Alhamdulillah, our weekly Majlis Ta‘lim in Bahasa Indonesia continues every Friday at MaNAWA Centre.

📖 Two classical works of Islamic spirituality:

🌱 Bidayatul Hidayah (The Beginning of Guidance) by Imam al-Ghazali رحمه الله — guiding us towards sincerity, discipline, good character and the practical application of sacred knowledge.

🌹 Kitab al-Hikam (Book of Wisdoms) by Imam al-Haddad رحمه الله — nurturing the heart through wisdom, self-reflection and a deeper connection with Allah ﷻ.

These gatherings remind us that the purpose of seeking knowledge is not merely to know, but to transform our hearts, refine our character and draw closer to Allah.

🌙 Thursday Night Dhikr | MaNAWA Centre

Alhamdulillah, another blessed evening of remembrance, reflection and seeking sacred knowledge.

We began with Salat al-Ghaib for the departed family member of one of our community members, followed by Tahlil and dua. A reminder of the fleeting nature of this world and our inevitable return to Allah ﷻ.

🌹 We then recited Maulid al-Dibā‘ī, reflecting upon the beautiful Seerah of Rasulullah ﷺ and renewing our love and connection to him.

📖 Our study of Kitab al-Adhkar by Imam al-Nawawi رحمه الله explored the Sunnah of reciting aloud (Jahr) and quietly (Israr) during Salah, as well as the recommended pauses of the Imam.

A beautiful reminder that following the Sunnah extends even to the smallest details of our worship. What may seem like simple acts carry generations of knowledge, care and devotion in preserving the Prophetic tradition.

May Allah ﷻ grant us hearts that remember Him, tongues that praise Him, and lives that reflect the beautiful Sunnah of His beloved Messenger ﷺ.

🌿 Celebrating ʿAqīqah with the remembrance of Rasulullah ﷺ

Alhamdulillah, a beautiful way of welcoming a new child into this world is through the Sunnah of Aqiqah; an occasion of gratitude to Allah ﷻ for the blessing of new life, accompanied by dua’, charity, feeding others and remembrance of Him.

Among the Sunnahs associated with the seventh day are the aqiqah, giving the child a good name, and shaving the child’s head. Sayyiduna Samurah ibn Jundub رضي الله عنه narrated that Rasulullah ﷺ said:

كُلُّ غُلَامٍ رَهِينَةٌ بِعَقِيقَتِهِ تُذْبَحُ عَنْهُ يَوْمَ سَابِعِهِ وَيُحْلَقُ وَيُسَمَّى

“Every child is in pledge for his ʿaqīqah. It is slaughtered for him on the seventh day, his head is shaved, and he is given a name.”
— Sunan Abi Dawud 2838

On this blessed occasion, we also gathered for the recitation of the Mawlid and the Seerah of our beloved Rasulullah ﷺ. What better way to celebrate the arrival of a child than by filling the gathering with salawat and reminding ourselves and our children of the life and beautiful character of the one whom Allah sent as a mercy to all creation ﷺ.

Among the beautiful verses recited:

صَلَاةُ اللهِ مَا لَاحَتْ كَوَاكِبُ
عَلَى أَحْمَدَ خَيْرِ مَنْ رَكِبَ النَّجَائِبِ

May the blessings of Allah, for as long as the stars continue to shine, be upon Ahmad ﷺ, the best of those who ever rode.

نَبِيُّ اللهِ خَيْرُ الْخَلْقِ جَمْعًا
لَهُ أَعْلَى الْمَنَاصِبِ وَالْمَرَاتِبِ

The Prophet of Allah ﷺ is the best of all creation, possessing the highest stations and ranks.

May Allah ﷻ bless this child, make them among the righteous, a coolness to the eyes of their parents, and raise them upon iman, Qur’an, Sunnah and love for Rasulullah ﷺ.

May our homes always remain alive with his Seerah, our tongues moist with salawat upon him, and may our children grow up knowing him, loving him and following his beautiful example.

📖 From last night’s Kitab al-Adhkar class at our Weekly Majlis Dhikr

We continued our reading from Kitab al-Adhkar of Imam al-Nawawi رحمه الله, looking at the Sunnah of Qur’anic recitation in the different prayers.

We first discussed the divisions of al-Mufassal (المفصل) according to length:

📗 طِوَالُ الْمُفَصَّل — Long: al-Hujurat → al-Buruj
📘 أَوْسَاطُ الْمُفَصَّل — Medium: al-Tariq → al-Bayyinah
📙 قِصَارُ الْمُفَصَّل — Short: al-Zalzalah → al-Nas

There is some scholarly difference regarding the precise boundaries of these divisions.

Imam an-Nawawi mentions:

🌿 Fajr and Zuhr: It is Sunnah for the recitation generally to be from Tiwal al-Mufassal (طوال المفصل) — the longer surahs of al-Mufassal.

🌿 ‘Asr and ‘Isha: Generally from Awsat al-Mufassal (أوساط المفصل) — the medium-length surahs.

🌿 Maghrib: Generally from Qisar al-Mufassal (قصار المفصل) — the shorter surahs, although the Prophet ﷺ also recited longer surahs on occasions.

🌿 Friday Fajr: It is Sunnah to recite Surah al-Sajdah in the first rak‘ah and Surah al-Insan in the second, reciting both in full rather than restricting oneself to selected verses.

🌿 Eid prayer: After al-Fatihah, from the Sunnah is to recite Surah Qaf and Surah al-Qamar, or alternatively Surah al-A‘la and Surah al-Ghashiyah.

🌿 Jumu‘ah prayer: From the Sunnah is Surah al-Jumu‘ah followed by Surah al-Munafiqun, or Surah al-A‘la followed by Surah al-Ghashiyah.

An important principle mentioned is that the Imam should also be mindful of those praying behind him. While following the Sunnah in recitation, he should avoid causing undue hardship through excessive length.

These details remind us of the richness of the Prophetic Sunnah within our daily Salah, helping us worship with greater knowledge and conscious following of the Prophet ﷺ.

May Allah grant us beneficial knowledge and enable us to revive the Sunnah of His Beloved ﷺ.

Alhamdulillah, another beautiful evening at our Weekly Majlis Dhikr at MaNAWA Centre.

Our evening was filled with the recitation of Ratib al-Attas and Maulid al-Diba‘i, remembering Allah ﷻ and sending salawat upon our beloved Prophet ﷺ.

May Allah accept our gathering, fill our hearts with His remembrance and increase us in love for Rasulullah ﷺ.

Jazakumullahu khayran to everyone who joined us. We look forward to welcoming you again next week, inshaAllah. 🤍

Alhamdulillah 🤲

Yesterday, some of us had the opportunity to take part in feeding the homeless in Fremantle. It was truly an eye-opening and humbling experience.

It reminded us to be grateful for the simple ni‘mah (blessings) of Allah ﷻ that we often take for granted — having food on our table, a safe place to sleep, and a roof over our heads.

Verily, the words of our beloved Rasulullah ﷺ are true:

“Look at those who are beneath you and do not look at those who are above you, for it is more suitable that you should not consider as insignificant the blessing of Allah.”
(Sahih Muslim)

This experience reminded us that serving others is one of the means of recognising and appreciating the blessings that Allah ﷻ has already given us.

We would like to extend our appreciation to Bro Muhammad Patel and all the other brothers and sisters for welcoming us and allowing us to be part of this initiative. MashaAllah, they have been serving and feeding the homeless every week for the past 10 years. May Allah ﷻ reward them abundantly, accept their efforts, and place barakah in their work.

May Allah ﷻ allow us to continue serving His creation, soften our hearts, increase us in gratitude, and make us a means of goodness for others.

Alhamdulillah, a beautiful way to conclude another term at MaNAWA Madrasah. 🌿

After completing their term examinations, our students gathered today for the recitation of the Maulid of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Beyond lessons, books and examinations, we hope to nurture in our children a deep love for Rasulullah ﷺ — to know him, love him, follow his Sunnah, and beautify themselves with his noble akhlaq.

May Allah ﷻ plant the love of His Beloved ﷺ firmly in the hearts of our children and allow them to grow upon faith, knowledge, good character and service to the Ummah.

MashaAllah, what an amazing turnout at our Bunnings Sausage Sizzle today! 🌭❤️

We were so happy to see such a big crowd coming through and supporting us throughout the day.
