Our pastor Geoff Bennett preached a very important message today.
It was a powerful message because it was about saying the name of Jesus. In Jesus name there is healing and victory.
Here is a short summary of the message with some scriptures Geoff read, followed at the end by how the message spoke to me personally.
Jesus went around teaching people about the Kingdom of God, healing people and doing great miracles.
Jesus told his disciples that they would do even greater things than he did.
John 14:12-14
12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Jesus gave a great commission to go out in the world and do the following things in his name. His name carries all authority in heaven and earth.

Mark 16 v 15 to 17
15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

Jesus name is higher than every other name.
The phrase "Jesus' name is higher" reflects the foundational Christian belief that the name of Jesus holds supreme authority and power above all others.
This concept is rooted in the biblical passage Philippians 2:9-11, which states that God highly exalted Jesus and gave Him "the name that is above every name".
When we speak and pray in his name, we should expect for great answers as then healing will take place and God will be glorified and his Kingdom will come on earth as it is in heaven.
This is what happened when Peter and John prayed for a lame man.
Acts 3 v 1 to 8
Peter and John were going to the house of God about three o’clock. It was the time for prayer. 2 Each day a certain man was carried to the Beautiful Gate of the house of God. This man had never been able to walk. He was there begging for money from those who were going in. 3 He asked Peter and John for money when he saw them going in. 4 Peter and John looked at him. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 The man who could not walk looked at them. He thought he would get something from them. 6 Peter said, “I have no money, but what I have I will give you! In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!” 7 Peter took the man by the right hand and lifted him up. At once his feet and the bones in his legs became strong. 8 He jumped up on his feet and walked. Then he went into the house of God with them. He gave thanks to God as he walked.

Praying in Jesus name and just speaking Jesus name is so powerful. At the name of Jesus demons will have to flee. In the name of Jesus we have the victory over the evil one.
When we feel at a lost what to pray, just saying 'Jesus, Jesus, Jesus' speaks power and victory as the devil will have to back off.

During the service we sang 'Speak the name of Jesus' by Lauren Diagle

Lyrics
I just want to speak the name of Jesus
Over every heart and every mind
Cause I know there is peace within your presence
I speak Jesus
I just want to speak the name of Jesus
Till every dark addiction starts to break
Declaring there is hope and there is freedom
I speak Jesus

Cause your name is power
Your name is healing
Your name is life
Break every stronghold
Shine through the shadows
Burn like a fire

I just want to speak the name of Jesus
Over fear and all anxiety
To every soul held captive by depression
I speak Jesus

Shout Jesus from the mountains
And Jesus in the streets
Jesus in the darkness over every enemy
Jesus for my family
I speak the holy name
Jesus
Shout Jesus from the mountains
And Jesus in the streets
Jesus in the darkness over every enemy
And Jesus for my family
I speak the holy name
Jesus

Your name is power (your name is power)
Your name is healing (your name is healing)
Your name is life (you are my life)
Break every stronghold (break every stronghold)
Shine through the shadows
Burn like a fire

Let's pray in faith and Jesus name for people to be healed and saved. Let's believe we will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.
May the churches in Frome have great testimonies of the power of Jesus name.

The Smith Wigglesworth testimony
The story recounts an occasion when Smith Wigglesworth and a group of believers ministered to an entirely helpless, bedridden vicar. Disappointed by no immediate healing, the group left. One member suggested they return, gather together, and simply whisper the name of Jesus. As they persistently whispered "Jesus! Jesus! Jesus!", the spiritual atmosphere shifted, and their faith grew. They whispered the name louder until the power fell, resulting in the vicar rising from his bed and getting dressed.
Wigglesworth used this story to illustrate that the power of God is unlocked when believers shift their focus away from a problem and instead focus on the Lord Himself, grasping the authority in His name.

Frome Christian Fellowship spent a lovely morning together at Greenways Hall, Chilcompton.
We had a Holy communion service plus worship accompanied by John Heywood on guitar.
Our opening reflections and prayers encouraged us to turn away from the troubles that weigh us down and give them to Jesus in prayer in exchange for his peace.
Here is a copy of the reflections and prayers.

For me its been a challenging week. Not due so much to personal problems but to the sad events that have happened in our country.
What has stressed me even more is all the arguing and bickering on Facebook and amongst politicians on the TV plus social media.
I've been spending far too much time scrolling on my Facebook newfeed and feeling cross about the comments on current affairs. Many differ from my views and I just got to feeling cross, sad, and overwhelmed.

Jesus said this

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

His words were recorded in John 14 v 27.

Jesus also said

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
These words were recorded in Matthew 11 v 28. Another word for rest is peace.

I feel that this morning is a time where we can turn our minds away from our problems and direct ourselves to seek the face of Jesus.
Yesterday God bought to my mind a hymn called 'Turn your eyes upon Jesus' After that I felt led to take steps to prevent myself from spending time scrolling my news feed.
Here are some of the hymn lyrics

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

His word shall not fail you He promised
You can trust Him and all will be well
Then go to a world that is dying
His perfect salvation to tell

Dear Lord
We just thankyou that amongst all the trials and tribulation plus darkness of the world that you wish for us to reach out to you to find rest and peace for our weary souls.
We just hand over our burdens of worries and cares (have a time of silence to talk yo the Lord about them...............)
We thankyou as we turn our eyes upon you this morning, you lay your hands upon our hearts and minds and give us peace.
May your Holy spirit fill this room and empower us to hear from you in the worship and message.
We ask this in your name Lord Jesus Amen

We also had the pleasure of singing 'Turn your eyes upon Jesus'.

Our speaker John Heywood addressed the frequently asked question 'why is there so much trouble in the world?'
Here are a couple of brief thoughts on the question. Just a taster in a very big subject.

When God created mankind, He gave him something very unique. Man received a free will, so that he could make his own choices according to his own free will.

The Fall occurred because man used his free will to listen to Satan which bought pain, war and sufferingin the world.

John 10:10
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Nevertheless, the way of salvation was made by Jesus Christ with that same free will, which results in having life to the full as described in John 10:10.

The lunch was very much enjoyed. Home made mushroom and chicken soup, icecreams, sausage/cheese and onion rolls, strawberries and cream. We were very blessed by the donations of fayre by the church members. Hopefully God answered our prayers that during conversation and fellowship over lunch we would get to know each other so that we feel like family.

How did your church/online service go today? Did it bless and encourage you?
We would love to hear in the comments.
Here is a summary of how the sermon spoke to me. If you have any insights please share in the comments.
At Frome Christian Fellowship George Litanueiks preached on 1 Peter 1.
Here is verses 13 to 16
Be Holy
13 Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

As the world gets darker and the signs that Jesus return is imminent we should indeed be sober and vigilant. We need to be like the 5 wise virgins, who had their lamps trimmed with oil. They were looking out for the Bridegrooms arrival. In Jewish marriage traditions the bride groom arrived when he had the home prepared for the couple to live in. He would sometimes arrive in the dead of the night with no prior warning. Let us be ready for the rapture when the bridegroom Jesus Christ comes for his church which is his bride or if it is sooner for the day we die.
Verse 14 really jumped out at me, 'As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance'
I think it could be so easy to partake of bad habits that God has been delivering us from through the power of his Holy spirit.
I think if we neglect spending time in prayer and bible study, we get weaker in our spirits and then the temptation to do things in our old ways before we knew Jesus, can creep up upon us and if we are not vigilant overcome us.
When this happens it is best not to beat ourselves up but to say sorry to God and be determined to get back into the word and prayer.
Spiritual Reminders for Your Journey
Renewing the Mind: Romans 12:2 reminds us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds rather than conforming to the patterns of the world.
A Way Out: 1 Corinthians 10:13 promises that God is faithful and will always provide a way out of temptation so you can endure it.

I believe God's way out is the power of his word, the power of his blood, the power of the Holy Spirit and the authority of his name.
Revelation 12 v 11
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

Romans 8:11
11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies ]through His Spirit who dwells in you.

In Christian teachings, this "resurrection power" is not just for the afterlife. It is believed to be available for daily life to provide strength, overcome sin and fear, and facilitate spiritual transformation.

Philippians 2:9
9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

It’s like using the name of the president of a company – that name can get things done. It’s the same in the spirit realm, except that the Name of Jesus is higher – carries more weight -- than any other name

Father's Love Letter Meditation 12
For all your days are written in my book.

Psalm 139:16
16 Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them. (WEB)

Most biographies are written after a person has fully lived his life and made some significant contribution to society. But, inconceivable as it may sound, God wrote your biography before you were born.

What an all-knowing, all-powerful God! This same God who existed before time began and who knows all the events of the future is the loving Father who has personally invited you, His precious child, to live eternally with Him in His heavenly home.

PRAYER
Almighty God, You already know more about me than I’ll ever know about You. You have written out the perfect plan for my life. Enable me to be so in sync with Your Father-heart that my life will be a daily reflection of Your perfect will for me.
Amen.

Father's Love Letter
Meditation 11
You were not a mistake.

Psalm 139:15
15 My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. (WEB)

Through His Word, Father God has purposely communicated to you that your life is not a mistake. He lovingly watched as your yet-unformed body was woven together, and He took the time to carefully write down each one of your future days in His book. You are not just a population statistic in His eyes. You are a person who is incredibly unique, with a special purpose. You were not an accident, for you are loved more than you could ever know.

PRAYER
Father, thank You that I have a special purpose in life and that all my days are written in Your book. Help me to always remember that You wanted me to come into this world and that You have planned each day that I live. Please grant to me a daily supply of strength and courage to sustain me. Amen.

I have been posting meditations from the Father's Love Letter on Fcf fb page.
The reason being at church about 3 weeks ago, we were all given a copy of it. We were asked to meditate on it and then after give it away to someone else.
I was just looking at the first paragraph this morning and the line 'I am familiar with all your ways' which is Psalm 139 v 3 in the Bible, got me thinking 🤔
I got to wondering about my ways.
I asked my husband what he finds irritating about me and he said that I don't tighten the lids up on jars such as the coffee one!
I asked him what he finds good about me. He said 'a good organiser and stands up against injustice'
I thanked God for being patient and kind with me for all my annoying ways which I am probably slow to improve in. I thanked him for not giving up on me.
Psalm 145 v 8
The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.

I then thought that maybe sometimes I may make God smile at my silly ways or the time I do occasionally do things right. Do things God's way and not my way.
Psalm 149 v 4
For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.
Psalm 17 v 8
Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings
Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”
In the Father's Love Letter, God is telling us that of we believe in his son, then we are His children.
As his children we sometimes get it wrong. We sometimes get it right but God still loves us ❤️

Here is a link to the Father's Love Letter so you can listen in if you have never heard of it before.

If you can think of any verses where it tells us of God's patience and love for us please feel free to share in the comments. Thankyou in advance!

The Father's Love Letter
Meditation 10
I chose you when I planned creation.

Ephesians 1:11-12
11 We were also assigned an inheritance in him, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who does all things after the counsel of his will, 12 to the end that we should be to the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ. (WEB)

No one likes to be rejected. Perhaps you experienced rejection by your classmates or by your parents when you were a child. Even as adults, rejection can happen anytime and anywhere—in the workplace, at home or even in church. But God chose you to be His son or daughter from the very beginning of time. In the Father’s eyes you are a precious treasure. He loves you and has a one-of-a-kind plan for your life.

PRAYER
Father, thank You for choosing me to be part of Your forever family. I thank You that I am accepted unconditionally by the One who matters most. I desire to be Your child, to obey You in all things and to be a coheir with Jesus according to Your wonderful plan. Help me to fulfill the special purpose that was determined especially for me. Amen.
