💙 KETTERING STREET PASTORS UPDATE 💙

This morning I had the privilege of giving a short presentation to Jobcentre Plus in Kettering after they invited us earlier this year to share about the work of Kettering Street Pastors.

It was great to talk about how our volunteers serve the community by caring, listening and helping, and there were plenty of thoughtful questions afterwards.

We are also delighted and honoured that Jobcentre Plus has chosen Kettering Street Pastors as their Charity of the Year. 💙

💙KETTERING STREET PASTORS – SATURDAY REPORT 💙
☀️ Saturday Morning
Kettering Town was buzzing! The sun was shining, and it was a beautiful day in Kettering.

🍭 Engagements took place at the bus stops, with lollipops handed out along the way.

🤝 We called in to the Foodbank and the team reported that it had been unusually quiet that morning. One volunteer was excitedly looking forward to her upcoming holiday.

🙏 At the Yards we enjoyed a conversation and prayed with a young lady whose father is very ill.

🎶 Market Square was beginning to fill up as KettFest got underway, with some excellent music already entertaining the crowds.

💬 We had many positive conversations with KettFest visitors and revellers throughout the morning.

🤝 We had a long and encouraging conversation with a male from a local church networking group.

⛪ We also enjoyed chatting with a minister from a local church.

🌙 Saturday Night

🎉 The town was busy because KETTFEST had been going on all day. There were lots of activities, a great atmosphere and plenty of positive interactions throughout the evening.

💙 A regular visitor came to the van and reported she was in a “good place”. She chatted about various things before heading home happily. She was given a personal alarm.

🌸 A group of three girls came to the van after returning from a holiday. One shared that she had recently been bereaved of a close family member.

💬 We met a group of older teenagers who stopped to chat. We spoke with one man about his very young family and a recent bereavement. He shared that he has good support from family and friends.

👮 We stopped to talk with the police who were having a good night – lollies were given!

🏠 We met a man who had recently become homeless and was clearly upset by the situation. He currently has somewhere temporary to stay but will need to secure long-term accommodation.

🩹 A young woman asked for first aid for a cut thumb.

🎪 We enjoyed a lovely chat with a group of women returning from a festival in another part of the country. We talked about the great work Street Pastors do across the UK and provided water.

🚑 We were called to an incident where a man had fallen and hit his head. He was assessed and given dressings for a wound. Police attended and took him and a family member to A&E.

🙏 We spoke with a young man who was excited to tell us he had secured a new job. A few weeks ago, Street Pastors had promised to pray for him and his upcoming interview. He was delighted to share the good news and asked that we continue to pray for him as he prepares to start work.

😊 We spoke with two ladies visiting Kettering who were very interested in what we do. They had enjoyed a wonderful day at KettFest and were looking forward to continuing their evening.

🍜 We spoke with a man who was currently sofa surfing. We provided him with a pot noodle, and he was grateful for the support.

🚕 We met a group of friends who had been out drinking. One was feeling unwell despite having had a very good day. We provided a sick bowl, water and tissues while they waited for a taxi home.

💛 As always, there was lots of love for the Street Pastors and plenty of lollies handed out throughout the evening.

💛 A Message That Means So Much 💛
One of the greatest encouragements for our Street Pastors is hearing from people we’ve helped.

This simple message arrived after last night’s patrol:

“Thank you for taking care of us last night.”

Whether it’s offering a listening ear, helping someone get home safely, providing reassurance, practical support, or simply being there when needed, it’s a privilege to serve the people of Kettering.

Our volunteers are out on Pay Day Friday’s and Saturday nights, as well as some Saturday mornings, supporting our community and being a visible presence of care and compassion.

A huge thank you to our Street Pastors, Day Pastors, Prayer Pastors and supporters who make this ministry possible. Your time, care and prayers are making a real difference in our town.

Please continue to pray for all those we meet on patrol and for the volunteers who faithfully serve Kettering week after week.

We take our Kettering Street Pastor patrols seriously… and so do the football supporters! ⚽

With Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and Brazil 🇧🇷 both in action tonight, there may be a few eyes on the scores between conversations. 🤩

Thankfully, supporting our town comes first, and our team remains focused on Caring, Listening and Helping those enjoying a night out in Kettering. 💛
