Fr. Cesare Vaiani, a Franciscan friar of the Order of Friars Minor and a priest, has been engaged for many years in the study and teaching of spiritual theology and Franciscan spirituality.
For more than thirty years, his academic and research work has focused in particular on spiritual theology, the history of spirituality, and the Christian experience of Francis of Assisi. He has devoted numerous publications to these subjects, also exploring the relationship between Francis and Clare, the Rule, the Writings of Francis, and several fundamental aspects of the Franciscan tradition.
It is from this long journey of study, teaching, and research that we meet Fr. Cesare Vaiani to reflect on the meaning of Franciscan spirituality today, on the figure of Francis of Assisi, and on the possibility of translating that spiritual experience into the contemporary world.
"This is what ultimately puts everyone at ease when approaching Saint Francis; they do not see him as someone standing on a pedestal, but as someone who comes and goes alongside them as a brother and a 'minor'." - Fr. Vaiani
