Preach the Kingdom…
“Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, ‘Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?’ And He said to them, ‘It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.’” - Acts 1:7-8 NKJV
When the disciples asked Jesus when He would free Israel and restore the Kingdom, they were thinking from a natural perspective, not a spiritual one. Jesus responded by saying, “‘It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority.” But He didn’t just stop there. He continued speaking and we need to take note of what He said next because He starts the following sentence with the word ‘but’ indicating He is introducing something to contrast what He previously said.
Jesus never actually said He would restore the Kingdom because the Kingdom never needed restoring. He preached: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17), and did so throughout His entire ministry. Even after He rose from the dead He continued preaching the Kingdom of God (Acts 1:3).
What Jesus was saying to the disciples He has also said to us. He transferred the responsibility of preaching and declaring the Kingdom of Heaven onto us and He has empowered us with His Holy Spirit so we can continue His message until He comes again. So in case you were wondering, “Go and preach the Kingdom.”
Declaration Starter:
“I declare that I am empowered with the Holy Spirit to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven. That is my purpose, that is my calling, and that is my mission…”

It’s going to be a good day…
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.” - Psalms 23:6 NKJV
Psalms 23 is a well-known chapter in the Bible and is often recited by children in their early years of Sunday School, preached about in sermons, and sung about in songs. We often remember the starting phrase, “The Lord is my Shepherd” but I wonder how often we look at this whole chapter and declare it as a promise over our lives rather than just reading it as a poetic Psalm of comfort?
When we read this whole chapter, we see that we do indeed have something amazing to declare over our lives. The Lord is our Shepherd, He is our Provider, our Protector, our Comforter, our Healer, our Deliverer, our Rest and our Strength. He is all that we need and considering all that Father has set in place for us, we can look forward with confidence to today and know that because of our Father, whatever today holds for us, it is going to be a good day.
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.” Wow! What an incredible declaration!
Declaration Starter:
“I declare that today is going to be a good day because, without fail, God's goodness follows me every day of my life…”

My sleep is refreshing…
"In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe." - Psalms 4:8 NLT
God never intended us to be lazy, but He did intend us to sleep. You might think you are being productive by working more and sleeping less, but that isn’t the case. God created sleep for a reason.
It’s important to know that when we sleep, our body is still working very hard. It’s doing things like getting your brain to sort through and processes the information from the day; its flooding your body with hormones; your sympathetic nervous system, which is the part of you that that controls your fight or flight, response gets a chance to relax; your stress hormones decrease; and your immune system releases proteins that if you’re sick or injured, help your body fight inflammation, infection and trauma.
Believe it or not, both rest (a sabbath) and sleep are designed by God for your well being. In addition to being good for you, sleep is also a great opportunity for you to grow your faith. Not only does God care about you, He doesn’t sleep, which means you get to switch off and allow Him to handle things on your behalf.
So, tonight as you lie down in bed say, “Father, I can’t do anything more. There’s no point you and I both being awake, so I’m going to switch off I’m leave all of this in Your hands.” Then roll over, and sleep well. Father has everything in hand.
Declaration Starter:
“I declare that my sleep is both peaceful and refreshing. I will not fear anything. I will trust in His adequate ability to care for me and protect me because I know God is watching over me. I am safe in His hands…”

Let’s do this together…
"Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faints nor does He ever get tired. His understanding is complete and unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint." - Isaiah 40:28-31 NKJV

Have you ever lost sleep over something that has stressed you? You lie awake at night worrying but you can’t do anything about it. Well, read this verse again and let the reality of the words soak into you. God is never asleep on the job. He never says, “That’s it! I’ve had enough! I’m going to bed!” He doesn’t sleep which means He’s always available for you, so let Him be.
When you are worried about something, or when you’re exhausted or weak, run to Him. No one is infallible, no matter what your age. You are human, and you need your Father. Let Him be a part of your every day. He knows everything, He understands everything. He will give you strength and He will empower you, equip you and support you. He has your back.
Run to Him in everything. Why continue trying in your own strength, flapping about frantically, when you can soar with your Father. He would say to you again, “Stop, sit a little while with me. Be still and know that I am God. Now let’s do this together.”
Declaration Starter:
“I declare that God is always there for me. He will never let me down. He is reliable and ever present. When I have nothing left in me, He will lift me up and strengthen me…”

Sweeter than honey…
“How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey. Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way of life. Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. - Psalms 119:103-105 NLT
When we see something with our eyes, we observe the fact of that which is happening at that very moment, but when we taste something, we experience it. Notice that the writer is saying here that God’s words taste sweet. Normally you hear words, not taste them. However if we were to say that something is sweet, we are implying that it is a pleasant experience.
He goes on to say that “Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way of life.” Obviously the words he is referring to that are as sweet as honey are more than something seen and read only once. There has been an experience that has shaped his life in a very powerful way.
Even though that was written many years ago, God’s Word is still very powerful today. Hebrews 4:12 refers to it as ‘alive’. Know that you cannot read God’s Word and not be changed. Let me encourage you to add the Word to your life as often as you are able. Pray before you read it. Ask God to work through His Word and you too will taste its sweetness and experience life in a fresh way each and every day.
Declaration Starter:
“I declare that God’s Word for me is sweeter than honey. I declare that it is my source of wisdom; it is my source of inspiration; it is my source of understanding; it is my source of counsel. I will not be governed by my thinking but rather God’s Word for me. I will apply to my life daily that which I read. God’s Word leads me every day of my life…”

Jesus is Lord…
"That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." - Philippians 2:10-11 NKJV
Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines the word “every” as “Being each individual or part of a group without exception”. If we look at the above verse again we see it goes even further that what we see or experience here on earth. There is nothing that holds any authority over Jesus, not in heaven, not on earth and certainly not under the earth — that covers every conceivable place.
This verse is literally saying that there is no being, no individual and no group that exists in heaven, on earth or even under the earth that has any authority over Jesus Christ, Who by the way is my Saviour; my Redeemer; my Lord; my Deliverer; my Family member; my Healer; my Provider; and everything else I need Him to be that lines up with what the Word of God says He is. EVERY knee shall bow to Him. Sickness, disease, poverty, lack, marriage problems, disunity, threats, family issues, lack of work and so on and so on. Get the picture? Every knee!
I hope that is stirring your faith for a powerful declaration! No matter who you are, no matter what you are going through, know that the Lord Jesus Christ is Lord over that situation. If you can grab hold of that with every fibre of your being, you will come to realise that you don’t ever need to worry, because Jesus IS Lord!
Declaration Starter:
“I declare that Jesus is Lord! There is nothing and no one greater than Him. He incomparably outdoes any other god! No ifs, no ands, no buts, no maybes. Every single knee shall bow to Him, for He is Lord of all…”

God chose me…
"Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure.” - Ephesians 1:4-5 NLT
I love how much this verse highlights that you and I matter to God. We aren’t just a number; we aren’t random, and we definitely aren’t here by chance. God planned your life because He loves you. Repeat this: “I bring my Father great delight.” Read that verse again. “Even before He made the world, God loved us.” (God loved you long before you were born!) It also says, He “chose you in Christ to be holy and without fault in His eyes.”
Revelation 13:8 refers to Jesus as “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” (NKJV). Before He even created the world, God loved you; He knew about sin; He planned to pay the price Himself so that you could not just be in right standing with Him, but adopted into His family; and He planned for you to be holy and without fault in His eyes.
Wow! That’s a lot of planning, for a lot of people, by a God with a lot of love. Read the last part of that verse because it’s a key point. “This is what He wanted to do, and it gave Him great pleasure.” You matter to God. He thinks the world of you.
Declaration Starter:
“I declare that I am valuable to God. He chose me. Before the foundations of the world ever existed, I was on His mind. Because of Jesus Christ, I matter, I am valuable and I am loved…”

I am free…
"If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." - John 8:31-32 NKJV
Did you notice that these verse come with a condition attached? People want freedom, and this verse shows us that freedom comes from knowing the truth, but the condition is that we need to be people who abide in God’s Word in order to know the truth. Instead of ‘abide’, another translation uses the word ‘continue’ which means, ‘to stay (in a given place, state, relation or expectancy)’.
As I read this, I think of Peter walking on the water and Jesus asking, “in what did you doubt” (see April 21). When we are believing God for something, fear will always raise it head and try to make us doubt God and sway its way, but when we doubt something it loses its ability to remain an option.
If we are trying to grow our faith, then staying in the Word of God will continue to reinforce the truth of Who God is. We grow more in our knowledge and understanding of Him, and we then become more ‘disciplined’ (discipled). The more we know of God and His plans and purpose, the stronger we become. Then fear loses its grip and we grow in the truth of Who God is. Then, as we live out that truth, and walk in the authority and dominion He gave us, we then become people who know real freedom in Christ.
Choose today to become a person who spends more time in the Word, and you will learn freedom like you’ve always wanted.
Declaration Starter:
“I declare that I am free because I know the Truth and He is alive in me…”

I am forgiven…"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unright...

I am forgiven…
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" - 1 John 1:9 NKJV
God doesn’t hold grudges. No matter who we are, not matter what we have done, when we confess our sins before Him, He is quick to forgive. Often when we forgive someone, we can still hold onto the memory of what they have previously done, and even though we may not mention it again, the memory still has the potential to affect our ongoing trust of that person. This is not the case with God, and there are two things I want to briefly look at regarding how He forgives us.
Firstly, He no longer accredits those sins to us. Psalms 103:12 says that He separates us from our sins. That means they aren’t just out of reach, but totally gone. In fact, He says they are removed as far as the East is from the West. That’s a long way — a never ending line. East never meets West.
Next, Hebrews 8:12 tells us that He doesn’t even remember our sins. It’s not that He has a bad memory, it’s that He chooses to never remember them again.
Think about how much love that demonstrates. Every time we confess our sins before Him, He removes them from us and chooses to never remember them again. God’s grace is amazing.
Declaration Starter:
“I declare that I am forgiven and cleansed. Every time I confess my sins my Father forgives me. I accept His forgiveness and I walk in the joy of the knowledge that I am His, and that I am in right standing with Him…”

God is good…
"Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever." - Psalms 107:1 NKJV
Each time someone does something nice for you, or gives you a gift, or allows you to go first, or helps you, then you know that the polite thing to do is to say, “Thank you”.
The same should happen in our relationship with God. Giving thanks should be part of our everyday life when it comes to being a Christian because God has done so much for us. In this verse, the writer is directing us to say “Thank You” to the Lord. He isn’t just suggesting we do it to be nice, he is saying we should do it because our Father is good and because His mercy towards us is never ending. For all He has done He deserves to hear our thanks.
Philippians 4:6 is another verse that commands us to give thanks. It says, “In everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.”
Not only has God has done so much for us, He has also promised so much for us. Among other things, He is our Father, He is our Protector, He is our Healer, He is our Provider, He is our Redemption, He is everything we need and more and He wants us to “come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16 NKJV)
Know that you are always welcome to come before God in prayer, but remember, saying thank you doesn’t cost you anything. Giving thanks is a valuable part of our worship because He is a God who is worthy of all the honour and praise we can give Him.
Declaration Starter:
“I declare Lord God that You are good. I give You thanks for all You have done. Your faithful love endures forever…”
