🌸 Welcoming Spring at Nan Tien

As spring arrives, nature reminds us that everything is constantly changing.

In Buddhism, impermanence (anicca) teaches us that nothing remains the same forever. Just as winter gives way to new growth, we too can embrace change, let go of what no longer serves us, and make space for new beginnings.

Take a moment this spring to pause, breathe and notice the beauty unfolding around you.

May this season bring you renewed energy, clarity and a fresh perspective.

📚✨ BOOK WEEK 2026 | The Diamond Sutra

Did you know one of the world’s earliest surviving complete printed books is a Buddhist scripture?

The Diamond Sutra, dated 11 May 868 CE, is the earliest surviving dated, complete printed book. It was produced in China using woodblock printing, with text carved into wooden blocks and printed onto paper, then assembled into a 5-metre-long scroll.

📜 Where was it discovered?
The scroll was found in Mogao Cave 17, known as the “Library Cave”, near Dunhuang in northwestern China, alongside thousands of other ancient manuscripts and documents.

💎 What is the Diamond Sutra?
A foundational Mahayana Buddhist text, it explores wisdom, perception and the nature of reality through a dialogue between the Buddha and his disciple Subhuti.

More than 1,100 years later, it remains a remarkable example of how Buddhist teachings were preserved and shared across generations.

🙏 Mindfulness in Action | Children's School Outreach 💐

📚 When storytime fills the classroom with a gentle voice, little hearts quiet down too...

✨ Our school outreach journey for the children's mindfulness picture book, Seeking Treasure with Bodhi, recently stopped at Mount Pritchard East Public School!

🎈 Led by author Karen Hendriks, the kids learned how to take deep breaths, tune into their minds, and try simple mindfulness practices. Watching them listen with total focus and open hearts completely melted everyone in the room!

💛 A wonderful journey filled with laughter and calm—seeing children learn to anchor their minds through stories and play, and harvest pure joy, is our greatest reward.

🏫 The Children's Wellbeing & Mindfulness Program is ongoing. Stay tuned for more!

The transformative power of mindfulness in the classroom…

Nan Tien Temple recently visited Bomaderry Public School as part of our Children’s Wellbeing & Mindfulness Program, bringing mindfulness, storytelling and movement into the classroom.

The students shared what they loved most about the visit, from dancing with Bodhi to learning how three deep breaths can help them relax when they feel angry.

Through meditation, movement, connection and play, children are discovering simple tools they can use to support their wellbeing, build focus and navigate big emotions.

And what better way to finish than with a joyful “WE MADE IT!” 🙌✨

The program was co-presented by Shellharbour author Karen Hendriks and Venerable Zhili.

Thank you, Bomaderry Public School, for welcoming us and sharing in this special experience.
