Sacred Heart celebrated the Feast of the Assumption today with a rosary procession around the garden and singing Marian hymns.

Adoration with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament this Friday 7 August 9AM and every first friday of the month. Our prayer petitions are placed before the altar and then taken to Mass in Mayfield. Join us for a quiet hour of silent prayer and reflection.

A group of 12 parishioners from Wadhurst, Mayfield and Burwash have just returned from the diocesan pilgraimage to Lourdes with over 740 pilgrims. Petitions given to them at home were placed at the grotto and candles lit for all intentions.Bishop Richard joined the pilgrims for the first couple of days.

At 10am on Wednesday, all our Lourdes pilgrims will gather for Mass at the Grotto. It is a great privilege to be able to celebrate Mass in this holy place where Our Lady appeared and St Bernadette knelt to pray the Rosary with her.

Let us pray that we, like St Bernadette, we may be open to everything that Our Lord, through Our Lady of Lourdes, may ask of us.

Congratulations and welcome to our new Bishop

His Holiness Pope Leo XIV has today appointed Fr Stephen Wang as the new Bishop of Arundel & Brighton Diocese. On hearing of his appointment, Bishop-elect Stephen, said:

“This appointment has come as a huge surprise. I feel a mixture of gratitude and trepidation; an excitement and curiosity about all that lies ahead; and above all, a sense of peace. I’m grateful to Pope Leo for calling me and putting his trust in me, and to Archbishop Moth for all his care for the Diocese over these years. I’m sad to be leaving the Venerable English College, and the Diocese of Westminster. But I am overjoyed at the thought of coming to Arundel & Brighton, getting to know the people, and working together to build God’s Kingdom.”
