โœจ๐ŸคฉKettering Street Pastors Patrol Report โ€“ Friday & Saturday Night ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ™

Another busy weekend supporting people across Ketteringโ€™s night-time economy.

Thank you to all our volunteers, prayer supporters, venue staff, CCTV operators and emergency services partners who help make Kettering a safer place. ๐Ÿ™

๐ŸŒ™ Friday Night

๐Ÿ˜Š A warm, friendly and good-natured evening with several positive interactions. Many members of the public expressed appreciation for Street Pastors and the work we do in the community.

โ˜• We spent time with two homeless men, providing hot drinks, food, encouragement and support.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ We met two young women enjoying their first night out since becoming mothers. We had a meaningful conversation and were able to pray for their children and for a safe and enjoyable evening.

๐Ÿ™ We spoke with a local doorman about spiritual matters. He shared that he was living on his own, and we were able to listen, encourage him and assure him of our prayers.

๐Ÿ’™ We spent time with a gentleman going through a particularly difficult period in his life. We listened to his concerns, discussed possible sources of support and promised to pray for him and a family member currently living with cancer.

๐Ÿš– Towards the end of the night, CCTV contacted us regarding a young woman who had become heavily intoxicated. We were able to assist her and her partner, ensuring she was cared for, helped into a taxi and got home safely.

๐Ÿญ Lollies: 101
๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Spikeys: 4
๐Ÿ’ง Bottles of Water: 1

๐ŸŒ™ Saturday Night

๐ŸŽ‰ A busy evening with lots of people enjoying the town centre and a lovely atmosphere around Market Square.

๐Ÿ‘ฎ A Police Sergeant who works across several towns visited our base, thanked the team for all they do and discussed the work of Street Pastors and the Safer Night Out Van.

๐Ÿจ Home Dzert were still clearing up after a very long but successful day.

๐Ÿค We met a man working in one of the venues for the weekend who had never heard of Street Pastors before. He was very positive about our ethos and community work.

๐Ÿ’ฌ We spoke with a man facing a range of domestic difficulties who appreciated our faith and was open to God.

๐Ÿ’ We also met a couple who are due to be married soon in Nottingham.

๐Ÿฝ๏ธ The Border Clash restaurant, after a very busy evening, kindly invited Street Pastors to dine with them anytime.

๐Ÿ™ We spent time with a young man who had recently moved to Kettering from Kent and was dealing with a difficult situation at home. He appreciated the conversation and prayer.

๐Ÿซ We met a young man who recognised us from our school patrols while waiting for his dad to collect him.

๐Ÿ“ฑ We noted the two public safety units in Kettering that offer free calls, a 999 emergency button and charging facilities:
๐Ÿ“ Newlands Centre
๐Ÿ“ Taxi Rank area

๐ŸŽถ One of the pubs had a live band and had been busy throughout the day and evening.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ We met a mum of five enjoying a well-earned night out with friends.

๐Ÿ“– We spent time with a gentleman struggling following a family bereavement. He asked for prayer, and we were able to give him a Bible and let him know weโ€™d be around if he wanted to talk again.

๐Ÿ”‘ We helped search for a member of the publicโ€™s lost keys, although sadly they were not found.

๐Ÿ’™ We met some young parents enjoying a night out who were feeling guilty about being away from their children. We hope our conversation and a few lollipops brought some encouragement.

๐ŸŒ™ Street Pastors Report ๐ŸŒ™

โ€ข A lovely warm night with lots of people in town enjoying their evening. โ˜€๏ธ

โ€ข Checked on a young lady who seemed upset. She had a friend with her who was looking after her and they were arranging a taxi home. ๐Ÿš•

โ€ข Met a male who is part of the Wombles team. He had been litter picking all day and decided to carry on throughout the night. Prayers were said for his safety as he continued his work. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿงน

โ€ข Spoke to a lone female worker in an all-night venue and prayed for protection for her during her shift. ๐Ÿ’™

โ€ข Had a lovely affirming conversation with a male about his work and the stresses he faces.

โ€ข Met a rough sleeper who was unsure where he would be sleeping tonight. He shared about family bereavements and other concerns, but also how he feels God is carrying him through difficult times. He is hopeful life will improve. We spoke about local churches he could attend and provided him with a sleeping bag, socks, gloves, Pot Noodle and tea. ๐Ÿ™

โ€ข Met two ladies who were fascinated by our work. We had a good chat with them and talked about the churches they attend.

โ€ข A young male came to the SNO Van for a chat and shared how he had recently helped some vulnerable young people. He also spoke honestly about family losses he has experienced and how he tries to turn those experiences into something positive. What an inspiration. ๐Ÿ’ซ

โ€ข ๐Ÿ“ธ One male proudly told us he is now on a 14 WEEK STREAK of having his photo featured on our page โ€” hereโ€™s to week 15! ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿค—โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿงข

โ€ข Met a young man currently doing his A-Levels. He shared about a job interview he has this week and we promised to pray for him. He said our prayers have helped him in the past and that he loves seeing his picture on Facebook and on the screen at the SNO Van. ๐Ÿ™

โ€ข Two females came to the van needing flip flops. We had a lovely conversation with one lady about being a mum to girls. She thanked us for being there and hoped we would still be supporting the town when her daughters are older enough to go out into town. ๐Ÿฉด๐Ÿ’•

โ€ข Two girls came to the SNO Van for safety after being followed by a male saying unpleasant things to them. One of our team stayed with them until they felt safe again and the male had moved on. Prayers were said for their protection for the rest of the night. ๐Ÿ™

โ€ข A male well known to us came to the SNO Van feeling quite agitated. We spent time speaking with him to help calm the situation before he continued on his way.

โ€ข Saw a female walking unsteadily on her own. We offered assistance and tried to help her get a taxi home. She was upset about a personal situation and initially wanted to continue drinking, but after some time arrangements were made to get her home safely. ๐Ÿš–

Day Patrol

โ€ข A lovely morning with sunny, warm weather and happy shoppers.

โ€ข We saw a regular face in town who is always pleased to see the Street Pastors.

โ€ข We spoke to a cafรฉ owner, who kindly called through to offer us free coffees.

โ€ข We had a good conversation with another cafรฉ owner about the welcoming atmosphere in their cafรฉ and the challenges of visiting family members in Kyiv.

โ€ข We visited a pop-up art shop, where a business is using the space for a short time before the next one moves in.

โ€ข We met some Street Pastor friends who kindly offered to buy us a coffee in another cafรฉ.

โ€ข We saw the food bank driver out on his rounds, and when we reached the food bank they were enjoying a quieter morning.

โ€ข We met a new shop owner in The Yards, who is giving the business time to grow by opening at weekends.

โ€ข We also saw people happily chatting outside Frydays and enjoying the sunshine.

Night Patrol

โ€ข Overall, it was a fairly quiet night, with lots of positivity from the public about the work of Street Pastors.

โ€ข It was great to have the High Sheriff of Northamptonshire out with the team to see the work first-hand.

โ€ข Monitored a number of young-looking people out in town.

โ€ข We spent time with a young woman who had fallen out with a family member.

โ€ข We provided food and a sleeping bag to two rough sleepers.

โ€ข We spoke with a man who hopes to move closer to his father, who is unwell, and prayed that this would be possible.

โ€ข We spoke with two brides-to-be who were out for the evening.

โ€ข We helped two young men phone their parents and get a taxi home after their plans changed unexpectedly.

โ€ข Later in the evening, we helped to calm a fight between two groups and gave a cold compress to one of the young women involved.

โ€ข There had been a report of a possible knife threat earlier in the evening, so police attended and spoke with those involved before we finished for the night.
