And let us add: pray for one another. "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." Ephesians 6:18

This is a hard time. It's getting dark and cold and it's only gonna get darker and colder.

Some days, you might have a little gas in your tank. These are the days to write a couple texts to someone who is struggling, or pull out a card and a stamp and pop something in the mail for someone who is alone. Maybe make a casserole for a teacher and his/her family. It will make a difference to them--and it will be good for you. Our brains revel in making a difference in the life of another.

Other days, you will be too discouraged. It will be too hard to show up. Tears will be close, and despair knocks at your door. On those days, let someone know. Not on Facebook to hundreds of people. To one person. And be clear--unambiguous. Make it impossible for them to not understand that this is a hard day. Let another person love on you a bit. It won't change your world. It won't transform it. But maybe, just maybe, it will help you just barely--enough to make it through the day.

Sometimes you give. Sometimes you receive. Both are OK.

We aren't all OK all the time. On the days you're struggling, it's OK to not be OK.

Wonderful thoughts for today.

The Path of Descent is very real and usually very painful, but something else is equally true. Love is both who we are and who we are still becoming, like a sunflower seed that becomes its own sunflower. It seems to be a fully cooperative effort according to St. Paul (Romans 8:28), and according to....

If your Facebook feed is at all like mine these days, it's flooded with posts about the coronavirus and spinoffs of same. How do we respond? Perhaps by praying this prayer from Richard Rohr, which has been the closing of each of his daily meditations since January 1:

Prayer for Our Community:
O Great Love, thank you for living and loving in us and through us. May all that we do flow from our deep connection with you and all beings. Help us become a community that vulnerably shares each other’s burdens and the weight of glory. Listen to our hearts’ longings for the healing of our world. [Please add your own intentions.] . . . Knowing you are hearing us better than we are speaking, we offer these prayers in all the holy names of God, amen.

I just invested six minutes of my day to watch this. I invite you to as well.
