“For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” (2 Timothy 1:12 KJV)

In what is our confidence based? Or more importantly in whom is our confidence? In the midst of suffering and when trouble comes where is your assurance? The apostle Paul was fully persuaded (by the work of the Holy Spirit demonstrated by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ) that God will keep His promises to us. He had trusted his life, his soul, and eternal interests, to the Lord Jesus. No one else could deliver and secure his soul through the trials of life and death. There is a day coming, when our souls hope will be revealed. The hope of the lowest real Christian rests on the same foundation as that of the great apostle. He also has learned the value and the danger of his soul; he also has believed in Christ; and the change made in his soul, convinces the believer that the Lord Jesus will keep him to his heavenly kingdom.

We believe that Scripture is living powerful and the way that God brings us to Faith. (2 Tim 3:16, Rom 10:13). Do you believe the Word of God? If so do you not only hear it, but are you doing what it says? (James 1:22).

“But godliness with contentment is great gain.” (1 Timothy 6:6 KJV)

The world strive after many things in the pursuit of happiness and fulfillment. They believe that obtain power, position, possessions, relationships, or education will bring purpose and their self-actuality. However, when we see what Scripture says brings great gain and our lives it is counter to this path. It begins with godliness. We are created in the image of God, the penalty of sin has taken away the reality of this for most people; however, for those in Christ we have been reconciled and restored to this reality. Having God restore our soul and enliven our spirit, which brings godliness in our lives, is not merely gain, but "great means of gain": not the gaining which they pursue, and which makes men to be discontented with their present possessions, and to use religion as "a cloak of covetousness" (1Th 2:5) and means of earthly gain, but the present and eternal gain which piety, whose accompaniment is contentment, secures to the soul. Contentment, literally, "having a sufficiency in one's self" independent of others. "The Lord always supplies His people with what is necessary for them. True happiness lies in piety, but this sufficiency [supplied by God, with which His people are content] is thrown into the scale as a kind of overweight". What are you pursuing, if we pursue our happiness it will lead to discontentment, but if we pursue godliness it will lead to contentment which is great gain of happiness. Stand against the ways of the world and follow Him.

“The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.” (Psalm 97:1 KJV)

When all the things of the world seem to be contrary to the truth and to good. When evil seems to triumph and overthrow those the things of God. The truth of this verse gives a surety and Hope. This fact; that God is Sovereign and He reigns as King of kings allows us to have a confidence that brings true joy. In all our conflicts and troubles we can hold the hand (clinging for life) of the Creator and King. Death has no power, the grave no curse. (1 COR 15:55). Satan’s end is determined. Even our sin and the judgement against us has been covered by the blood of Christ. In this truth we have confidence and we can live in peace and gladness, looking forward to the day when our faith becomes sight and we are in Heaven, where there is no doubt of the Sovereignty of the eternal King. Whatever we face today we can rejoice, for this is His will for us in Christ Jesus. (1 Thess 5:17)

“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent”. (John 17:3 KJV)

Our eternal life is not based upon a future, though we look forward to Heaven and then promise of glory. It is rooted in the reality of having a secure knowledge and relationship with God today. As Jesus prayed He declared the purpose of the prayer and the mechanism by which it is accomplished. This life eternal, then, is not mere conscious and unending existence, but a life of close relationship with God in Christ (Job 22:21). There is only one God (compared to the polytheism of that day). Today, we wrestle with the question, does God exist? This is the assurance of this fact. And it is sealed in the person of Jesus Christ, who then will be the sacrifice to fulfill this promise. Eternal life could not be given to believers, unless Christ, their Surety, both glorified the Father, and was glorified of him. This is the sinner's way to eternal life, and when this knowledge shall be made perfect, holiness and happiness will be fully enjoyed. God sent the Son for this purpose (John 3:17). Who has believed and followed? Whosoever will shall
Be saved and have the certainty of eternal life.
