🌊 JOIN THE SEASON OF CREATION 2026: LIVING WATER

From September 1 to October 4, Christians throughout the world come together for the Season of Creation—a special ecumenical season of prayer and action for our common home.

This year’s theme is “Living Water,” inspired by Ezekiel 47:1–12: the beautiful vision of life-giving water flowing from the temple, restoring barren lands, reviving waters, and allowing life to flourish wherever it flows. The 2026 symbol, “Immersion in Living Water,” calls us not simply to observe the ecological crisis from a distance, but to immerse ourselves more deeply in the work of healing and renewing Creation.

Living Laudato Si’ Philippines invites dioceses, parishes, religious communities, schools, universities, Basic Ecclesial Communities, families, youth groups, ecological ministries, civil society organizations, and communities across the Philippines to join this global celebration.

💧 Pray with and for Creation.
💧 Reflect on our relationship with God, one another, and our common home.
💧 Protect our rivers, watersheds, forests, seas, biodiversity, and communities.
💧 Act for climate and ecological justice, especially alongside the poor and those most affected by environmental destruction.

As Pope Francis reminds us in Laudato Si’, “The entire material universe speaks of God’s love, his boundless affection for us” (LS 84).

Let this Season become more than a celebration. May it deepen our ecological conversion and move us from prayer to concrete action.

Together, let us make Living Water flow—in our churches, homes, schools, communities, and in our commitment to care for our common home.

1 September marks the beginning of the Season of Creation and is observed by many Christians as Creation Day. The Feast of Creation in Christ may be celebrated on 1 September or on the first Sunday in September.

While many churches mark this season through worship and prayer, individuals, families and small groups can also take part through personal prayer, reflection and Bible study.

Despite the heat we were able to worship in good voice and good spirit.

So delighted to welcome eight children in our worship today. The Chaplain is hoping that her brief attempt to walk on water (bottles) will help them remember the Gospel message.

Delighted to have welcomed visiting pilgrims and our own regulars to St Leonard's today. The gathered crowd were reminded of the miracle of Jesus feeding the 5000, prompting each of us to share our own offering.

Today, 25 July, the Church remembers James the Apostle, one of the first disciples called by Jesus and one of the sons of Zebedee.

In the Gospel, Jesus teaches his disciples that greatness in the kingdom of God is not found in status, power or honour, but in service. James and the other disciples are invited to learn a different way of life, shaped by humility and self giving love. To follow Christ is not to seek the highest place, but to walk the way of service.

As we remember James, we give thanks for all who follow Christ with courage, faithfulness and a willingness to serve.

Scripture reading: Matthew 20:25–28

‘Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them.

It will not be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave;

just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.”’

Prayer

Servant Lord,
you call us to follow you in humility and love.
Teach us to seek not status or power,
but the way of faithful service.
Give us the courage of James,
to walk with Christ wherever he leads,
and to offer our lives in witness to your kingdom.

Amen.
