" *Make yourselves into a completely new batch of bread, unleavened as you are meant to be...let us celebrate the feast, then, by getting rid of all the old yeast of evil and wickedness* ." It is never too late to begin anew. Sometimes, we think too much of what we have lost or wasted. Give what you do a little more of yourself. Give your relationship with God a bit more of your time. Give this new week a bit more of energy, and see what God will do. Lord Jesus, help me to get rid of all old evil in my heart and make me purposeful for you.
1Cor 5:1-8.

" *Neither the planter nor the waterer matters: only God, who makes things grow.* " One of the lessons from today's first reading is that, we as Christians, miss the target. We argue and fight over unnecessary things in the Christian community. When we make human leaders our goal, when we fail to see God as the author and finisher, then we will be chasing the wind. Lord Jesus, grant me the grace to make you the beginning and end of my existence.
1Cor 3:1-9.

" *What teaching! He gives orders to unclean spirits with authority and power and they come out* ." If all Christians know the authority and power they have from Jesus, they would not allow themselves to be bullied. Jesus taught with authority and commanded unclean spirits. He did not go back to the Father with this power after his ascension. He left it for us. What are we doing with it? It is either we do not know we have it or we have forgotten we have it. Lord Jesus, may I use the authority you have given me wisely.
Lk 4:31-37.

" *The king said to the girl, ‘Ask me anything you like and I will give you.’ And he swore her an oath, ‘I will give you anything you ask, even half my kingdom* ." A blank cheque like this, is dangerous to offer. A wise king should have known. But the King wanted to be a man of his word. Will you keep your word and bring about evil? It is better to please God than to please mortals. Lord Jesus, grant me the grace to make your honour the center of my life.
Mk 6:17-29.

" *I thank him that you have been enriched in so many ways* ." None of us alive can ever say we have not been enriched by God in one way or the other. However, very often, we look at what we do not have, and speak against God. How about being thankful more; even being thankful for the enrichment that is yet to come. Lord Jesus, I thank you for the gift of another day and how wonderful you created me.
1Cor 1:1-9.

" *Do not let anyone have any food if he refuses to do any work. May the Lord of peace himself give you peace all the time and in every way* ." There is dignity in labour, and hard work is rewarded by God, not just society. Laziness, is a reproach and and an offence to human dignity. When we work and eat the fruit of our labour, we can enjoy peace and divine peace that comes from above. We pray that God blesses the work of our hands. May he grant work to those who are searching also. Lord Jesus, grant me the grace to work for your glory.
2Thess 3:6-10,16-18.
