Rabi‘ al-Awwal Thursday Night Gathering 🌿

Alhamdulillah, another blessed evening was spent remembering Allah and His Beloved Messenger ﷺ during this noble month of Rabi‘ al-Awwal.

The evening began with the recitation of the Seerah of Rasulullah ﷺ, followed by reflections from al-Shama’il al-Muhammadiyyah of Imam al-Tirmidhi and learning about the noble appearance, characteristics and signs of our beloved Prophet ﷺ.

Sayyiduna Jabir ibn Samurah رضي الله عنه narrated:

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فِي لَيْلَةٍ إِضْحِيَانٍ، وَعَلَيْهِ حُلَّةٌ حَمْرَاءُ، فَجَعَلْتُ أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ وَإِلَى الْقَمَرِ، فَلَهُوَ عِنْدِي أَحْسَنُ مِنَ الْقَمَرِ

“I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a clear moonlit night, wearing a red garment. I looked at him and then at the moon, and to me, he was more beautiful than the moon.”

Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Abbas رضي الله عنهما also described:

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَفْلَجَ الثَّنِيَّتَيْنِ، إِذَا تَكَلَّمَ رُئِيَ كَالنُّورِ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ بَيْنِ ثَنَايَاهُ

“When he spoke, it appeared as though light emanated from between his blessed teeth.”

We also reflected upon the Seal of Prophethood — خاتم النبوة and the remarkable journey of Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi رضي الله عنه. When Salman first presented dates as charity, Rasulullah ﷺ declined, saying, “We do not eat from charity.” The following day Salman returned with them as a gift, which the Prophet ﷺ accepted and shared with his Companions.

Salman رضي الله عنه then saw the Seal of Prophethood upon his blessed back. Having witnessed the signs he had been searching for, he recognised Rasulullah ﷺ and believed in him.

The Shama’il allows us to know Rasulullah ﷺ more deeply; how he looked, spoke and carried himself, and the signs Allah placed upon him. The more we know him ﷺ, the more our hearts grow in love, longing and commitment to following his Sunnah.

May Allah increase us in ma‘rifah, mahabbah and ittiba‘ of His Beloved ﷺ and gather us in his blessed company in the Hereafter.

Alhamdulillah, we gathered for our Rabiʿ al-Awwal Thursday Night Dhikr, beginning with the recitation of the Seerah of the blessed birth of Rasulullah ﷺ The Shimmering Light, followed by reflections upon his noble features through al-Shamāʾil al-Muhammadiyah of Imam al-Tirmidhi.

Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه described him ﷺ:

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْسَ بِالطَّوِيلِ الْبَائِنِ، وَلَا بِالْقَصِيرِ… وَلَا بِالْجَعْدِ الْقَطَطِ، وَلَا بِالسَّبْطِ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was neither strikingly tall nor short; his hair was neither tightly curled nor completely straight.”

Sayyiduna al-Bara’ ibn ʿAzib رضي الله عنه remembered him ﷺ:

مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْ ذِي لِمَّةٍ فِي حُلَّةٍ حَمْرَاءَ أَحْسَنَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

“I never saw anyone with hair reaching his shoulders, wearing a red garment, more beautiful than the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”

Sayyiduna Jabir ibn Samurah رضي الله عنه looked upon him on a clear moonlit night and said:

فَجَعَلْتُ أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ وَإِلَى الْقَمَرِ، فَلَهُوَ عِنْدِي أَحْسَنُ مِنَ الْقَمَرِ

“I looked at him and at the moon, and to me, he was more beautiful than the moon.”

And when Abu al-Tufayl رضي الله عنه—one of the last Companions to have seen Rasulullah ﷺ—was asked to describe him, he simply said:

كَانَ أَبْيَضَ، مَلِيحًا، مُقَصَّدًا

“He was fair in complexion, beautiful, and well-proportioned.”

These were not descriptions recorded merely as details of history. They were the memories of those whose eyes had rested upon the Beloved ﷺ, preserved so that generations who never saw him could still come to know him.

In Rabiʿ al-Awwal, we remember his blessed birth, we read his Seerah, and through the Shamāʾil we draw nearer to the person of Rasulullah ﷺ so that knowing him may lead us to loving him, and loving him may lead us to following him.

اللهم ارزقنا حبه ﷺ، والشوق إليه، واتباع سنته، واجمعنا به في الفردوس الأعلى.

📚 MaNAWA Essentials of Islam Series

Alhamdulillah, our Essentials of Islam course is underway at the MaNAWA Centre — a structured journey through the foundations of our Deen, centred around the profound Hadith of Jibril عليه السلام.

In this famous hadith, Jibril عليه السلام came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked him about Islam, Iman and Ihsan. After Jibril departed, the Prophet ﷺ said:

فَإِنَّهُ جِبْرِيلُ أَتَاكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ دِينَكُمْ

“Indeed, that was Jibril. He came to you to teach you your religion.”
— Sahih Muslim

It is upon these three dimensions of the Deen that our course is structured:

الإسلام • الإيمان • الإحسان
Islam • Iman • Ihsan

🕌 Fiqh | Islam — learning how to worship Allah correctly and understanding the essential rulings of our religious practice.

🌿 ʿAqidah | Iman — strengthening our understanding of what we believe and developing certainty in faith.

🤍 Tazkiyah | Ihsan — purifying the heart, refining our character and learning to worship Allah with greater sincerity and awareness.

Just as the Hadith of Jibril gathers the foundations of the religion into Islam, Iman and Ihsan, the MaNAWA Essentials of Islam Series seeks to provide students with a balanced foundation across these three essential dimensions of our Deen.

May Allah bless our teachers and students, grant us beneficial knowledge and sincere action, and make these gatherings a means of preserving and transmitting the Deen to generations to come.

اللهم علمنا ما ينفعنا وانفعنا بما علمتنا وزدنا علما

O Allah, teach us that which benefits us, benefit us through what You have taught us, and increase us in knowledge.

Thursday Night Dhikr & Dars | MaNAWA Centre 🌙

There is a special blessing found in gatherings where Allah is remembered. While we gather on earth, the angels gather around us, carrying news of these circles to the heavens.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

«إِنَّ لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى مَلَائِكَةً يَطُوفُونَ فِي الطُّرُقِ يَلْتَمِسُونَ أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ، فَإِذَا وَجَدُوا قَوْمًا يَذْكُرُونَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، تَنَادَوْا: هَلُمُّوا إِلَى حَاجَتِكُمْ، فَيَحُفُّونَهُمْ بِأَجْنِحَتِهِمْ… فَيَقُولُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: أُشْهِدُكُمْ أَنِّي قَدْ غَفَرْتُ لَهُمْ… هُمُ الْجُلَسَاءُ لَا يَشْقَى بِهِمْ جَلِيسُهُمْ.»
(متفق عليه)

“Indeed, Allah has angels who roam the roads seeking the people of remembrance. When they find a people remembering Allah, they call to one another, ‘Come to what you are seeking,’ and surround them with their wings… Then Allah says: ‘Bear witness that I have forgiven them.’ …They are such a people that whoever sits with them will never be deprived.”
(Bukhari & Muslim)

Alhamdulillah, we gathered once again for our weekly Thursday night program, beginning with the blessed Ratib al-Attas, followed by salawat upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, before continuing our reading and reflection from Kitab al-Adhkar of Imam al-Nawawi رحمه الله.

We were also honoured to welcome our dear brother Sidi Adam Mubarak from Melbourne. We first benefited from his companionship during the visits of the Habaib to Perth, and it was a blessing to once again share in the company of remembrance together. Truly, righteous companionship is among the greatest gifts Allah grants His servants.

We ask Allah to preserve these bonds and unite us through His love:

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُتَحَابِّينَ فِيكَ، وَالْمُتَزَاوِرِينَ فِيكَ، وَالْمُتَجَالِسِينَ فِيكَ.

“O Allah, make us among those who love one another for Your sake, visit one another for Your sake, and sit together for Your sake.”

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنَا مِنَ الذَّاكِرِينَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَالذَّاكِرَاتِ، وَتَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا، وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا، وَاجْمَعْنَا دَائِمًا عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَطَاعَتِكَ وَمَحَبَّةِ نَبِيِّكَ ﷺ. آمين.

Fiqh al-Taḥawwulāt is the study of the major transformations affecting the Ummah through the lens of revelation and the scholarly understanding of the Signs of the Last Hour. It provides a balanced framework to understand contemporary realities with knowledge, wisdom, and certainty.

• The foundations of Fiqh al-Taḥawwulāt.
• The Qur’anic and Prophetic approach to times of fitnah.

• How to distinguish sound knowledge from conjecture and misinformation.

Lecturer at Dār al-Ghurabā’, Tarim, Hadhramaut, founded by the Mufakkir Islāmī, Al-Ḥabīb Abū Bakar al-’Adnī al-Mashhūr رحمه الله. He studied Fiqh al-Taḥawwulāt directly under Al-Ḥabīb Abū Bakar al-’Adnī al-Mashhūr and has taught this discipline in Yemen and internationally.

Thursday Nights at MaNAWA 🌙

There is a unique tranquillity in gathering for the remembrance of Allah. Hearts soften, minds become settled, and souls are reminded of their true purpose.

Our Thursday evenings begin with the blessed Ratib al-Attas, followed by salawat upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, before reflecting on Kitab al-Adhkar of Imam al-Nawawī رحمه الله.

This week, we commenced Kitab al-Salah (The Book of Prayer), beginning with the chapter on Takbirat al-Ihram—the opening declaration that marks our entrance into the prayer.

Among the lessons discussed:
• Takbirat al-Ihram is an essential pillar of the prayer.
• The Sunnah is to pronounce “Allahu Akbar” clearly enough to hear oneself.
• The wording should be preserved exactly as taught by the Prophet ﷺ, reflecting the care our scholars have taken in preserving the Sunnah.
• The opening takbir is more than words—it is the moment we leave the distractions of this world and stand before Allah.

The evening concludes with another beautiful Sunnah—sharing a simple meal together. Over pizza, conversations continue, friendships deepen, and the bonds of brotherhood grow.

﴿أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ﴾
“Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” (Qur’an 13:28)
