SUNDAY 16 AUGUST 2026
Saturday 15 August is one of several dates during the year when the Church celebrates Mary, the mother of Jesus, known in the Orthodox Church as the Theotokos, the Mother of God. The Church at Stanton Drew is dedicated to Mary, under one of her other names – St Mary the Virgin – so on Sunday 16 we will worship together and celebrate this dedication, known as a Patronal Festival as Mary is the spiritual patron of the church.

SUNDAY 2 AUGUST 2026
The start of August is Lammas, celebration of the first cut of the harvest, a reminder of our reliance on the land and those who work it for our daily bread. Our Gospel reading is Matthew’s telling of Jesus feeding a multitude with five loaves and two fishes. This acts as the entry point into an exploration of the Lord’s Prayer.

For August our worship is focussed on one church each week.
