A Night of Joy and Unity: St. Kuriakose Syriac Orthodox Church , Brantford Hosts First Parish Night

On May 17, St. Kuriakose Syriac Orthodox Church in Brantford hosted its first Parish Night. The event was led by parish priest Fr. Kurian Mathew, with the presence and guidance of Canada Region Administrator Fr. Aby Mathew. Fr. Manu, priest of the Hamilton church, also attended the gathering and blessed the program.

The evening was a memorable celebration filled with inspiring performances, prayers, and fellowship over food, bringing the entire community together in joy and unity.

Sunday School Teachers’ Training

St. Jacob’s Syriac Orthodox Church, Edmonton successfully hosted the Region 5 Sunday School Teachers’ Training Session on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

Dr George Aramath, Director of MSOSSA Curriculum and Syllabus Revision, served as the keynote speaker and led the core training modules, providing valuable guidance, practical instructional insights, and strategic encouragement to all participating educators.

The regional event was further enriched by the presence of Meena Joy, Director of MSOSSA at the Archdiocese, who delivered a warm and inspiring felicitation address. Special appreciation is extended to Rincy Sara Uthuppu, Regional Director of Region 5 West, for her dedicated leadership and operational efforts in organising the program.

The public meeting commenced with an opening prayer led by Vicar Fr. Thomas K. Poothicote. Following the initial invocation, official greetings and felicitations were shared by a panel of administrative and educational representatives, including Dn. Jobin Chacko from the Remote Sunday School division, Mr Bonny Onat representing Calgary St. Thomas Sunday School, Mr Basil Mathew, Church Secretary, and Mrs Antu Peter, Assistant Principal of the Sunday School. Mr Kuriakose Varghese and Mrs Winnie Alex also offered remarks on behalf of the Sunday School Parent-Teacher Association.

In closing, the parish expressed its sincere gratitude to Almighty God for the opportunity to host this successful regional gathering, extending heartfelt thanks to all coordinators, volunteers, and parish managing committee members who worked diligently behind the scenes to make the program a success.
