Today is the National Day of Awareness and Remembrance for the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQI+ people (MMIWG2S). Also known as "Red Dress Day’, it is an opportunity to honour the countless MMIWG2S people who have disappeared or been victims of violence. Red Dress Day dates back to 2010, when a Métis artist named Jaime Black created a startling art installation by hanging red dresses around Winnipeg as a visual representation of the suffering and death of so many Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people across Canada. The haunting sight of empty red dresses hanging in public places, from trees to lamp posts, was meant to call attention to the startlingly high rates of violence that Indigenous women experience. Recent statistics reflect that First Nation, Métis, and Inuit women and girls are 12 times more likely to be murdered or go missing compared to any other demographic in Canada.

Let us pray: Creator, we hold in our hearts all of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit people, and we pray for their families, friends, and communities who continue to live with the pain of losing their loved ones. Wrap them in comfort, strength, and love, and bring healing to the wounds that are still open, and peace to those who continue to seek answers. Amen

Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe has officially proclaimed April 7, 2026, as Anglican Diocese of Ottawa Historical Day.

The Mayor’s Proclamation lists three major milestones:
• 130th Anniversary: Marking 130 years since the Diocese was established in 1896.
• Community Service: Giving thanks for the Diocese's ongoing work supporting local churches, nurturing faith, and serving people in need through its Community Ministries across the Ottawa region.
• Celebrating Women's Leadership: Honouring the 50th anniversary of the ordination of women in the Anglican Church of Canada and celebrating the election of the first female bishop, Kathryn Otley.

Join us in celebrating this recognition from the City of Ottawa!

In January, I made a solidarity visit to our siblings in the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, bringing with me the love and support of the Anglican Church of Canada. The situation faced by Palestinian Christians—and Palestinians in general—is extremely challenging.

Please join us for the first official celebration of Easter! The Easter Vigil celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, and marks the transition from mourning to joy, through the Service of Light, Liturgy of the Word, renewal of baptismal vows, and the Holy Eucharist. We will begin on the lawn outside the doors to the parish hall, where the Paschal Candle will be lit from the vigil fire, and then as we share the light of Christ, we will process into the sanctuary for the remainder of the service. After the service, we will continue the celebration with light refreshments in the hall. All are welcome!
