“We are all seen by the universe, and we are all loved. And it's us that kind of shies away from it at times when we're feeling not worthy of that love. We shut down. We close off, and they can't reach us. I mean, they're around us. They're sending the love, but it's mainly trickling in. So if we recognize that, oh, I'm closed off, what can I do? Get a cushion, go sit outside… even in the rain, something interesting is going on about how the movement of the rain is getting the leaves to move and how things connect. Your brain is ready to see the good and see the patterns that will pull you free.” – Karlin Creed, inspired address from June 14, 2026 Sunday service

“There are so many things to notice, whether it's one day, there's no flowers, and the next day, there's buds, and the next day, there's a beautiful open flower to look at, which draws the bees and the butterflies. And when you were little, you noticed them, and you examined them deeply, because they're about your height, and you get excited when you see them. As an adult, sometimes you get too busy, too busy planning for what will be, fussing over what already has been, and you don't see the miracle of spring. That wondrous reminder that life is eternal, that the plants that have slept through the cold winter are now re-emerging, not exactly the same way they were last year, but nevertheless, they are beautiful. So many people waste energy on regret. Acknowledge the things that you regret, that you might have done or said, learn from them, and then move forward. You cannot change the past.” – Rev. Patricia Gunn, June 7, 2026 Sunday service, Cowichan Spiritualist Church

"We aren't just passive passengers in our life. We are the action person, and so it is our responsibility to find those ways to grow ourselves spiritually. And one way that we can do that, of course, one important way that we're called upon is finding time every day to sit with Spirit.... Sometimes we try this out and we find that we're not very good at it, that our mind wanders, that we are stuck in our head, that it's really challenging to stay quite present in the moment.... If we continue the practice, we'll be given those gifts and just like a muscle being practiced, it will get easier in that connection to the divine will get stronger. If we don't do that, what tends to happen is the distractions of daily life become only what we see and experience in life because there are so many distractions. And so learning how to surrender and let go is part of learning how to be present, and how to sit with the divine." - Elaine Robinson, inspired address, May 31, 2026 Sunday service, Cowichan Spiritualist Church of Healing and Light.

“There's another saying: If you have a choice, if all things are equal and you have a choice between being kind or being correct, choose kindness. It will win you more benefits, it will generate more benefits. Being right can be downright obnoxious, right? Particularly if you kind of grind it into someone's face. Being kind wins you brownie points forever. And it's so easy, but it is a choice. So if you can make the choice, be kind.” - Rev. Malcolm Gloster, inspired address from May 24, 2026 Sunday Service, Cowichan Spiritualist Church

“There's a kind of different connection that will happen if you're praying, not for yourself, or at least not for yourself alone, but praying for others and the main idea that you have when you're praying is to help the others. If it helps you, that’s secondary in your mind. Just as there's a gift that you're given when you pray, if it's inspired by something wonderful, maybe a beautiful sunset, maybe a flower, maybe a wonderful performance in a concert or a theatre, and you don't know who you're praying to, you just say, thank you for letting me be here and experience this. As soon as you say that prayer, you feel a connection, an in-rushing of positive energy, love, or at least inspiration come into you because of your prayer. You didn't ask for that. That's the gift that comes because of your prayer.” - Bruce Mason, inspired address May 17, 2026, Cowichan Spiritualist Church
