Jesus never promised His followers a trouble-free life. In fact, He warned them that persecution, sorrow, and hardship were coming. But He also promised the Holy Spirit, lasting joy, and peace in the midst of it all.

Using the remarkable rescue of 33 Chilean miners, we explore what it means to trust Jesus when life seems hopeless and why we can face an uncertain future with absolute confidence.

This week we are in John 12:20–50.

Jesus knows the cross is right in front of Him, and He begins to explain what His death is going to accomplish, what it means to actually follow Him, and why people can see the same light and respond to it so differently.

Some believe. Some are afraid of people. Some love their own lives too much. Some would rather stay in the darkness.

But Jesus says He came into the world to save it.

So the question running through the passage is pretty simple: when the light of Jesus is in front of us, what are we going to do with it?

This Sunday we continue our Behold Your KING series through the Gospel of John.

In John 6:60–71, many of Jesus’ disciples hear His teaching and say, “This is a hard saying; who can listen to it?” And from that moment, many turn back and no longer walk with Him.

Jesus does not soften the truth to keep the crowd. Instead, He exposes the difference between those who are offended by His words and those who know there is nowhere else to go.

Peter’s answer says it well:

“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
— John 6:68

Join us this Sunday as we look at what happens when Jesus’ words confront us, offend us, and call us to real faith.
