This small patch of ground in the West Garden at Ashburnham Place is special. We hope to establish a wildflower meadow here. The lawn has been scalped then scarified down to bare earth - the moss and thatch was nearly 10 cms deep here - and strewings from the beautiful biodiverse meadows at Great Dixter have been trodden in on top. Their meadows contain yellow rattle, a plant which parasitises the grasses and holds them at bay. The hay will be removed in time, hopefully bequeathing some precious wildflower seedlings.
Thank you

🎄 Christmas may feel a long way off… but perhaps that’s exactly why it’s time to start thinking about Advent.

Before the Christmas rush begins, why not make space to pause, breathe and prepare your heart for the coming season?

✨ ‘Joy to the World’ — An Advent Break for Women ✨
Tuesday 24th – Friday 27th November
Ashburnham Place

Come away to the winter beauty of Ashburnham Place for a few precious days of worship, teaching, rest and refreshment as we journey towards Christmas and celebrate the birth of Christ.

This year, we’ll focus on the angel’s extraordinary message to the shepherds:

“Good news of great joy for all people.”

In a season that can so easily become busy and overwhelming, Advent gives us an opportunity to stop and remember where our joy truly comes from.

Together, we’ll unwrap with joy the greatest gift God has given — His Son, Jesus — and explore how we can allow the joy of that good news to overflow into our own lives as we trust and move forward with our Saviour.

Led by Rosie Morgan and Sally-Ann Fatkin, this is a chance to come just as you are, with an open heart, and make space for God.

❤️ Come for the rest. surrender to His Joy. Leave ready for Christmas.

And yes… do bring your journal and your Christmas jumper! 🎄

Single occupancy: £354 per person
Shared occupancy: £306 per person

What have you witnessed in the course of your life? What has been important, even life-changing, for you? Lets explore & write about them.

Creative Writing: ‘Things Witnessed’ (ACT 867)

Tues 22nd 12 noon – Fri 25th 10.30am September 2026

Led by Chris Leonard

What have you witnessed in the course of your life? What has been important, even life-changing, for you? Jesus told his first followers to go and tell what they had seen of him. Much of the Bible (and of Chris’ own published writing) tells honest faith-stories from imperfect, ordinary witnesses. Structured in much the same way as Chris’ regular creative writing events at Ashburnham ‘Things Witnessed’ will focus on recalling and expressing what you’ve witnessed of Jesus day by day and help you gain confidence in relating stories of what really matters in your life and faith

It’s not competitive. However insignificant they might seem, your lived experiences are unique. Difficult struggles often speak with more relevance and credibility than spectacular triumphs and each will illuminate different aspects of Jesus for different kinds of people. Your faith and spirituality may be hesitant, embryonic and weak or mature and strong – all will have ‘God with us’ stories to encourage others. Writing, then listening to each other’s stories at Ashburnham will inspire us all to explore new ways of sharing God’s grace, hope and love.

In the wait will be at two major worship festivals next weekend! Will you be joining us?

We’re excited that In The Wait will be joining David’s Tent and Big Church Festival this year!

At Ashburnham Place, creating space to encounter God through prayer and worship has always been at the heart of who we are. In The Wait was birthed from this same desire — to create room to slow down, become still and linger in God’s presence.

Through live, improvised worship, we love making space for the Holy Spirit to lead — whether into joyful praise, deep intimacy, prayer, reflection or simply stillness.

If you’re coming to Big Church Festival or David’s Tent, we’d love to invite you to join us for a time of soaking worship and encounter.

And if you can’t make it, you can experience In The Wait wherever you listen to music — bringing these moments of worship and prayer into your own home, workplace or quiet space.

Bereavement Journey Course
November 17 @ 12:00 pm - November 20 @ 2:00 pm

Our aim is to provide a safe place where our guests can take time out to explore bereavement, and find ways to cope and move forward.
The Bereavement Journey

November 17th 2026 12.00 noon- November 20th 14.00pm

Hosted by our Ashburnham Staff team

Films and discussion groups make up this excellent course, provided by Holy Trinity Brompton Church in London, and facilitated by a team at Ashburnham Place.

Grief is hard. Death can impact all of life. Our aim is to provide a safe place where our guests can take time out to explore bereavement. Loss is a natural part of life and it’s necessary for us process our thoughts and emotions for our well being, and find ways to cope and move forward. This course, made up of 7 sessions, the last of which focuses on faith in grief, promotes support in your journey, helping to prevent mental ill-health and encouraging good health and healing. We will work through the videos and discussion sessions in an informal and relaxed way , providing you with a manual to help you record your thoughts. There will be space to experience the beauty and peace of Ashburnham Place where you will be well looked after, and have the opportunity to take part in some creative activities extra to the course, which sensitively encourage personal reflection and remembrance. Prayer ministry will also be available.
