MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE AND PRAYERS FOLLOWING THE FIRE TRAGEDY AT UTUMISHI GIRLS ACADEMY, NAKURU COUNTY.

The Methodist Church in Kenya is deeply grieved by the tragic fire incident at Utumishi Girls Academy that has claimed the lives of innocent young learners and left others injured.

On behalf of the Methodist Church in Kenya, I extend heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families, relatives, friends, and the entire school fraternity during this season of sorrow and anguish. Losing young lives in such a painful manner is devastating, and we pray that God, in His mercy and love, will uphold and comfort all those affected.

We also remember in prayer the students and all others who suffered injuries and trauma as a result of this tragedy. May the Lord grant them healing, courage, and full recovery as they undergo treatment and emotional restoration.

This unfortunate incident calls for renewed commitment from all stakeholders to ensure that schools remain safe environments for our children. We urge the relevant authorities to carry out comprehensive investigations and take the necessary measures to safeguard learners and prevent future occurrences of such heartbreaking disasters.

As a Church, we stand together with the affected families and the nation in mourning and prayer, trusting God to give strength and hope even in this difficult hour.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

**Title:** "The Treasure in Us"

**Text:** 2 Corinthians 4:7

**Introduction:**
Have you ever stopped to think about the things that are most valuable to you? Maybe it's your family, your health, your relationships, or your possessions. These things can be precious to us, but today, we're going to talk about a treasure that's even more valuable than all of these things combined.

**The Problem:**
As humans, we often struggle with our own limitations and fragilities. We're like jars of clay - fragile, vulnerable, and prone to breaking. But despite these weaknesses, God has put a treasure within us. This treasure is not just something we possess; it's who we are in Christ.

**The Treasure:**
The treasure in jars of clay is the presence of God in our lives. It's the Holy Spirit living within us, guiding us, empowering us, and transforming us into the likeness of Christ. This treasure is not something we can earn or achieve; it's a gift from God.

**The Significance:**
The fact that this treasure is housed in jars of clay is significant. It reminds us that our strength and power come not from ourselves, but from God. It's a reminder that we're not sufficient in ourselves, but that Christ lives in us and through us.

**The Implication:**
So what does this mean for us? It means that we don't have to rely on our own strength or abilities to get things done. We can trust that God is working through us, even when we feel weak or inadequate. It means that we can rest in His presence and power, knowing that He is our rock and our salvation.

**The Application:**
As we go about our daily lives, let's remember that we're not just ordinary people; we're jars of clay with a treasure within us. Let's trust in God's power and provision, rather than our own abilities. Let's surrender to Him and allow Him to work through us, even when we feel weak or uncertain.

**Conclusion:**
So let's celebrate the treasure that God has placed within us. Let's trust in His power and provision, and let's live out our lives as vessels of His glory. For when we do, we'll find that His all-surpassing power is truly at work in and through us.

Prayer keeps your heart open to God’s work, even when answers don’t come the way you imagined.

God hears every prayer and responds with wisdom beyond your understanding.

Keep praying, stay faithful, and trust that His answers—seen or unseen—are always working for your good.

“Never stop praying. Sometimes, God’s answer comes
in ways you never expect.” — Luke 18:1Even when the road feels blocked and the season feels final, God is not finished. He specializes in new beginnings and unexpected breakthroughs.

Hold on to hope, trust His timing, and believe that God is already preparing a way forward—one filled with purpose, renewal, and grace.

“Never lose hope. Just when you think it’s over, God will make a new way.” — Isaiah 43:18

Today’s Prayer 🙏

Heavenly Father, we Thank You for Your Favor and Lovingkindness that sustain us through each day. As evening comes, we rest under Your banner of love and hide in the shadow of Your wings. Bless our homes and families, establish the work of our hands, and teach us to number our days with wisdom. May Your beauty be upon us always.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
