The permanent Anglican presence in Rome, representing the Archbishop of Canterbury to the Holy See and promoting dialogue between Anglicans and Roman Catholics. The Anglican Centre has provided a permanent Anglican presence in Rome, ensured that the Archbishop of Canterbury has an ‘on-the-spot’ representative to the Holy See, and welcomed innumerable pilgrims and scholars. The Centre has enabled t

he building of mature relationships between the Anglican Communion and the Catholic Church, and supported the theological dialogue between the two. Locally, the Centre works closely with other denominations here in Rome, most especially with the Methodist Ecumenical Office, Rome and the representative of the Patriarch of Constantinople. Today, building on the momentous progress in pursuing its mission to promote Christian unity in a divided world, the Centre is developing in a number of ways which include:

* Educational courses - for laity, clergy and those in training
* Hospitality – the Centre welcomes visitors from across the globe; last year alone over 2,500 people from 16 countries and five continents visited the Centre
* Prayer – the Centre sustains a community of clergy and laity offering prayer for unity and reconciliation between the Churches
* Common Witness – the Centre pioneers an ecumenical approach to tackling social injustices of our world, particularly in relation to modern day slavery and human trafficking.

The Holy See has released the first papal encyclical by Pope Leo XIV, titled ‘Magnifica Humanitas: On Safeguarding the Human Person in the Time of Artificial Intelligence’, which invites reflection on the ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on war, relationships and the battle between good and evil.

How can I pray for the world this summer?

In our weekly services, we use the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, produced every few years by our colleagues in the Anglican Communion Office in London to help people to pray for over 800 dioceses and 42 provinces in more than 165 countries.

The current version has been encouraging daily prayer since September 2023 and concludes in December this year. Why not pick up a copy over the summer and spend time in your personal prayers to remember the leaders, people and needs of the places mentioned?

You can start anywhere and June's list takes readers on a journey through Korea to Tanzania, Uganda, Melanesia, Pakistan, North India, South Sudan, Kenya, México, Australia, Burundi, Myanmar, Southern Africa, Angola, and Mozambique.

Who knows what God can do with the words we bring before him?

We are delighted to welcome back The Rt. Rev. Austin K. Rios, former Rector of St. Paul’s and now Bishop of California, who will preach at this special service.

The Rt. Rev. Mark D. W. Edington, Bishop in Charge of the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe, will preside.

Following Evening Prayer, all are invited to a reception and commemorative presentation as we give thanks for 150 years of worship, hospitality, service, and witness in the heart of Rome.

As we honor our past, we also look forward to the future God is calling us to build together.
