🌱✨ Recently, we welcomed 30 enthusiastic pupils from Churchwood Primary to explore the fascinating journey of food and its origins.

The day kicked off with some hands-on learning as the pupils dug into the soil to discover the little creatures that keep it healthy. They tasted and learned about nutritious plants while sowing their own pots of cress. 🌿

Next, we shifted our focus to healthy living by whipping up some delicious beetroot hummus and flatbread using fresh ingredients sourced right from our land. 🍞🥙

To complete the cycle, we took all our food waste to our new Ridan composter, ensuring it gets broken down and returned to nourish the soil. ♻️

One teacher remarked, “Wow, inspiring, educational, and hands-on!” A huge thank you to the Country Trust for partnering with us on these trips, and to the High Weald National Landscape Partnership and Lund Trust for their support.

Together, we’re cultivating knowledge and a love for the land! 🌍❤️

We had a beautiful sunny day on Saturday at the market!

The next market is our last one until 5th September so do come along and show your support! The small purchases that you make and the conversations that are had really make a huge difference to all of our stallholders.

Plus we have live music and beautiful surroundings..a perfect summer morning 👌

We look forward to seeing lots of you there for our last of the summer markets!

The Eyes Of Love

I do believe deeply, that in order to live a spiritual life, we have to claim for ourselves that we are “taken” or “chosen.” Let me try to expand a bit on these words. When I know that I am chosen, I know that I have been seen as a special person. Someone has noticed me in my uniqueness and has expressed a desire to know me, to come closer to me, to love me. When I write to you that, as the beloved, we are God’s chosen ones, I mean that we have been seen by God from all eternity; long before you were born and became part of history, you existed in God’s heart. Long before your parents admired you or your friends acknowledged your gifts, or your teachers, colleagues and employers encouraged you, you were already “chosen.” The eyes of love had seen you as precious, as of infinite beauty of the chosen one, and it chooses without making anyone else feel excluded.

Get to know how the Enneagram types impact our relationships and some practices and actions for everyday living.
Enneagram and Relationships Retreat

Tues 3rd 4pm – Thurs 5th 5pm November 2026

Led by Rachael Gale

A chance to come together and explore how the ancient wisdom tool of the Enneagram can bring insight and help to our relationships. We will spend time considering how a greater understanding of our ego patterns (and those of others) can enrich us and the connections, networks and relationships in our lives.

The retreat will require a level of existing enneagram understanding and will be a collaborative and creative experience. Our hope is that participants will grow in their understanding of how their type patterns impact their relationships and provide some practices and actions for everyday living.

Hi, Paul and Andy here from Ashburnham Place!

We've had a few new followers join us recently, so we thought it would be a good time to share a bit about who we are and the heart behind what we do.

66 years ago, a young trainee vicar gave this place as a gift because he loved Jesus and wanted it to be an open, welcoming place where people could come and experience that same love. That's still very much who we are today.

You're warmly welcome to come and enjoy 220 acres of land, ancient woodland, three lakes, a beautiful cup of coffee in the orangery tea room, or one of our amazing sourdough loaves.

Whether you're an individual coming from the local area for a day of peace and quiet, or a church group coming from further afield, there's a place for you here. We have a main house with meeting rooms, dining rooms and a four-acre kitchen garden you can wander around and enjoy.

At the heart of everything we do is volunteering. Since our foundation 60 years ago, people have come and given themselves here as an expression of service. Right now we have 50 plus young volunteers from all around the world, serving as part of a discipleship programme where they learn about themselves, grow in their faith, and discover what it means to offer loving hospitality to others.

We really hope to see you soon.

God bless.

What have you witnessed in the course of your life? What has been important, even life-changing, for you? Lets explore & write about them.

Creative Writing: ‘Things Witnessed’

Tues 22nd 12 noon – Fri 25th 10.30am September 2026

Led by Chris Leonard

What have you witnessed in the course of your life? What has been important, even life-changing, for you? Jesus told his first followers to go and tell what they had seen of him. Much of the Bible (and of Chris’ own published writing) tells honest faith-stories from imperfect, ordinary witnesses. Structured in much the same way as Chris’ regular creative writing events at Ashburnham ‘Things Witnessed’ will focus on recalling and expressing what you’ve witnessed of Jesus day by day and help you gain confidence in relating stories of what really matters in your life and faith

It’s not competitive. However insignificant they might seem, your lived experiences are unique. Difficult struggles often speak with more relevance and credibility than spectacular triumphs and each will illuminate different aspects of Jesus for different kinds of people. Your faith and spirituality may be hesitant, embryonic and weak or mature and strong – all will have ‘God with us’ stories to encourage others. Writing, then listening to each other’s stories at Ashburnham will inspire us all to explore new ways of sharing God’s grace, hope and love.

The Bereavement Journey

November 17th 2026 12.00 noon- November 20th 14.00pm

Hosted and held by Ashburnham Christian trust team

Films and discussion groups make up this excellent course, provided by Holy Trinity Brompton Church in London, and facilitated by a team at Ashburnham Place.

Grief is hard. Death can impact all of life. Our aim is to provide a safe place where our guests can take time out to explore bereavement. Loss is a natural part of life and it’s necessary for us process our thoughts and emotions for our well being, and find ways to cope and move forward. This course, made up of 7 sessions, the last of which focuses on faith in grief, promotes support in your journey, helping to prevent mental ill-health and encouraging good health and healing. We will work through the videos and discussion sessions in an informal and relaxed way , providing you with a manual to help you record your thoughts. There will be space to experience the beauty and peace of Ashburnham Place where you will be well looked after, and have the opportunity to take part in some creative activities extra to the course, which sensitively encourage personal reflection and remembrance. Prayer ministry will also be available.
