𝐄𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟐:𝟒-𝟗
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

None of us was worthy to be saved. There is nothing that we could use to pay for our debt. Only Him, Jesus could save us, paying the debt that we were supposed to have paid ourselves. Because of His love towards us, He decided to pay it because we had no capacity to.

𝙂𝙍𝘼𝘾𝙀 is an 𝙪𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 favor, something that we didn't deserve. So we were not supposed to be saved because of the weight of our sin, but Jesus Christ had mercy upon us, and saved us through 𝙛𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙝.

𝙁𝘼𝙄𝙏𝙃 being the ability to act according to God's word, when we heard the word of the Lord's 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, we believed and did what was supposed to be done and then we were saved. Remember, faith comes by hearing the word of God (𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟏𝟎:𝟏𝟕). We 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙙, we believed and got 𝙗𝙤𝙧𝙣 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣, then we were 𝙨𝙖𝙫𝙚𝙙.

It is Jesus who died in our place and went further to find us (𝙃𝙚 𝙗𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙪𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙂𝙍𝘼𝘾𝙀), He is the one again who spoke to us and made us to believe (𝙃𝙚 𝙜𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙪𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝘼𝙄𝙏𝙃). As we can see, none of our efforts worked so we should not see ourselves as superior than others but rather be vessels of God to bring more people to Christ.

𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳. 𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘎𝘰𝘥'𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦. 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴 𝘏𝘪𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘏𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩, 𝘴𝘰 𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘦. 𝘙𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦.

Ephesians 1 : 4-8
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

God is pleased to see His people living happily with all material things a man can want on this earth, but He is pleased more when He sees a holy person. In fact, an unholy rich person, will soon or later face the wrath of the Lord. Many examples of such situations are there in the bible. Of course we ourselves cannot be holy, but He makes us holy through grace. God commands us to be holy as He is holy (𝟏 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟏:𝟏𝟔)
If we get back to the book of Genesis, where everything was just beginning, there was also the beginning of sin. When sin entered into man, God was displeased and disappointed. God was also displeased seeing His beloved people wearing leaves and He made them clothes from animal skin. This means He liked His people to have a good living, but making them clothes didn't please Him enough, that is why He continued to chase them out of the garden of eden. Adam and his family continued to live well, outside the garden, but God was still looking for His righteousness in mankind.

In our today's scripture, we see that God chose us to be holy and blameless before the creation of the world. That is what He wanted His people to be. When we lost the way, He again adopted us as His children through Jesus Christ. The bible says He did that because it pleased Him, for the praise of His glorious grace, for the praise of His name. That is why He forgave us without ourselves paying anything, so that we can be holy again just like in His initial plan. Jesus Christ redeemed us with His blood so that we can be seen as holy, just as if we had not sinned. He paid the debt on our behalf, so that we can be holy again.

Let us maintain the holiness Jesus Christ gave to us through His grace. The only thing that pleases God more is His holiness. For it is impossible to please God without faith. Faith being 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙂𝙤𝙙'𝙨 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙙. Only a righteous person can do just as what God says.

The focus must not be on material things, but on Him who gives the material things and His holiness. Seek ye the kingdom of God first, and His righteousness, and all other things shall be given to thee (𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭 𝟔:𝟑𝟑). Check yourself, what are you focused on? It is very possible to be focused on the wrong thing unaware. Not all the people who were following Jesus were focused on Him, some followed Him because they wanted the bread that He multiplied and gave them (𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝟔:𝟐𝟔). When He told them the true word of salvation, they ran away. What Jesus wanted from them is not only for them to have full stomachs, but He wanted them to repent and be born again, He wanted them to be holy.

𝘐𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘩, 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘵. 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘩. 𝘐𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦/𝘩𝘢𝘥? God blessed each and everyone of us with spiritual blessings before we were even born, the bible says before even the creation of the world when He chose us to be holy and blameless in Him. 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥, they are intangible, not those you can see with physical eyes.

When we fell short of His glory, He redeemed us through His blood, to be adopted to become children of God again by the forgiveness of our sins, so that we also enjoy these spiritual blessings.

These spiritual blesssings are a gift that not even one can find easily but only through the grace of the Lord by accepting Jesus Christ as your saviour and let His blood wash you. They bring joy and peace no man can measure, better than all the riches of the earth.

2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

Not only prayers prove or make one a christian, but love. Nomatter how you pray or spend time in prayer but without love, you are not of God. Learn to do good to everyone, irrespective of status and/or background. Sometimes you will not know whom you are doing good or bad to, but definitely at the end we are all going to receive a reward accordingly, for our actions towards others.

When you do good to someone you are doing good to yourself. When you do bad to someone you are doing bad to yourself. All things we do to others we are indirectly doing so to God and Jesus shall charge us against that. Jesus says, "at the end, I will reject some in heaven saying you rejected me first. You will say I have not rejected you, when did I reject you. I will say, that poor man who came to your house, whom you threw out of your house like a dog, was me." Jesus was teaching us to love everyone irrespective of how and what they look like.

In this festive season, as we will be enjoying with family and friends, remembering the day our Lord and savior Jesus Christ was born. Do not forget the perfect reason why He was born, that is, to die for our sins and surely He did. Because of Him, we are all the blessed children of our Father in heaven because we believed in His son. If you have not believed yet, it is not too late to come to Jesus, His arms are always wide open to receive you as His child.

Let me take this opportunity to advise you to be careful in this season. Remember, the fact that He saved us through His grace does not mean we must be reckless with our lives. This is the very time the devil will also be at work, taking advantage of the time, so please do not get carried away.

Let me take this opportunity also to thank all our valued partners, those who partner with us to make sure that the gospel keeps on going.
