There are some realities in life that catch us off guard. We plan for the future, work hard to build healthy families, pursue purpose, and try to move forward faithfully, yet even in seasons where we are walking with God, we still encounter opposition. Temptation comes unexpectedly. Discouragement settles in. Fear whispers. Division finds its way into relationships. Doubt challenges conviction. Scripture never teaches us to be surprised by these moments. In fact, one of the clearest truths of the Christian life is this: if we are walking with Christ, we are also walking through a battlefield. We have a spiritual enemy who works to deceive, discourage, divide, and distract. The presence of spiritual conflict is not evidence that God has abandoned us, it is part of living faithfully in a broken world.
The encouraging news is that God never calls His people into a battle without giving them what they need to stand. The armour of God is not a survival kit for an uncertain outcome; it is provision from a victory Christ has already secured. Every piece of armour reveals something about how our enemy works and how God strengthens His people to prevail. But armour hanging in a locker does not protect a soldier on the battlefield. It must be put on daily. This Sunday, May 24, as we open Ephesians 6:10–18, we are going to discover what it means to get “Geared Up” not living fearful of spiritual opposition, not blindsided by life’s battles, but clothed in God’s strength and equipped to stand firm.
