Faithful ministry does not always follow the original plan.

When travel restrictions prevented an experienced agronomist from the Democratic Republic of Congo from joining farmers and field teams in South Sudan, an agricultural mentorship program led by FEBAC had to pause. But the work did not stop.

Local leaders continued building the knowledge and skills of farmers participating in the food security program. Their leadership has contributed to stronger agricultural production and meaningful increases in food grown.

This is one example of how CBM’s partners adapt when circumstances shift. Across Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Middle East, local churches and Christian leaders continue to respond with wisdom and perseverance.

Today, on the International Day of the Girl Child, we pause to pray for girls around the world. 🌸

We’re sharing a prayer from Seasons of Prayer, written by Laura Muema, CBM’s Program and SENT Coordinator for Africa.

The prayer reminds us of the dignity and God-given potential of every girl. It calls us to pray for girls to be protected, encouraged, heard, and given opportunities to grow and flourish.

As we reflect on the hopes and challenges girls face around the world, may we continue to pray for communities where every girl can know her worth, discover her gifts, and grow into the future God has for her.

Earlier this month, our Canadian-based staff came together for a week of strategic meetings, collaboration, team building, and time to think together about the work we’re doing and where we’re headed.

But it wasn’t all meetings! There was also plenty of time to connect outside of the work, enjoy some friendly competition, share a few laughs, and simply spend time together.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to bring some of our staff together in one place. Weeks like this remind us how valuable it is to make space for both focused work and meaningful connection.

We were grateful to gather with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank community for a screening of Restoring Landscapes, Strengthening Communities and to learn more about the Nature+ initiative.

Over the past two years, 10 local partners, 9 Foodgrains Bank member agencies, and 6 technical support partners have come together through Nature+ to restore landscapes, strengthen livelihoods, and support more resilient communities across Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.

Now, that work has been brought together in an inspiring film that celebrates what can happen when people work together to care for creation and for one another. We’re grateful for the opportunity to be reminded of the ways we can care for creation and our neighbours together.

On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to listen, remember, and pray. 🧡

We’re sharing a prayer from our Fall Seasons of Prayer, written by Danny Zacharias, Associate Dean at Acadia Divinity College, and Catherine Cole, our Team Lead, Communications.

The prayer invites us to face the truth with courage and to honour the stories and experiences of Indigenous peoples. It reminds us that reconciliation requires humility and a willingness to walk together toward healing.

May we continue to listen and learn as we seek to live out the call to justice, love, and faithful companionship.

When circumstances shift, CBM stands with partners who are already responding.

In Lebanon, Tahaddi Health Center reached its annual estimate for medical treatments and social work appointments only halfway through the year. Rising costs, growing demand, and reduced assistance from other organizations are placing greater pressure on the care families can access.

Tahaddi’s team continues to adapt with wisdom, making careful decisions so essential services remain within reach for as many people as possible.

This is one example of how CBM’s partners are responding faithfully in demanding situations. Across the Middle East and around the world, local churches and Christian leaders continue to serve their communities with courage, compassion, and hope.
