Day 3: The Grace of Giving
Text: 2 Corinthians 9:6–8; Proverbs 3:9–10
Topic: Giving as an Act of Worship
Background
Throughout Scripture, giving is presented as an act of worship rather than merely a financial obligation. God Himself is the greatest giver, demonstrated by His gift of His Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16).
In the Old Testament, God's people honoured Him by bringing the firstfruits of their harvest as an expression of gratitude and dependence on Him.
In the New Testament, believers are encouraged to give willingly, generously, and cheerfully, trusting that God is able to supply all their needs.
As we prepare for Harvest Thanksgiving, we are reminded that our offerings are not simply gifts to the church but expressions of thanksgiving to God for His faithfulness throughout the year.
Reflection
The Apostle Paul teaches that giving reflects the condition of our hearts. Those who sow sparingly will reap sparingly, but those who sow generously will also reap generously (2 Corinthians 9:6). God's concern is not only the amount we give but the attitude with which we give. He delights in cheerful givers who give out of love rather than obligation.
Proverbs 3:9–10 reminds us to honour the Lord with our wealth and the firstfruits of all our increase. When we acknowledge God first in our giving, we declare that He is our Provider and that everything we possess belongs to Him.
Harvest Thanksgiving provides an opportunity to express our gratitude for God's abundant blessings. Our giving becomes an act of worship that acknowledges His goodness, faithfulness, and generosity toward us.
As faithful stewards, we are called to give willingly, joyfully, and sacrificially, trusting that God will continue to provide according to His riches.
True generosity also breaks the grip of greed and selfishness. Every generous gift demonstrates that Christ reigns in our hearts more than material possessions.

Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for being the source of every good and perfect gift. Teach us to worship You through generous and joyful giving. Remove every spirit of greed and selfishness from our hearts, and fill us with gratitude for all You have done for us. As we prepare for Harvest Thanksgiving, help us to honour You with our resources and to give willingly for the advancement of Your Kingdom. May our giving bring glory to Your name and be a blessing to others. In Jesus' name,
