All Saints Church at the Heart of the Community in Thelwall
We are all getting ready for the Rose Queen celebrations, and this year the church will have a walking float and also a stand on the field, showing what we are doing as part of the community, hosting events like the Easter Egg Hunt, Quizzes and the Bonfire, as well as maintaining the Grade II listed church building, and providing a quiet space in the churchyard where anyone can come and find a little peace amongst the natural world.
You can help keep the church open and support the “Heart of the Thelwall Community” – surely that’s worth the price of a cup of
coffee? If you can afford a regular amount per week or a one off donation to support the church, then use the QR code, or this link: https://givealittle.co/c/421KRLIZ0Sccv2vmqCudV0
And the best thing is if you Gift Aid it then we can recover the
Income Tax you’ve paid on your donation!

Editorial
June glorious June! Obviously I have no idea what the weather will be doing in June as I’m writing this mid May but I am confident that regardless we will all be having a glorious time when it comes to the Rose Queen. Thank you Millie for your excellent service this year and for doing such a good job of supporting Jenny into the role.
Jenny we all hope you have a wonderful day and year celebrating all the various events and gatherings that make Thelwall so blooming fantastic (see what I did there?).
The mag is as usual full of opportunities to meet up and socialise, make a difference or feel purposeful. One of the things that I have taken up since retiring is Crown Green Bowling, I know, I thought it was just for gentlemen of a certain age as well but how wrong I was. I come across many people in their thirties and forties bowling and in one team they regularly have an eleven year old playing (and he usually wins!). If it’s something you would like to try then get in touch with a local club, I bowl at High Legh where I have been made to feel very welcome, there’s social bowling on a Wednesday afternoon if ever the sun is shining and you want to just turn up and see how you get on.
Later in the year we’re looking at doing an ‘Away Day’ type of event that everyone is invited to. It’s really hard to make something like that happen when you don’t know if anyone is interested. Our aim is to build a sense of belonging here in the village and hopefully support friendships to be formed. Chaigeley have very kindly offered the use of many of their facilities so along with our Parish Hall we have great venues available to use and a real willingness to put them to good use. Please email Frank if you’re interested in joining us for a little or all of what’s on offer. We would very much like to see you there.

Vicar’s Article: Christian Aid Week: Every Kindness Counts, Every Action Matters
Christian Aid’s vision is to create a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty.
And Christian Aid Week (10-16 May) is an invitation to be involved in making that vision a reality. It reminds us that small acts, like giving, praying, or simply spreading the Christian Aid message - can change lives far beyond our own village of Thelwall.
Whether you sponsor the Whittakers & Speeds on their walk, come to the coffee morning in church (14 May), or attend our Christian Aid service (17 May), you are part of something bigger: a shared hope rooted in love.
This year, why not take one simple step? A conversation, a donation, or a moment of prayer could make all the difference. Every kindness counts, and every action matters.

Thank you!
