Filipino Community Church - Ottawa

Filipino Community Church - Ottawa lovers of Jesus...
friends of the Christ-less...
sharers of the Good news. You will feel at home with us.

We are a growing family of about 90 people from little babies to grandparents. If you speak any of the following languages -- Tagalog, Ilocano, Visayan and Ilonggo -- you will fit right in. Many of us work in the government, at homes as caregivers and in the business and industrial sector. Join us and be refreshed when we meet as cell groups in the homes during the week or when we worship on Sunda

y. Throughout the year we have great celebrations honoring our fathers, mothers, couples and our children. Every August is camp time and we all live in our tents for two to three days. Other great fun events are the anniversary in September… the Thanksgiving Day in October and the Christmas in December. Doctrinally, we are evangelicals -- Christ-centered, Bible-based, Spirit-filled, Mission-oriented and under the Christian & Missionary Alliance of Canada. Traditionally, the FCC family welcomes everyone, who just recently arrived from other country, with a small token The Mabuhay Box that will help the family start their new life in this city with the spirit of Love.

Third Sunday after Pentecost
Matthew 9:35-38

35 Jesus went around visiting all the towns and villages. He taught in the synagogues, preached the Good News about the Kingdom, and healed people with every kind of disease and sickness. 36 As he saw the crowds, his heart was filled with pity for them, because they were worried and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 So he said to his disciples, “The harvest is large, but there are few workers to gather it in. 38 Pray to the owner of the harvest that he will send out workers to gather in his harvest.”

As we move forward in this season after the Pentecost when the Holy Spirit supernaturally empowered the disciples for ministry and preaching of the Gospel to the nations, we are invited to reflect on the time that they were commissioned by Jesus to go to the lost sheep of Israel, preach the Gospel of the Kingdom, and heal people from their diseases (Matt 10:5-8). This is the immediate fulfilment of the prayer for the Lord of the harvest to send workers because the harvest is great but the workers are few (Matt 9:37-38).

In light of this, the church is invited to reflect on our calling not just to preach the Gospel of salvation but to facilitate healing for people and for the nations. What does it mean to follow Jesus and be sent into the world to become agents of his salvation and healing? How can we fulfill this responsibility and what does it take for us to become representatives of Jesus and become his instruments of healing and salvation?

Join us this Sunday as we lean on this important lesson for the church today.

Our service starts at 1:30pm.

YOU ARE WITNESSES
Luke 24:44-53
___________________________

Seventh Sunday of Easter. We will reflect on the last moment of Jesus with his disciples before he left them to be with his Father in heaven.

On this final moment, Jesus tells his disciples, "You are witnesses of these things." (Luke 24:48) This sounds like a common question, but what does it mean to be a witness for Jesus?

Apparently, a witness is someone who testifies about the truthfulness of an event or an information. A witness must be credible, someone who possesses the moral and spiritual integrity to represent the truth. When the truth is proclaimed there is joy and blessing because of the freedom and salvation it brings to people.

Join us this Sunday as we continue to meditate on these words of Jesus, and together let us explore the meaning of becoming a witness for Christ, and discover the blessings of proclaiming the truth so that people can experience salvation and transformation through the forgiveness of sins.

Our worship starts at 1:30pm.
