ||
Apostle Stephen opened the message by encouraging the church to remain hungry for God, allowing Him to ignite a fresh fire in our hearts. He challenged us to desire to grow in Christ and to faithfully serve in whatever God has called us to do.
Using Luke 5:37–39, Apostle Stephen taught that God's "new wine" cannot be poured into old wineskins. The new life, revelation, and work of the Holy Spirit require transformed hearts that are willing to let go of old ways and embrace God's renewing work.
He explained that God desires to reveal hidden treasures to His people, but revelation comes to those with pure hearts. We must become new vessels, allowing the old nature to die so that we can carry the life and character of Christ. As Romans 12:2 teaches, transformation begins with the renewing of our minds.
Apostle Stephen emphasized that through the new covenant, Christianity is not merely about knowledge but about Christ living within us. The character of Jesus should be reflected in every area of our lives, and we cannot mix the old life with the new life that God offers.
He reminded the church that God removes our hearts of stone and gives us hearts of flesh. God desires to renew our hearts, our character, our service, and our entire lives so that we become useful vessels for His Kingdom.
The church was encouraged to seek God's Kingdom first and faithfully serve Him, trusting that He will provide for every need. Holding on to old habits, worldly systems, and human understanding prevents us from receiving the fullness of what God wants to do in us.
In closing, Apostle Stephen urged us to reject old habits and embrace God's transforming grace. We must become renewed vessels that carry the Gospel with purity, allowing Christ—not tradition or the old system—to shape our lives. As 2 Timothy 2:21 teaches, a cleansed and renewed vessel is prepared for every good work and fit for the Master's use.
