The “Christianity without Zionism: Mapping and Combating Christian Zionism in Asia and Africa” conference convened 66 theologians, church leaders, and activists from 34 countries in Istanbul to address the growing influence of Christian Zionism across the Global South. The conference took place 1 – 6 September 2026. Hosted by Dar al-Kalima University and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), in partnership with the World Communion of Reformed Churches, the Council for World Mission, the All Africa Conference of Churches, and the World Student Christian Federation.

The World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) is pleased to introduce a new worship resource for Reformation Sunday 2026, 25 October, developed to enrich the worship life of our global communion.

These materials, now available for member churches and worshipping communities worldwide, are inspired by the theological rationale for Reformation Sunday 2026 and shaped by the language of justice, pilgrimage, lament, and hope. The WCRC joins the world in prayer following the catastrophic flash flood that struck the Nepal-Tibet border region on 26 August.
Our hearts are heavy, and we hold this tragedy before God in lament. We grieve with you. We do not come with easy words, for there are none for a loss of this magnitude. We are deeply troubled by the increasing climate catastrophes and the way they disproportionately wreak havoc on communities with significantly smaller carbon footprints. Let us join together across our global communion, united in prayer for Nepal.

GEM School 2026 comes to a close in Panama. The GEM School is a flagship initiative of the New International Financial and Economic Architecture (NIFEA) programme, bringing together the WCRC, the World Council of Churches (WCC), the Lutheran World Federation, the World Methodist Council, the Council for World Mission, and United Society Partners in the Gospel. This partnership represents what WCRC General Secretary Rev. Philip Vinod Peacock calls “the best expression of ecumenism today,” a broad and committed alliance working together for the cause of economic justice.

GEM School continues this week in Panama, where participants are engaging in discussions and lectures on how theology connects to economics. In an immersive experience, participants were welcomed to an indigenous community in Panama to learn more about their traditions and how their lives sometimes intersect with the modern world.

"The theme of this panel is that the Kingdom of God is justice," Rev. Philip Vinod Peacock said in his keynote to the World Methodist Council. "I want to suggest we cannot understand what that means until we have sat, uncomfortably, with this fact: the one we call Lord and Saviour was executed by an empire, in public, using the method that empire reserved for those it considered its most dangerous enemies.”

On Tuesday, 18th August 2026, the Kenyan GRAPE programme of the World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC), in collaboration with St. Paul’s University in Limuru, convened a Water conference under the theme: Flowing toward dignity: Rethinking Water Access as Economic Policy.

The conference brought together representatives of the university, churches, Muslims, civil society and water users’ organisations to discuss how to achieve access to 50l of clean and safe water per person per day or the equivalent cash compensation by 2028 – the goal of the GRAPE advocacy campaign in Kenya. Despite the last-minute cancellation by the Cabinet Secretary of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, the conference went ahead with full force and engaged in intense discussions on the challenges of water in Kenya. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Esther Mombo, set the tone in her welcoming remarks, urging the participants to move swiftly and earnestly with this campaign, as it is often said that ’the wars of the next century will be about water’.

The Communion joins together in prayer for our Indonesian sisters and brothers who are facing the aftermath of two earthquakes this weekend.

The earth has once again trembled. Recent earthquakes have struck Indonesia, shaking homes, displacing families, and leaving communities in fear, grief, and uncertainty. As the Earth continues to shift, our siblings in Christ face the long, difficult road of recovery.

The GRAPE Kenya Water Conference will take place on 18 August, starting at 9 AM, at the St. Paul's University Amphitheatre in Limuru, Kenya.

Water is life: Water is not a luxury. It is not a development aspiration. It is a God-given right and a constitutional guarantee, and in Kenya, it remains out of reach for more than 21 million people.

The GRAPE Kenya Campaign initiated this conference to make this a reality. We come as partners alongside government, civil society, the private sector, and faith communities, in the shared work of making the Constitution’s promise real. The legal architecture is in place. The National Water Master Plan points in the right direction. The policy analysis has mapped the gap. The case studies have given the numbers a human face. What remains is to act together with urgency, with adequate resourcing, and with 2028 as our shared horizon.
