Two weeks ago, 51 students gathered in El Atazar for this year’s summer camp, “Connecting Cultures for Mental Health.”, supported by the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe 🌍🤍

Together, they explored how mental health is perceived not only in Europe, but also in Peru, and reflected on the factors that influence our own understanding of mental health.

Drawing on their experiences within church, society, and family, the participants shared perspectives, exchanged ideas, and developed follow-up activities to take what they learned beyond the camp.

A big thank you to the preparation team and to everyone who participated and made these days so meaningful! 🙌

In April 2026, twenty nine participants from all over Europe, gathered in the European Youth Centre in Budapest, joining the Study Session “Mental Health for All: Awareness, Action, and Advocacy”.

Throughout the week, we explored mental health as a fundamental human right through intercultural dialogue, shared learning, and reflection. We discussed topics such as intersectionality and mental health, stigma and awareness, practical tools for well-being, and the role of young Catholics in creating supportive and inclusive communities.

The session created a space where participants could openly share experiences, deepen their understanding, and gain tools to support both themselves and others. Most importantly, it reminded us that no one should face their struggles alone.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this study session a meaningful experience and we can’t wait to see how it’s effect will be multiplied in the future✨

🌟Meet our new European Team

The last Board member who we would like you to meet is Jan, who also shared with us some facts about himself :)

My name is Jan Krawczyk, I’m 22 and come from Poland. I joined JECI MIEC in 2023 and this year I’m in the European Team for the second time.

In everyday life I study law in Berlin and work at a museum as a guide. I’m passionate about history, philosophy of law and foreign languages. I play piano and guitar and love rock music.

🌟Meet our new European Team!

Today we will introduce you to Noah, a Team member from Germany. Here is his short introduction so you can get to know him a bit better :)

Hey, I’m Noah. I am studying at the Pontifical Gregorian in Rome and at the Catholic University in Eichstaett, Upper Bavaria. My hobbies and interests are good food, learning new languages, meeting new people and I am a nerd on Catholic traditions.

A motto i would like to put forward: We should never just get by; we should live! (Vivere, non viacchiare!) (S. Pier Giorgio Frassati)

🌟Meet the new European Team!
Today we introduce you to Alessandra, the team member responsible for the finances.

💌Here are a few words about her:

Hi! I’m Alessandra, I’m 23 and I’m a master student in international relations in Rome. I am a member of FUCI. If you don’t know me, here are a few facts. If you do know me, you probably already know all of this — I must’ve mentioned it while yapping.
I moved to Rome to study when I was 19, and I fell in love with the city and I speak highly of it to everyone.
My sleep schedule is always messed up, I hate cooking (and yes, thinking that all Italians love to cook is a stereotype), but I love eating out! I’m a huge fan of aperitivo or pizza with my friends.
I’m not athletic, but I’m trying to hit the gym (so far, it’s been the other way around).
I’m currently on a quest to figure out what I want to be in life (some say I’m having a mid-20s crisis), but I’m enjoying the journey!

🌟 Meet our new European Team!
During our yearly European Committee in Madrid, we elected a new Team for the year of 2026. It’s time to officially introduce them to you all.

So, today, meet Hannah, who has become our European Coordinator, also known as the president of JECI-MIEC. This is how she describes herself:

Hey, I’m Hannah from Germany.
I recently graduated from university and am full of gratitude and excitement as I step into the next chapter of my life.
Over the past two years, I’ve served as Financial Manager on the European Team, an experience that taught me a lot and brought so many wonderful people into my life.
Outside of university, I enjoy travelling, art, music, and baking to unwind. These experiences have tought me that a long term plan is valuable, but sometimes it’s best to take one step at a time.
I am thrilled to take this next step with the new team!

On Saturday we successfully elected the new European Coordinator - Hannah .22 and the European Team: Jan , Alessandra and Noah .noah_ . 👏🏼
