100th anniversary of the BRSD – Solidarity and resistance
The Bund der Religiösen Sozialistinnen und Sozialisten Deutschlands (BRSD) celebrated its 100th anniversary on 26th July 2026. Andreas Herr, the national secretary, guided the whole celebration. Andreas Herr is also a member of the excecutive committee in the ILRS.
The celebration took place in Meersburg by the lake Bodensee, one century after its founding on 3rd August 1926. When BRSD was founded, the Lutheran pastor Erwin Eckert was their first leader.
The organization was founded to unite Christian socialists in the struggle for peace, human rights, and resistance against capitalism.
During the N**i regime in 1933, the organization was banned, but re‑established after World War II.
The celebration took place in Schlosskirche and the Martin Luther community center in Meersburg.
The main speaker in the service in the Schlosskirche was the bishop. Other pastors and priests participated in the church service, from the Lutheran church, the Roman Catholic church and the Old catholic church. The service was led by the local Lutheran priest.

The President of the ILRS, Jan Rudy Kristensen, took part in the celebration together with other guests, Dominik Ferraro from SPD, Franz Segbers from Die Linke, Bishop Heike Springhart, Pastor Thomas Dreher from the Blumhardt Sozietät and others.
