We gather on Good Friday to remember the day that changed everything; when the Son of God gave his life for the world.

Good Friday is the heart of the Christian story. Before the resurrection, there was the cross. Before the empty tomb, there was the darkness.

Join us as we walk through the story of Jesus from Gethsemane to Golgotha. Jesus’ arrest, his trial, his crucifixion, and his death. We will hear the ancient words of Scripture read aloud, we will lift our voices in worship, and we will close the evening gathered around the table of the Lord.

What to expect:
- Scripture - Readings from the prophets and the Gospels to guide us through the passion narrative.
- Worship - Songs that sit with the weight of the cross
- Communion - We take communion together, bread and cup, remembering the body and blood of Christ.
- Candle Lighting - We close in candlelight; a quiet moment to mark his death and hold the hope of Sunday.

This is a service for everyone. Whether you have walked with Jesus for decades or are coming for the very first time. There is room for you here. All are welcome to remember with us at this 1 hour service.

Honouring the Life of Levi Lord

Nathaniel and Jocelyn Lord invite you to the Celebration of Life for their son, Levi Lord, taking place on Saturday, December 6th at 1:30pm at The Nanaimo Christian School.

Levi Lord passed away unexpectedly and tragically on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025. He was a kind, deeply loved child in our community who was wild and full-of-wonder. His sudden passing has brought immense grief to his family and to all in the community who have walked alongside Levi and the family.

As we mourn this heartbreaking loss, we also gather to honour the gift of Levi’s life and the light he shared with so many.

This service will be a space to remember Levi well, and to find comfort together in the presence of God and one another. We will worship, share memories, pray, and hold fast to the promise of Jesus.

All are welcome to attend, friends, neighbours, children, and members of the wider community who have been touched by Levi’s life or by the Lord family.

After the service, everyone is warmly invited to remain for a time of fellowship. Food and refreshments will be provided.

In this season of profound grief, please continue to pray for Nate, Jocelyn, Amelia, and Claire, along with their extended family. Your prayers, presence, and compassion mean more than words can express.

A live-stream of the service for family and community who are unable to attend will be available here: https://www.youtube.com// or by searching for "Oceanside Church Nanaimo" on any smart device with YouTube.

Michael John Graves (1959–2025)
Faithful husband, father, pastor, and friend

It is with deep sorrow, yet with profound gratitude, that we announce the passing of Michael Graves, our founder, who went peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in the early hours of October 25, 2025.

Michael will be remembered as a man whose life was marked by unwavering faith in Jesus and an enduring love for God’s people. Pioneering from South Africa together with his wife, Deborah, Michael planted Oceanside Church Nanaimo in 1997, faithfully serving the community for nearly three decades. Through his obedience to the call of God, countless lives were touched.

To properly honour him, a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, November 10, at 2:00pm, at The Nanaimo Christian School, and all are warmly invited to attend. Please bring a plate of appetizers or treats to share as a community after the service.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Deborah, their children Byron, Gareth, and Michal, and his grandchildren, as well as by the extended Oceanside Church family and many dear friends across the world.

Mike fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. We thank God for the impact of his life and for the hope of seeing him again in the presence of Jesus Christ.

Thank you, Michael, for what you gave us.

We are still blown away by what God did this Easter!

If you weren’t able to make it, this Easter we had the joy of hosting a powerful story walk through of the life of Jesus from His miracles to His death and resurrection. We also had a fun Easter egg hunt and outdoor hang for the whole community to be a part of!

This outreach was such a great success with us seeing over 1000 people come out from around the city to hear about the gospel and the love of Jesus! This was all thanks to our incredible team of volunteers who served so hard and brought their A-Game as actors for our walk through!

It was such a great joy to be able to put this on, thank you to everyone who was involved in making this incredible day happen!! 🥳
