Message: God Looks at the Heart
By: Mr Molatedi
Scripture: 1 Samuel 16 vs 7
We live in a world that is obsessed with appearance, a world that judges with sight. But God looks at the inside, examining the motives. God values more the condition of the heart than the outward appearance. God is not a man. We humans Care more about how things look outside. Us believers are also not different, we use physical attributes to guide our decisions.
A polished appearance can hide a corrupt heart, while an ordinary looking person can have extraordinary devotion to God. In the case of the Israelites seeking for a King, Saul with his stature and looks was abandoned but David the shepherd boy, with a small physique was appointed King. They didn't expect David to be made their King. What made David special before God was his heart of worship even in secret, a courageous heart when faced with challenges that seemed too great for him like Goliath. He had a repentant heart, and he repented sincerely. In Psalm 51, one of his cries was that God should create in him a clean heart.
***Don't be deceived by appearance.***
God is not looking for perfect people but people with surrendered hearts. Whilst we are trying to measure the level of education, wealth and even beauty of other people to know if we can associate with them, God searches for love, faith, integrity, obedience as well as humility. We need reconditioning of our hearts. Just like with an old car but with a newly built engine can function like a new car, with reconditioned hearts we can be made anew.
***Give your heart to God.***
Some of us are overlooked in the respective place we are meant to be of value or loved. We are overlooked because of how lacking we may be physically but that is not God to us. He searches our hearts and because of what is valuable that is in our hearts He will choose us. A heart can be bitter, proud, double minded, hardened, hateful and harbor all sorts of evil. That is why we are to guard it as everything flows from it. Good or bad flows from the heart and that contributes to our lives, our relationships, health, our spirituality, our words.
***True righteousness starts from the heart.***
***As God creates a new heart for you, guard it at all costs.***
Prayer; Lord, I have had Your Word, create in me a new, clean heart. A heart that seeks Your will above all else and is surrendered to it. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Declaration; "God, that new and clean heart, I shall guard it in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
