1 Corinthians 15:20-28 (NLT); 20 But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died. 21 So you see, just as death came into the world through a man, now the resurrection from the dead has begun through another man. 22 Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. 23 But there is an order to this resurrection: Christ was raised as the first of the harvest; then all who belong to Christ will be raised when he comes back. 24 After that the end will come, when he will turn the Kingdom over to God the Father, having destroyed every ruler and authority and power. 25 For Christ must reign until he humbles all his enemies beneath his feet. 26 And the last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For the Scriptures say, “God has put all things under his authority.” (Of course, when it says “all things are under his authority,” that does not include God himself, who gave Christ his authority.) 28 Then, when all things are under his authority, the Son will put himself under God’s authority, so that God, who gave his Son authority over all things, will be utterly supreme over everything everywhere.

Sometimes I find it hard to wrap my arms around the fact that I have eternal life, or hopefully will have. I do feel it now though, I feel Jesus in me and that feeling, that manifestation I believe is the start of eternal life for us. God manifested Himself in Jesus Christ, so by association He is manifest in us too. Some may call that a stretch, but I just call it part of God`s plan. He is manifested in each one of His creations and to each a little differently. We are all called, but few answer and fewer yet follow the path God leads them to. When we want to know if we are on the right track, if we are acting as part of His overall plan, we need to search inward and upward (seek) at the same time. Our hearts will tell us through the Holy Spirit, and through our prayer and conversations we have with Him we get answers. Ultimately, God has dominion over all whether it be through Jesus or whether it be through the inner workings of the Holy Spirit, His Helper.

Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For THINE IS the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever, AMEN!!! In Jesus I believe with my heart, praise and pray, AMEN!!!

Isaiah 65:1-5 (NLT); 1 The LORD says, “I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help. I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me. I said, ‘Here I am, here I am!’ to a nation that did not call on my name. 2 All day long I opened my arms to a rebellious people. But they follow their own evil paths and their own crooked schemes. 3 All day long they insult me to my face by worshiping idols in their sacred gardens. They burn incense on pagan altars. 4 At night they go out among the graves, worshiping the dead. They eat the flesh of pigs and make stews with other forbidden foods. 5 Yet they say to each other, ‘Don’t come too close or you will defile me! I am holier than you!’ These people are a stench in my nostrils, an acrid smell that never goes away.

I remember when I went in for my bypass surgery and just before I was put under I placed my life in God`s hands even though I had not had much contact lately with Him. Then when I woke up I, when I was able I opened my Bible which I brought with me to the Hospital and started reading the Gospel of Matthew. I did not realize it then until just this morning when reading these verses in Isaiah 65 that I was unconsciously seeking God and He was responding to me, “Here I am”. It took a few months before I formally restarted my journey but God was speaking to me all along and He heard my plea for help. “Here I am” is such a powerful reminder of who we worship, a God with an unconditional supply of love and patience for us. He sent His son to open the doors to all corners, all beings and all families who believe. When Jesus came, God was saying, “Here I am” to humanity that whether we are Jew or Gentile we have the right and the invitation to be His!

Father God, “here I am” answering Your response. It may have taken longer than expected but I understand and “hear” You, even after 6 years of my time. It is in the small revelations like this where the grandiose happens in me, and more love, more joy, more yearning for You and Your Son happen. You truly know how to hit right to the core with me and I ever so much appreciate and welcome anything and everything You did, do and will do for me and my family. My heart is saying to me that I have to say God bless You, even though You and You, I wish and pray this upon You Father, Son and Holy Spirit, AMEN in Jesus name!

Luke 3:3-9 (NLT); 3 Then John went from place to place on both sides of the Jordan River, preaching that people should be baptized to show that they had repented of their sins and turned to God to be forgiven. 4 Isaiah had spoken of John when he said, “He is a voice shouting in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the LORD ’s coming! Clear the road for him! 5 The valleys will be filled, and the mountains and hills made level. The curves will be straightened, and the rough places made smooth. 6 And then all people will see the salvation sent from God.’” 7 When the crowds came to John for baptism, he said, “You brood of snakes! Who warned you to flee God’s coming wrath? 8 Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham.’ That means nothing, for I tell you, God can create children of Abraham from these very stones. 9 Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.”
Having a repentant heart means we want to do the right thing and take steps to make that happen. I used to be very hard on myself when it came to my mistakes, but as my sister reminded me yesterday, God has already forgiven that so do not fret or spend much time there. Am I hungry to learn and grow in the Spirit??? – for sure. Do I spend a lot of time chastising myself for all my errored ways??? – not anymore. I do look back to use as a remembrance of what not to do and how not to think and let the Holy Spirit guide me. Repentance means we do our best to take all that is not “of God” in us and replace it with what is. There is a lot of looking inward on this journey to identify the baggage that needs to get kicked to the street. With the Holy Spirit`s help, he is my go-to for helping me to grow in the right direction – toward God the Father and Jesus the Son! Yes, I do feel bad for some of the things I did in the past, but God told me a few years ago I needed to forgive myself so I could move forward in faith, not backward. I have forgiven myself and I feel I am on the right track now starting to produce good fruit and know I cannot do this alone!
Father, You have been so patient with me and give me every opportunity to learn and grow in my faith, in the Spirit and in my relationship with You. I am grateful beyond measure. And Father, Your Son casts a fire into my heart that cannot be quenched – I only want more of You and less of me! In Jesus mighty and wondrous name I praise and pray, AMEN!!!

John 6:15-21 (NLT); 15 When Jesus saw that they were ready to force him to be their king, he slipped away into the hills by himself. 16 That evening Jesus’ disciples went down to the shore to wait for him. 17 But as darkness fell and Jesus still hadn’t come back, they got into the boat and headed across the lake toward Capernaum. 18 Soon a gale swept down upon them, and the sea grew very rough. 19 They had rowed three or four miles when suddenly they saw Jesus walking on the water toward the boat. They were terrified, 20 but he called out to them, “Don’t be afraid. I am here!” 21 Then they were eager to let him in the boat, and immediately they arrived at their destination!
Mark 6:51-52 (NLT); 51 Then he climbed into the boat, and the wind stopped. They were totally amazed, 52 for they still didn’t understand the significance of the miracle of the loaves. Their hearts were too hard to take it in.
We have a Savior that walks on water!!! I would never been able to hold back my emotion, elation and excitement after witnessing something like that. Yet, John writes about this like it was a day they went fishing and caught nothing. I do not chastise John for writing it like this, but this was an extraordinary event in the life of Jesus and the disciples. In the Gospel of Mark, Mark`s account adds that Jesus calmed the seas too which John did not mention. Mark also mentions a hardening of hearts to a sort, so maybe that is why John was so nonchalant about this event – his heart was still a little hardened over from the 5 loaves and 2 fish miracle. Mark was not an eye witness and got most of his facts for his Gospel from Peter. Whatever the reason, I am sure following Jesus was an emotional roller coaster. And to think that all of this transpired in the span of 3 years – Jesus ministry I mean. And it is alive and well and manifested in me to today by my faith and the Word of God! How great is that?!?! It is up to us to carry on His ministry and message and to keep Him alive in us. We do that by how we walk each day in faith and in Him.
Lord, I often use the term extraordinary to describe Your ministry and the messages You give us even to this day! I am but a layman in faith but I know in my heart my elation, joy and love for You cannot be contained. It was You Yourself who told us to keep the light on and not to put the Light under a bushel. You are my Savior, my Mentor, my Shepherd and my friend! I cannot think of a better friend to have as You Jesus and I thank You for our friendship, trust and love we share! In Your name I shout from the mountaintops, praise and pray, AMEN!!!

Psalm 34:11-16 (NLT); 11 Come, my children, and listen to me, and I will teach you to fear the LORD. 12 Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous? 13 Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! 14 Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. 15 The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. 16 But the LORD turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth.
Last Thursday I used to Parable of the Soils to illustrate how we grow and mature in faith. Will we ever get to the point of where we do not grow anymore? If we remain steadfast on our journey then no, we will always have room to improve. That is why I liken to verse 11 as it puts us as children while we walk in the Spirit with our Teacher who helps us to mature in faith. Many of life`s tasks and commotion will keep us from having the right mindset for growth in faith. We need to see ourselves as children, come to Him in earnest and with an open mind and heart so it can be molded a shaped by the Spirit. And, children have a better mind and heart to hold in what is taught and understand better as they have less distractions and generally do not put roadblocks up when being taught. We have so many life lessons, good and bad that may get in the way. Our worldly collection of information tries to get us to see things from a worldly perspective and not a spiritual perspective, or one that is from God. Children are like sponges and that is how we should approach our tutelage and growth in faith.
Lord, I will always see myself as one that needs growth and feel like I will be a child in Your eyes. I have learned so much already, but the Spirit tells me what I have gained so far is only the tip of the iceberg. So, I will remain child-like in my studies and keep the distractions away as much as I can possibly do so I can absorb more Truth and purge what is not “of God” from me. This is not just a task or a journey I am on in faith, but my life now. The majority of my waking hours are spent in either study, prayer or contemplating what the Spirit led me to for the day and throughout the day. Life with You Lord will never be boring, of that I am certain! In the blessed name of Jesus I praise and pray, AMEN!!!

Mark 4:30-34 (NLT); 30 Jesus said, “How can I describe the Kingdom of God? What story should I use to illustrate it? 31 It is like a mustard seed planted in the ground. It is the smallest of all seeds, 32 but it becomes the largest of all garden plants; it grows long branches, and birds can make nests in its shade.” 33 Jesus used many similar stories and illustrations to teach the people as much as they could understand. 34 In fact, in his public ministry he never taught without using parables; but afterward, when he was alone with his disciples, he explained everything to them.
This parable Jesus told can be applied across the board with respect to faith and our journey. As an example, the tiniest act of faith we do can snowball into a monumental harvest. Sowing small seeds are just as important and are not insignificant. Likewise, our faith grows from a small seed planted in us by God and His divine spark, and as we walk hand-in-hand with the Spirit, He co-exists with us to help us unpack all the mysteries to where we can bear fruit and fulfill the will of the Father. Our relationship with God and Jesus grows like a seed planted too. It starts out small, little trust is established, but as we walk together we grow closer and more trusting of each other allowing our hearts to love and be loved by Him to the fullest extent and we find joy, no great joy in its branches! And the fruit is plenty and the harvest abundant! The point here by my commentary is that do not sweep aside the small things. I learned as a kid from my mother it is all about the small things where God shapes us. God seems to revel in the small and spends most of His effort with us there! Never underestimate the power of faith in Christ. What we see as insignificant could have far-reaching impacts we may not see or understand!
Father in Heaven, You have been generous with me in that I get to see some of the fruits from my faith. From my work in the Word to leading a small group and my daily posts have impacts far beyond what I could expect or hope for and I am extremely fortunate to be a child of God and child of Light! And, I must say that I do not revel in patting myself on the back, I mostly respond to the fruit and harvest in awe and wonder Father! You, Your Son and the Holy Spirit have awakened a sleeping giant in my faith, trust and love for following You. I spend all my time on Your potter`s wheel to be molded and shaped as You see fit, not as I want but as You want! That is what makes my journey so special with You Lord, each day is a gift with You no matter how small or inconsequential it may seem. All days with You are grandiose just because I am with You and You are with me! In Jesus name I praise, pray and long to be pruned and shaped, AMEN!!!

Malachi 3:16-18 (NKJV); 16 Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, And the Lord listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the Lord And who meditate on His name. 17 "They shall be Mine," says the Lord of hosts, "On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him." 18 Then you shall again discern Between the righteous and the wicked, Between one who serves God And one who does not serve Him.
Unity… what a lovely word but hard to reach together. When I was growing up, there were such huge differences between the sects of Christianity; Catholic, Roman Catholic, Baptist, Southern Baptist, Episcopal, Pentecostal, Methodist and the like. There were many that interpreted God and His Word from a different perspective. I think some of that was a hold-over from the Old Testament where the divisions were monumental between religions and a person`s faith. And then along comes Jesus, the Son of God, Son of Man and told us if we remain in Him as it is written in the Gospel of John, then we are in unity with Him and each other and the Father will smile down at us and find favor. We become more that just Catholic, Protestant or whatever the flavor of the day is, or was. We are not only His- Jesus, we are God`s! And His Promise, the Holy Spirit is in us to prove that we are children of God and children of Light! The big task now is to understand what it means to be in unity with Him and each other and walk in it. And, any disparity between us will open a door for Satan who is always on the prowl to get in and malinger, stir things up, lie and deceive to the point where confusion and chaos reign. “Remain in Me and I will remain in You” should be our focus together in Christ!
Lord, I will remain in You as long as I draw breath. The Truth You so graciously entrusted me with has lit a fire in my belly for You and Your ministry that cannot be quenched. When I look out on the world and others, I see many problems of course, but I mainly see what it could be and have hope for us all! I try to look out through Your eyes so I can see the potential, not the problems and not just in the world but people in general when I come in contact with them. I trust that I am on the right track here, my heart tells me so. My heart tells me to always have You in my vision and mind and to listen to my heart and the Spirit within. Thank You Lord for helping me to clear my eyes, ears and heart to be more in unity across the board in You. In Your name Jesus I praise, pray and hope, AMEN!!!

Matthew 13:18-23 (NLT); 18 “Now listen to the explanation of the parable about the farmer planting seeds: 19 The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts. 20 The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. 21 But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. 22 The seed that fell among the thorns represents those who hear God’s word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life and the lure of wealth, so no fruit is produced. 23 The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”
In the Parable of the Soils, the different way seeds are sowed follows a pattern and mirrors our growth in faith and trust in the Lord, at least it does mine. I started with not much inspiration to read the Bible. As I restarted my journey, I shifted to number two where I received with joy, but my roots were not so deep and it did not stick. I asked the Lord for a higher level of discernment and that was granted to me but I had too much baggage that I was carrying around, too many boxes I fit my faith into, so like thorns, the meaning was choked out. Then the real understanding of the truth started to show up as I started making progress on my faith as a whole. I worked hard to not let life or any other distractions like old ways of thinking come between The Lord, His Word and my understanding. This is a work in progress though and we must strive each day to be open enough to allow the truth to get unpacked in us by the Holy Spirit. Too many distractions cloud the understanding.
Lord, my ability to “hear” Your Word and write it on my heart has been one of my highest priorities as it is the main method the Spirit guides me and talks to me. I am so grateful for the higher level of discernment and it did not come easily. I am still a work in progress Lord, of that You know true and well. I have worked hard at discarding that which is not of You in my mindset and inner closet so I can be open enough to actually “hear” when You speak! Thank You Lord for Your trust in me with the Truth and I do my best to pass on all my experience in growth so others may benefit and grow like I have. In the most trusted name I praise and Pray – JESUS, AMEN!!!

Romans 14:1-4 (NLT); 1 Accept other believers who are weak in faith, and don’t argue with them about what they think is right or wrong. 2 For instance, one person believes it’s all right to eat anything. But another believer with a sensitive conscience will eat only vegetables. 3 Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to condemn someone else’s servants? Their own master will judge whether they stand or fall. And with the Lord’s help, they will stand and receive his approval.

It is hard to obtain unity in Christ when we stand back and judge each other, put everyone in little boxes of our creation, and look upon them with our own, corrupt carnal glasses on. Unity is unity if the foundation is secure. Unity in Christ is unstoppable if our belief and the glasses we look through are emulating Jesus and remain unbiased. Growing up in America in the 60`s and 70`s was such a blessing as we had all the right influences back then. We said a pledge of allegiance every day in school at the start and one of the lines rings true that America and the world have lost sight of, “One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”! That is truly displayed in Mark 3:25 “A house divided against itself cannot stand”. When we lose sight of unity in Christ, we lose period, plain and simple! I lost that for many years looking out on the world through my own biased glasses and creating many boxes I sorted each person I came across into. And now I have spent the past 6 years tearing down all those walls and getting rid of the boxes, not as easy as it sounds though. It is not for us to condemn or judge, it is up to God, He accepts and Jesus will sort out in the end come judgement day!

Father in Heaven, You are my Creator and I look to only You to have the authority to judge me, You and Your Son. I walk every day with the Holy Spirit in my heart, and it is through this co-existence where I find myself in unity, unison with what Jesus came to preach, how He wants us to walk and who is the real Master – You! The road to the narrow gate Father is strewn with so many impediments and bad influences as the evil one does all he can to keep us from You. I do my best to keep Satan under my boot heel. I am Yours and You are mine! In Jesus name I praise and pray, steadfast in Your grace, mercy and love, AMEN!!!

John 14:25-29 (NLT); 25 I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. 26 But when the Father sends the Helper, the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. 27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. 28 Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am. 29 I have told you these things before they happen so that when they do happen, you will believe.

I was thinking this morning of a Tiktok my son showed me where someone was adamant that they must have physical proof that Jesus existed or that they are created from God. And then I was led to verse 27 here where we get to receive a gift of peace and of heart from Jesus, from someone unseen. Stepping out in faith is stepping out into the unknown. I never know where the Helper will take me each day and to be honest, the journey is quite extraordinary! The person in the Tiktok will never understand verse 27 unless they start to believe and walk in faith. It is ironic to think that our biggest fan – Jesus, our closest and most trusted mentor and teacher – the Holy Spirit, and God the Father are all unseen but live in me. It is in verse 27 where we feel part of the One Body the most, Jesus giving us His heart, and our response should only be to give Him ours as well! I think these people are missing out on something awesome, wondrous, and supernatural and that leads us to find a joy like no other source can bring. I think we should pray for those less fortunate that they find Jesus, the Helper and the Father intact and inside them.

Lord, today I pray that those less fortunate than me find You as I have. It is truly a hard task to try to inspire a non-believer into knowing You are there and knowing that everything was created by the Father through You Jesus. I also pray for those non-believers to find purpose in You so they can truly find joy in the gift of peace of mind and heart from You Jesus. My day would be void without this gift Lord, so I pray that those who have not found You yet do so soon and become part of You, the One Body and know the Son of the Father the Creator. In Your name Jesus I praise and pray, AMEN!!! Love, Jon Mikkelsen
