What kind of music is your life making?

Every life leaves something in its wake.

Some leave peace.
Others leave anxiety.
Some leave healing.
Others leave wounds.

In this message we explore an ancient image from St Augustine: the Ten Commandments as a ten-stringed harp. Not rules designed to control us, but a form of spiritual formation that teaches us how to love.

What if holiness is not measured by private religious performance, but by whether the people around us become more whole because of our presence?

What if the commandments are less about control and more about learning the melody of heaven?

“My holiness is measured by their wholeness.”

What if “the fear of the Lord” is not about terror… but freedom?

What if it’s not an oppressive or psychologically unhealthy relic of ancient religion, but the very thing that frees us from fear, anxiety, approval-seeking, and shallow Christianity?

This week at Hinterland Chapel we explored one of the most misunderstood themes in scripture: The Fear of the Lord.

A message about reverence, holiness, courage, freedom, and learning to live liberated from the fear of man.

“The fear of the Lord is the holy awe that frees us from all other fears.”

*What does a mother hen have to do with a city?*

Throughout scripture, God is revealed not only in strength and power, but also in tenderness, compassion, nurturing, and fierce love. Many of the qualities we associate with the very best of motherhood find their source in the heart of God.

This Sunday Ken will guide us through some of the surprising maternal imagery woven throughout scripture, what it reveals about the character of God, and how it shapes the way we live as God’s people.

We’ll also reflect on two common distortions this vision of God helps protect us from.

*10am start.*

Everyone is welcome.
Everyone can belong.

New Start Time This Sunday — 10am

We’re starting earlier this week, with church kicking off at 10am sharp.

Come a few minutes early—tea and coffee will be ready.

And this week, morning tea is after the service.

More time to slow down, connect, and share life together.

So don’t rush off.
Stay a while. Meet someone new.

Church isn’t just something we attend.
It’s a people we belong to.

This Sunday, we’re exploring the powerful moment in Acts where everything changed—the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the early church. A community marked by bold faith, radical generosity and genuine fellowship.

But is that kind of life still possible today?

Join us as we reflect on how the Holy Spirit transformed ordinary people—and how we still need and have access to that same power, perspective, and presence in our lives and in the church today.

What does it actually mean to live… alive?

This message explores how resurrection life
begins in the hidden place,
reorders everything,
and then sends us into the world.

“Resurrection is not just something to believe in… it is something to enter”.

If that resonates with you, this might be worth watching.

You can believe in the resurrection…
and still feel like you’re just going through the motions.

So what’s missing?

This Sunday we’re asking a real question:
*How do you actually live… alive?*

Not with hype.
Not through performance.

But by stepping into the real, grounded, transforming life that Jesus offers.

We’ll also be baptising people as they step into that new life.

Wherever you are—curious, searching, or ready to take a next step—
you’re invited into the journey.

LEARNING TO LIVE ALIVE
From the Hidden Place to a New Life.

As a volunteer-led church community, we take a short sabbatical break during the middle weekend of the school holidays.

This Sunday 12th of April there will be no church gathering, but we encourage you to use the time to slow down and rest in God’s creation. Enjoy the natural beauty of our region, reach out to someone in our community, and perhaps share a meal or a coffee together.

Remember, sabbatical isn’t about stepping away from faith—it’s an opportunity to lean in more deeply and make space for God in the rhythms of everyday life.

We are really looking forward to gathering again in the chapel on Sunday, 19 April.

Grace and peace 🙏
