This week's Song for Saturday comes from Kings Kaleidoscope. It is a raw, painful exploration of how anxiety and depression can hurt a person's soul. But also how God answers those questions and doubts.
The writer said that in particularly dark moments the anxiety can lead him to fearing that he will either turn his back on God and end up in Hell or that God will turn His back on him.

On Sunday 28th June it will be a pleasure to welcome back Bishop Catherine Roskam. Bishop Catherine worked with us for a year, and we are delighted that she wants to come back to see us!! :-) Our service will be a Eucharist, and Aaron Manning will give the homily.
Everyone is welcome and we would love to see you! There will be a picnic to share after the service, and if you are able to bring something to share, that will be great. But if not, we would still love to see you, so please stay and talk to people you know - and people you don't!

"BIGGING UP" CHRIST CHURCH: On Wednesdays I thought, for a change, it might be good to visit the websites and pages of other Christ Churches in the Episcopal family. Wherever they are in the world, however big or small, all churches need prayer.
We can use the words from the Gospel to encourage us: "Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one."

So today we are visiting the Cathedral Church of Christ Church, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. They describe themselves as "A community of people who love Jesus and our neighbors, working together to make our shared life a place of beauty, holiness, service, and welcome."

Yesterday's New Testament reading and Gospel readings were from Romans 6:1b-11
and Matthew 10:24-39

Here's one commentator's response to the readings
: "Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?" Paul’s question in Romans 6:1b-11 cuts to the heart of the Christian life. His answer is clear: through baptism, we have died to sin and been raised to new life in Christ (vv. 2–4). This is not just a past event but a present reality—we are to consider ourselves "dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus" (v. 11).

This radical transformation is echoed in Jesus’ challenging words in Matthew 10:24–39. He warns that following Him will bring division, even within families (vv. 34–36). Yet this is not arbitrary, but the natural consequence of a loyalty that surpasses all earthly allegiances: "Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me" (v. 37). These hard words point to a greater love—the love of the Father who sent His Son.

As Sunday is Father’s Day, these passages remind us of our ultimate Father, who calls us to die to ourselves and live for Him. Earthly fathers are called to this same pattern: laying down their lives for the sake of Christ and His kingdom. The cross we bear (v. 38) is the path to true life (v. 39). In this, we reflect our Heavenly Father, who gave His only Son that we might have life.

The good news is that this death to self is not the end, but the gateway to resurrection life. Just as Christ was raised, so we walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4). And as Jesus promises, those who lose their life for His sake will find it (Matthew 10:39). Fathers who prioritize Christ’s kingdom in their families discover a deeper, truer love—one that points their children to the Father who loves perfectly. May we all, fathers and children alike, find our identity and calling in Him.

Our service on Sunday 21st June will be a service of Morning Prayer, led by Nick Mahoney, a member of our congregation. As it will be Father's Day in France this Sunday, it's fitting that Nick, a dad to two young adults who have grown up in our church family, is leading us in worship. Everyone is welcome and we would love to see you! There will be coffee and sweet treats to share after the service, so please stay and talk to people you know - and people you don't!
