This December, Follow the Star invites you to step away from the rush of the season and journey back to where Christmas began.

Come and experience the wonder, joy and hope of the Christmas story brought to life at The Goods Shed in Toowoomba.

Follow the Star Returns to Toowoomba in 2026

Come and experience the Christmas story brought to life

Last December, something extraordinary happened at The Goods Shed in Toowoomba.

Across five unforgettable nights, more than 3,000 people stepped out of modern-day Toowoomba and into the world of the very first Christmas. Families, children, grandparents, church communities and curious visitors came together to experience a story that has been told for generations—but rarely experienced quite like this.

More than 120 cast members, crew and volunteers worked together to create a large-scale, live nativity experience filled with actors, animals, music, bustling marketplace scenes and moments of wonder.

This December, Follow the Star returns for 2026—and once again, everyone is invited to become part of the story.

It’s almost Carnival of Flowers time! We need your support! Who is willing to WALK in the parade this year? We need 50 people to lift God’s name on high on September 19!
You’ll be needed from around 9-1 pm, depending on how big the parade is. Costumes are provided for $10 per person. Just wear jeans and sandshoes.

✨ Follow the Star 2026 – Planning & Volunteer Team Launch ✨

Christian Events Toowoomba is beginning preparations for this year’s Follow the Star, and we are now opening the door for people who would like to be part of the planning and volunteer team development.

Follow the Star is a powerful community Christmas event that brings churches, families, creatives, trades, organisers, hospitality teams, and volunteers together to create something meaningful for our city. As we begin building this year’s team, we would love to connect with people who are passionate about serving, creating, organising, building, welcoming, praying, or simply helping where needed.

Upcoming volunteer areas may include:

⭐ Set design & creative team
⭐ Actors & costume team
AND so many more roles needed!

Whether you can serve regularly, occasionally, behind the scenes, or just want to attend an interest meeting and hear the vision, we would love to connect with you.

We believe this event is bigger than one church or one team. It is about the churches of Toowoomba coming together to serve our city and point people toward Jesus during the Christmas season.

HELP IS ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED PLEASE 🙏

Friday 29 May - we are required to dismantle what’s currently on ‘our’ old float in the shed on Jellicoe St. For those who don’t know, council is decommissioning all of the floats, due to their non compliance with safety requirements. We have to remove our items from ‘our’ float.

The council has requested during working hours because their workplace safety staff need to be present.

CAN YOU DONATE SOME TIME PLEASE

This will be a simple enough job if we get helpers. I’m really praying it’s not just two of us as it will be a big job. Thanks for offering to lend a hand. Even 30 minutes helps.

We need to store the items. Can anyone offer some space to store boxes of carnival items? We also need donations of plastic tubs with lids, to store the flowers. Could anyone provide any please? 🙏
