At Palm Church in Airdrie, we’re exploring plans to create a dedicated sensory and regulation room for children — and we’d love to learn from the experiences of people involved in church life.
We want to better understand how church environments can support children who may find noise, crowds, lighting, transitions or busy spaces difficult, and what churches can do to help every child participate and feel that they belong.
As part of our consultation, we’ve created a short questionnaire and would particularly love to hear from:
💚 Parents and carers
💛 Children’s ministry leaders and volunteers
💙 Pastors and church leaders
💚 Anyone with experience of, or an interest in, sensory inclusion
You don’t need to have personal experience of additional support needs to take part. We want to hear from a wide range of churches, experiences and perspectives.
The questionnaire only takes around 3–5 minutes, and your responses will help us:
🌿 Understand the challenges some children experience in church environments
🌿 Learn what churches are already doing well
🌿 Identify what sensory provision is most helpful
🌿 Shape our proposed sensory and regulation room
🌿 Provide evidence as we seek funding to make the project possible

We’d also really appreciate you sharing this post with other churches, children’s ministry teams, leaders, parents and carers across Scotland so we can hear from as wide a range of people as possible.
Thank you for helping us create church communities where every child can feel safe, included, valued and loved. 💚💛💙🌴
