Last night, we gathered at the MaNAWA Centre for a beautiful Majlis Khatam & Wada’ Ramadan, concluding the blessed month together with Qur’an, du‘a, and remembrance.
As the final verses of the Qur’an were recited in Taraweeh, hearts were filled with gratitude for having witnessed another Ramadan, and with hope that Allah accepts our fasting, prayers, and deeds.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
مَنْ قَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ
“Whoever stands in prayer during Ramadan with faith and seeking reward will have his past sins forgiven.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)
It is reported that blessings descend and supplications are accepted at the completion of the Qur’an. This was the practice of our pious Salaf. Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه) would gather his family during the Khatam of the Quran.
كَانَ أَنَسٌ إِذَا خَتَمَ الْقُرْآنَ، جَمَعَ وَلَدَهُ وَأَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ فَدَعَا لَهُمْ
“When Anas completed the Qur’an, he would gather his children and family and supplicate for them.”
Narrated by al-Dārimī (3517)
It is also narrated from the practice of the Salaf that when ʿAbdullah ibn al-Mubarak completed the Qur’an, he would increase in supplication for the Muslims.
(Al-Tibyān fī Ādāb Ḥamalat al-Qur’an, p.160)
Our programme included Isha’, Taraweeh, Du‘a Khatam al-Qur’an and Birr al Walidayn, Qasaid, and Munajat, as we collectively bid farewell to Ramadan while continuing to seek the blessings of Laylatul Qadr in its final nights.
May Allah accept from everyone who attended, those who recited, those who listened, and all who served in making this gathering possible.
اللهم تقبل منا إنك أنت السميع العليم
وتب علينا إنك أنت التواب الرحيم
May Allah allow us to witness many more Ramadans in His obedience and gather us always upon the remembrance of Him and His beloved Prophet ﷺ.
