🔊 As we approach Yom Kippur, a time for reflection, renewal and strengthening our sense of who we are, we invite you to listen once again to the three powerful songs performed by Robert Marks at the Heaton Park Synagogue commemoration for the victims of the terrorist attack.

The order of the songs tells the story of the Jewish people.

🎵 Ve'hi She'amda reminds us that throughout every generation there have been those who sought to destroy us, yet we endure.

🎵 Shema Yisrael (by Sarit Hadad) is our collective cry of faith, turning to Hashem in moments of darkness, challenge and uncertainty.

🎵 Ani Maamin is the ultimate expression of hope, resilience and belief in a better future, words sung even in humanity's darkest chapter as Jews refused to surrender their faith or identity.

Together, these songs take us from persecution, to faith, to hope. They tell the story of our people and the story of our community.

As we prepare for the High Holy Days, let us stand tall and proud as Jews. Let us strengthen our commitment to our faith, our heritage, our community and one another. And let us ensure that the response to hatred is not fear, but unity, resilience and Jewish pride.

One meaningful way to do that is by supporting the Heaton Park Unity Sefer Torah, being written in memory of Melvin z'l and Adrian z'l, whose lives were taken in the Heaton Park terrorist attack. Every letter written is a declaration that Jewish life will continue, that our community stands together, and that light will always overcome darkness.

An important message from Yoni Finlay

Yoni was shot and survived the Heaton Park terrorist attack.

Since then, he has made it his mission to help ensure that Manchester’s Jewish community emerges stronger, more resilient, and determined not to let the horrific events of Yom Kippur define us.
