“Freedom is not the absence of chains. Freedom is the presence of Christ. Did you hear that? Freedom is not the absence of the chains. Freedom is the power of Jesus in amongst those chains. God did not free you from something. He freed you for something.”

“Last week, I talked about how the enemy doesn't show us a chain, he shows us a link. And we say, well, it's just once. Just this one time pastor, just this one time God. Just this one little slip up and, well, I won't do it again. Well, you know what? Before long, we start to compromise and, well, that wasn't so bad.”

“Friends, the greatest prison is not always around you. Sometimes it's the one keeping you bound up within yourself. Stop visiting old graves. Church, some of us keep revisiting things God has already dealt with. We keep reopening what God already closed. We keep rehearsing what God already redeemed. We keep carrying what Jesus already carried. And we keep reliving what God already forgave.”

“If we're honest, some of us have a habit of picking things up that we've been told to leave behind. We leave bitterness at the altar and then pick it up on Monday. We leave fear at the cross and then we pick it up on Tuesday. We leave unforgiveness in God's hands and then we pick it up on Wednesday. We leave compromise at the altar and then we pick it up again the moment temptation appears.”

🎒📚 Back to School Sunday at SouthPort 📚🎒

We’re doing something NEW at SouthPort Church, and we are so excited about it!

This Sunday, we’re inviting all students to BRING YOUR BACKPACK TO CHURCH! 🎒

As our children and young people head into another school year, we want them to know that they are supported—and more importantly, that Jesus goes with them wherever they go.

✨ Every student will receive a special SouthPort backpack name tag.
📖 Every student will receive a Bible.
🙏 We’ll take time during the service to pray a special blessing over our students, teachers, educational assistants, administrators, bus drivers, support staff, and everyone serving in our schools.

We believe prayer matters. We want to send our students into this new school year knowing they are loved, prayed for, and never alone.

Bring your backpack, bring your family, and invite someone to join you!

📅 Sunday, September 6, 2026
⏰ 10:30 a.m.
📍 SouthPort Church6 Carlisle Street, Southampton

ALL ARE WELCOME! ❤️

Let’s begin this school year together with Jesus at the centre.

“And I believe each one of us, we're gonna ask the Lord of the harvest, but we're also gonna pray as a way like, God, I pray that we could tear a student out of the hands of the enemy and say, welcome to life. Welcome to joy. Welcome to purpose. Welcome to community. That we will tear them out of the enemy's hands and say, we've got something exciting for you. We've got something life giving for you.”

“Ask the Lord of the harvest to draw out, not just send send out. That word send out, there's so much in it, to draw out or even pluck out. Or sometimes when this bible comes up, it means tear out. Like, I mean, grab by the collar. Right? And I don't care if his ankle is broken or not. It's like, we're gonna do youth ministry together, and it's gonna be great, Scott. We're gonna do it. We're gonna work together. Where are you going? We're gonna make this work, and you could do this.”
