Message: Faith In Crisis

Scripture: Job 1 vs 1 to 22

Sometimes we wonder how we are to maintain trust when the circumstances overwhelm us. And we meet Job who lost all his children, wealth and health in one day. Like us when we are faced with challenges, he too must have been wrestling with why it all happened to him. But God is the one who had allowed it to happen according to verse 8 and it was because he was faithful. Some of the challenges we go through are because God has allowed them and we are still to remain faithful through them.

Psalm 23 vs 4 highlights for us that we may walk through difficult time but God is always there to comfort us. We may be born again but that doesn't mean we escape troubles.

Sometimes we face;

Financial Challenges- where we have no means to provide for ourselves and our loved ones whether because of lack the very source, misuse or insufficiency, but we have to always remember that God still provides.

Academic Challenges- we study hard,finish our work on time and even get better marks on exercises but never during exams. But let that not destroy us but rather strengthen our resolve.

Professional Challenges- trouble in our workplaces from co-workers, no promotion no matter how hard we work and produce results which others get from little to no work, work piled on us as if we are slaves. Let us allow ourselves to be tested and remain in faith while at it.

2 Corinthians 12 vs 9 encourages us to find strength in God in our personal crisis. While we are still asking "why me?", we still need to lean on God. Have faith in crisis.

Spiritual Challenges- There are times when we feel abandoned by God. We face repeated hardships. Most of the time this happens when we are about to make major life changing decisions. When we see ourselves walking the right path until something goes wrong unexpectedly. We wrestle with pride and anger sometimes as we try to maintain the righteous path in a difficult and tempting moment. We need to endure through it all.

Family and Marital Challenges- Some of our families are unstable, happy today and at conflict the next. We loose our loved ones and partners. A lot happens in families but we need to hold on regardless.

Health Challenges- a constant life of pain and weakness on our bodies is a crisis. Sometimes we are sick from what even the doctors cannot diagnose but that is not meant to take away our faith because God still lives.

Romans 8 vs 28 tells us that all things work together for good for those who love God. We need to keep trusting Him and acknowledging Him in our lives. We don't have to always trust God because of what He has done for us but because of who He is.

***No matter the crisis, trust in God.***

***Never allow your challenges to write your future, God has already written it for you.

Prayer; Father, I have heard Your Word, teach me to trust in You at all times. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Declaration; "I will never allow the crisis I go through to write my destiny, but I will keep trusting God. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen."

Message: It Is Well

Scripture: Exodus 3 vs 7 to 21
James 1 vs 1 to 4

When the Israelites were made slaves in Egypt. God appeared to Moses in verse 7 of Exodus chapter 3 saying, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. "

God saw His people suffering and heard them when they cried to Him. They had been slaves for a long time and in that time He said nothing. That does not mean He was sitting idle. He was quietly devising the perfect plan for their deliverance. We, like the Israelites, often find ourselves in situations where we feel like God is distant and not intervening. But that is not what is happening. He is not working on our time, but His perfect time. He is not going to save us the way we want, but in His own perfect way.

For the Israelites, God sent Moses to save them. Moses who did not obey immediately. Instead he gave excuses to why he is not the ideal man for the job. For us it may be God using us as our own solutions, our friends even strangers. What is certain is that God will come to our rescue. It becomes a problem when we become a hindrance in His plan. Either by questioning His response or we become impatient enough to a point where we ordain the devil the main character in our situations. We declare ourselves defeated by him. This is something we do often when we encounter challenges. We credit the devil before we turn to God.

There's this "it is well", that we only say with our lips while our hearts are still doubting. It must cease from our mouths. Rather, we must say "it is well" with absolute faith in God.

When Moses was listening his weaknesses and all kinds of impossibilities, God already had solutions for them. He had already appointed Aaron to be Moses spokesman when Moses said he doesn't know how to speak. He had a plan to make it possible that the Egyptians grant them their requests before releasing them when Moses declared it a difficult task to face Pharoah. We must know too that God knows all about us and our challenges. He has a solution to them all.

The book of James tells us to count it all joy when facing problems. That is not because it is exciting to be contending but because there is a positive ending to it. When we are done crying because it is obviously burdensome, the next thing to do is to exercise faith and hand over our problems to God knowing He will unravel them. Job, a faithful and righteousness servant of God was inflicted with so much pain even on his body(It took 37 chapters before God gave a response). Which God allowed, mind you. But he said he would rather curse the day He was born than deny God. He was restored twofold.

God declared Himself as "I AM that I Am". A never changing God. If He did it for Job, the Israelites, and has promised to do it for us, then He will do it. It won't be easy, either, but keep the faith, keep the focus in Him.

Challenges are guaranteed in this life, but, It Is well with us. As long as God is on our side.

Challenge: Before you credit the devil and succumb to his tricks whenever you are faced with difficult situations, ask God what He intends to teach you from such an experience.
***The most fostered outcome is the strengthening of Our Faith and deepening of Our relationship with God.

Message: The Holy Spirit

Scripture: John 6 vs 63

From the verse, we learn of the role of the Spirit in our lives. He is the one who gives us life. And there are four principles that can be derived from the scripture:

1, We must Receive Life from the Holy Spirit - Jesus says that true life, eternal life as well as spiritual life comes from the Spirit. None of it comes from human effort. We need life from the Holy Spirit. We can be physically alive but spiritually dead. In that state we are people who have not received the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one who awakens our hearts and helps us believe in Jesus and live according to His Will. Worldly people are reliant on their own efforts but we rely on the Holy Spirit.

2, We must Realize that We Cannot Rely on the Flesh - "the flesh profits nothing." The flesh here is our human efforts. Our physical capabilities. Quote, "Your intelligence, your strength and your hard work can take you somewhere, but the Holy Spirit will take you everywhere." Proverbs 3 vs 5 advises us to trust the Lord wholeheartedly and not lean on our own understanding. If we are to rely on our abilities, we are only deceiving ourselves. We can do nothing without the Holy Spirit. We need God's grace and this helps us to be humble before God. A void that can never be filled with achievements can only be filled by the Holy Spirit.

3, The Flesh of Christ has a Special Role in Us Being Saved - We are where we are because of the sacrifice Jesus made. Earlier in the chapter, Jesus presents Himself as the bread of life, referring to His body. When He said that the flesh profits nothing, He was not talking about His flesh. His flesh can profit us everything, and it even afforded us our lives. The flesh He was referring to was ours. His body was sacrificed for our eternal life, hence our third principle.

4, The Words of Jesus are Important in Our Spiritual Life - "The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." This is what Jesus said. His words are not just good advice. To those who believe, they bring life. We can talk about God's Word and hear His teachings, but they are only purposeful only when we believe them. We must read, study and meditate on the Word of God, as well as obey it. The spirit man needs God's Word daily just as the body needs food daily. We must meditate daily on the Word of God.

It is the Spirit that gives us life. He is the one who draws us closer to Christ, exalting Him as the living power. We worship the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Together they give us our salvation. Now we need to make sure to rely solely on the Holy Spirit. Let us keep inquiring from Him what the will of the Father is concerning our lives. What is not meant for you will never work for you, even with repeated trials. We need to take all our desires and dreams to God to inquire if it is the Will of God.

God's thoughts are not our thoughts, and in everything we need to trust God's timing since everything has its season and He always ensures that everything is done or happens at its perfect time.

Message: Let the Eyes of Man See and The Ears Hear the Voice of God

Scripture: Genesis 12

A specific command came to Abraham, to leave his nation and his father's house. After that command followed the promises of God to him. But Abraham took his nephew with him. As we go down the passage, it indicates that a conflict that could have been avoided occurred between them, and they had to go their separate ways. Only then did God continue with His instructions to him and started on fulfilling His promises towards him.

Abraham's disobedience cost him the manifestation of God's promise to him. It was until he fully obeyed that the fruition of God's Word came to be. When God gives us instructions and His Word, it is through us being attentive and obedient that we can be able to fulfill it. If we need further guidance, it is by going back to God, to inquire from Him that we can move forward. We won't get the solutions to the situations we encourage by relying on ourselves and other people alone. He who began a good work in us will finish it.

At times we meet our limitations from realizing the will of God because we cut the process short and focus on making it on our own little do we know that we have limited capacity. One of the things that shows our limitations is our thinking capacity. The mind can be a hindrance to our hearing of God as well as our progress. "As a man thinketh..." We manifest what we can conceive in our mind, and the mind itself is a battle ground. That is why it ought to be renewed. And it is by avoiding all the noise and seeking to be in a place where the voice of God can reach us clearly.

Some of our limitations come from our character. Things like pride and stubbornness. Those things are a hindrance to what God can do in our lives. The reference is the Israelites who took 40 years to get to the promised land while losing their lives, meanwhile they could have taken 40 days to reach the place. And Hebrews 3 vs 7 to 11 warns us not to follow in their footsteps. God won't stop talking but we are the ones who need to surrender and ask Him to help us change our characters.

Another hindrance is the devil himself fighting in the spiritual realm. While Daniel was waiting for a response from God, there was a battle that delayed the answer for 21 days until angel Michael came to help the angel who was carrying the response. And Daniel never stopped praying for those 21 days and that is what we must do as Christians. To pray without ceasing, always contending for what we ought to.

We must be vigilant at all times, seeking the Word of God, and being attentive as well as obedient to it.

Prayer; Father, open my eyes and open my ears. Teach me your voice and teach me Your ways. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
