What kind of vessel is your church? A cruise ship built for comfort? A destroyer ready for battle? A submarine staying safely off the radar? These are the questions Walter Hiebert brought to us this Sunday from 1 Peter 2:9-10, reminding us that we are called out of darkness into God's marvelous light -- not to keep that light to ourselves, but to declare his praises.

Praise, Walter reminded us, is not just singing on Sunday. It is the fruit of a life spent in prayer. As Hebrews 13:15 describes, it is a sacrifice -- the fruit of lips that openly confess his name. Prayer is the work. Praise is the reward of that work.

And the one worthy of all of it? Jesus -- the light of the world, the captain of our souls, the one who called us out of darkness.

Are you pouring out your praise to him today?

🍂 The best feast of the year is just days away! Join us this coming Sunday for our annual Thanksgiving Potluck! We need your help to round out the table. Please bring along a favorite hot dish, salad, or dessert to share with everyone.

As an extra-special treat, we are also hosting our highly anticipated Meal Auction this coming Sunday! Come ready to bid on some incredible homemade creations, meal packages, and treats. It is going to be a fantastic day filled with great food, wonderful community, and a lot of fun.

No matter where you were born, what language you speak, or what borders define your home, you belong to something greater. As 1 Peter 2:9 reminds us, we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, set apart for God's special purposes.

This Sunday we explored what it means to be a scattered nation, citizens of a kingdom not confined by borders but united under one King. Like Daniel in Babylon, we are called to live by a higher standard, not by the culture around us, but by the Word and example of Jesus Christ.

The world does not need more power. It needs a better example. When we abstain from what wages war against our soul and live faithfully among those around us, our lives become a declaration of praise to the God who called us out of darkness.

You were made for more. Come discover what that means.

When we come to believe that we are adopted into God's family, we're not condemned. We are not condemned. We are not condemned. We are God's royal priests and we will start to live differently because we will know who we are in Christ.

Do you know who you are in Christ? This Thanksgiving weekend, Pastor Jeff brought a powerful message on adoption — how God has not just welcomed us, but given us the full legal rights of his own children.

Romans 8:15 reminds us that the Spirit we received brought about our adoption, and through him we cry, "Abba, Father." There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. We are not abandoned. We are chosen, claimed, and written into God's will.

What we believe about ourselves shapes how we live. When we truly grasp that we are God's royal priesthood and his adopted children, it changes everything — how we love, how we serve, and how we share that hope with others.

You are not condemned. You belong to him. Let that truth shape your identity today.
