🎶 Special Concert this Thursday, August 20 at 7 pm!

We’re delighted to invite you to a special our historic Luther Church at Dennewitzplatz, featuring Clemens R. Hoffmann (saxophone) and Christina Hanke-Bleidorn at our Kleuker organ.

The programme brings together works by J. S. Bach, Boëllmann, Eccles, Rutter, McCandless, Surman, Mariano and Iturralde - a fascinating musical journey from Baroque to contemporary and jazz-inspired sounds.

A silent Christ, more than 130 years old.

This Christ head crowned with thorns was created by Carl Cauer (1828–1885) and originally formed part of the Luther Church at Dennewitzplatz in - . Once displayed as a gilded marble medallion above the portal, it survived the destruction of World War II and is now preserved inside the church.

A fragment of Berlin’s history — and a powerful image of suffering, transience, and hope.

Organ.Percussion.Light.Electronics

This concert gives a special spotlight to the pioneering African American composer Florence Beatrice Price, one of the first Black women composers to gain national recognition in the United States. The program also highlights the American composer Larry King, whose monumental work Revelations of St. John the Divine for organ and electronics forms a central point of the concert.

Bringing together Bach, classical repertoire, and contemporary sound worlds shaped by electronics, the program explores the organ as an instrument that continuously transforms across time. Embracing a decolonial spirit, the concert creates a dialogue between tradition and innovation, acoustic and electronic sound, past and present.

Pentecost is a joyful and inspiring time in the life of the Church. We celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit, who brings new life, courage, and unity to all the faithful. It is a moment to reflect on renewal and the power of community, as God's Spirit continues to guide and strengthen us today.

On Pentecost Sunday at 11am, we celebrate the Confirmation of our young members. This is a meaningful milestone in their faith journeys, and we invite the entire community to join in supporting and celebrating them as they become adult members of the church.

On Pentecost Monday, we will gather for an ecumenical service at Rathaus Schöneberg at 11am. The sermon will be given by our pastor, and we look forward to sharing this special occasion with Christians from across our city.

We hope you can join us for these celebrations and share in the joy of Pentecost.

We need your help: The roof of the American Church in Berlin has developed a serious leak caused by a birch tree that has grown into the structure. During every rainfall, a significant amount of water is now entering the church building. To prevent further damage, urgent repairs are necessary.

The Council has commissioned a professional roofing company to carry out the work. The estimated cost of the repairs will be approximately €12,000.
