🌟 Big Victory for St. Gabriel MCA at the Diocesan Congress! 🌟
​From August 7th to 9th, 2026, the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) gatherers made their way to St. Kilian’s in the Mutasa Deanery for an unforgettable Diocesan Congress! Bringing together over 850 energetic children and animators, this was hailed as the most successful and well-attended MCA congress in the entire diocese!
​🏆 Proudly Representing Nyanga Deanery
​As the sole parish representing the Nyanga Deanery, St. Gabriel stood tall among 23 participating parishes! Our young ones gave it their all and brought home fantastic results:

​A Bright Future: MCA Spiritual Director Fr. Kuonza commended the overwhelming turnout, thanking animators and guardians for their dedication and declaring that "the future of the Church is bright!"
​Outstanding Leadership: MCA Coordinator Sr. Nyasha Dzawanda and her executive team did an extraordinary job executing a fair, seamless event despite the tight budget and unexpectedly huge crowd.

A Journey of Faith, Prayer, and Renewal

​From 17 to 19 July, the Mount Carmel Guild gathered at St Gabriel for a sacred retreat dedicated to deep reflection and prayer. The serene environment of St Gabriel offered a peaceful sanctuary, allowing everyone to step back from their daily routines and open their hearts to hear God’s word—living out the retreat's theme, "Mudzimai anonzwa izwi" (Luke 1:38).

​Unfolding Events

​Spiritual Guidance: The retreat was guided by Father Dzoma, whose inspiring talks, holy mass celebrations, and quiet prayer sessions encouraged every participant to reflect deeply on walking in faith like Mary (SaMaria).

​Shared Fellowship with Moyo Musande: The retreat was enriched by the presence of members from Moyo Musande (Sacred Heart of Jesus), who joined Mount Carmel for this powerful time of reflection and spiritual devotion.

​A Celebration of Reception: A joyful highlight during the retreat was the official reception of four new members into the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Moyo Musande) Guild, marking their successful entry into the first stage of their guild journey.

​Prayer & Reflection: Days were filled with shared rosaries, silent meditation, and fellowship between the two guilds, creating an atmosphere of deep unity and spiritual growth.

​The retreat concluded on July 19th with Father Dzoma's final blessing, leaving both the newly received Sacred Heart of Jesus members and the Mount Carmel Guild refreshed in spirit and strengthened in prayer.

A Brotherhood of Faith and Special Guests
​The spirit of unity and mature leadership was on full display, spearheaded by Father Nyatondo, the Priest-in-Charge of St. Gabriel. With great warmth and priestly maturity, he welcomed his brothers in Christ—Father Kuonza and Father Munjokodi from St. Peter’s Checheche—solidifying the deep bond shared among the clergy.
​The celebration was further blessed by the presence of Brother Chikata, Mother Gertrude, and Sister Tariro of the Divine Child, all adding to the day's spiritual dignity.
​Joyful Rhythms and Seamless Leadership
​The liturgy was elevated to heavenly heights by the Saint Michael’s section, who led the Mass with incredibly beautiful dances and joyful singing that kept hearts lifted.
​Ensuring the entire program ran flawlessly from start to finish were the exceptional Masters of Ceremonies, Father Kuonza and the Parish Chairperson, Mr. Muwi. Together, they "drove the bus" with perfect grace, humor, and precision, keeping the energy vibrant until the very end.
​An Outpouring of Love and Generosity
​To crown the milestone, a spectacular outpouring of love and appreciation followed. Parishioners showed their unwavering support as gifts poured in from all corners, led by the St. Gabriel Men’s Fraternity. All guilds, sections, families, friends, young adults, and the youth proudly stepped forward to present their tokens of gratitude to Father Dzoma, capping off an unforgettable anniversary.
​Looking Forward with Unity
​As the day drew to a close, a thoughtful vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Fore of St. Pius Sedze, which was notably well-represented. While expressing immense gratitude to everyone who made the day a success, Mr. Fore also issued a passionate charge to the parish. He challenged the community to actively reach out and support outstations that are currently missing out on parish events, specifically mentioning St. Thomas Manjoro and St. Peter’s Nyarumvurwe, urging a future of complete and inclusive

A Celebration of Grace and Vigilance: Father Dzoma Marks 12 Years of Priesthood
​It was a day filled with joy, deep spiritual reflection, and vibrant celebration as the St. Gabriel Parish community gathered to honor Father Dzoma’s 12th anniversary in the priesthood. The milestone was a beautiful testament to faith, resilience, and unwavering dedication to the shepherd’s call.
​A Homily of Wisdom: Informed Decisions and Spiritual Vigilance
​The Holy Mass was gracefully led by Father Musendeki, the Dean of Mvuma Deanery from the Gweru Diocese, who delivered a powerful and thought-provoking homily. Drawing inspiration from the Gospel of Matthew and the timeless Parable of the Sower, Father Musendeki reminded the congregation that those who fail to grow in faith are like seeds that fall on rocks, unable to bear fruit.
​Directing his message to both Father Dzoma and the congregants, he emphasized a core truth: "You need to make informed decisions in order to be successful in your vocations, whether as a parent or as a Priest."
​Father Musendeki candidly noted that reaching twelve years as a shepherd is no small feat—it is impossible without the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Acknowledging the earthly challenges of the priesthood and how easily human chatter can surround a priest's life, he urged Father Dzoma to remain vigilant and deeply rooted in his divine purpose.
​Turning his teachings toward parents and guardians, Father Musendeki offered vital advice on raising the next generation. He reminded them to grant their children enough healthy freedom to make choices from a toddler age up until adulthood, nurturing them to become individuals capable of making sound, informed life decisions.

Honoring the Roots: Mr. Fore took the congregation down memory lane, briefly sharing the touching history of St. Pious Sedze. He reminded everyone of how the early community struggled from the ground up to build the structure, making today’s continuous stream of donations all the more meaningful.
​🔹 Flawless Ex*****on and A Bountiful Feast!
​An event is only as good as its coordinator, and Mr. Nyahanana Francis excelled as the Master of Ceremonies. Speaking softly, eloquently, and staying strictly to the point, he managed the time perfectly, keeping the celebration engaging and smooth.
​To wrap up a perfect day, the spirit of fellowship moved from the pews to the plates! The parishioners were filled with absolute happiness. A massive feast was prepared, and the community came together to eat, laugh, and share stories until their stomachs were happily bulging.
​Thank you to the Nyamupa family, the Matsapa family, our amazing priests, and every single parishioner who makes St. Pious Sedze a true home of faith! Onward and upward we build! 🕊️❤️

🔹 A Chain Reaction of Generosity
​The Nyamupa family's kindness is part of a growing wave of love for St. Pious Sedze. During the event, the Matsapa Family was also highly commended for answering the call. They initiated the church tiling project, which is now at an advanced stage, beautifully supported by the hands of all parishioners.
​Taking the stage, the Nyamupa family shared their journey of giving with humility, noting how a small sacrifice could bring so much dignity to the house of God. Moved by the community's overwhelming appreciation, they unexpectedly pledged to donate another 20 benches! In a humorous and inspiring twist, they laid down a friendly challenge to the priests: “We will bring the benches, now you must evangelize so the church is full!”
​🔹 Words of Wisdom and Spiritual Guidance
​The event was graced by an array of respected dignitaries, each bringing a unique blessing to the day:
​Father Nyatondo (Parish Priest of St. Gabriel): In his powerful homily, he expressed deep appreciation for every parishioner supporting church activities. He strongly emphasized the holy duty of maintaining church property, including the new benches. He drew a striking biblical reference to the moment Jesus cleared the temple, showing righteous anger when people mistreated His Father’s house.
​The Shepherd Among the People: While Father Dzoma and Mother Gertrude Bhobho joined the day's special celebrations, it was Brother Tapiwa Chikata who truly embedded himself in the community. Brother Chikata spent the entire week leading up to the event living at the outstation, dedicating precious days to walking alongside the parishioners, listening to them, and deeply getting to know.

A Day of Faith, Fellowship, and Boundless Generosity: St. Pious Sedze Outstation Shines Bright! ✨⛪
​July 05, 2026 will forever be etched in the hearts of the St. Gabriel’s Parish community as a truly wonderful day of celebration, reflection, and immense gratitude. Parishioners gathered at St. Pious Sedze, the main outstation of St. Gabriel’s, to witness a beautiful transformation driven by the power of community love and selflessness.
​🔹 The Spark of a Divine Challenge
​The atmosphere was charged with joy as the community welcomed back a familiar shepherd. Father Elijah Rubende, who was recently transferred from St. Gabriel to Murambinda to pursue his studies, returned as a guest speaker. It was Father Rubende who originally sowed the seeds for this beautiful day.
​In his moving speech, he recalled how he challenged current parishioners and their children living elsewhere to step up and build a better church for themselves.
​"I challenged parishioners and their kids who are former parishioners to donate to the church so that people will build a better church for themselves." — Father Elijah Rubende
​The Nyamupa Family wholeheartedly accepted that challenge. After visiting the church and noticing the poor state of the old seating, they made a heartfelt sacrifice to donate beautiful, comfortable new benches, ensuring the congregation can now sit comfortably while listening to the Word of God.

Faith Overcoming the Mountains: St Gabriel Men’s Fraternity Honors the Legacy of Sekuru Mukome

​True Christian devotion is not just lived in the comfort of a church pew; it is forged through sacrifice, community, and an unshakeable commitment to one another. This powerful truth was on full display as the Catholic Men’s Fraternity of St Gabriel journeyed through the misty heights of Bende to pay their final, heartfelt respects to an exceptional elder and pillar of faith: Sekuru Mukome.

​Sekuru Mukome, a deeply devoted Catholic who lived a long, blessed life of 92 years, recently went home to the Lord. As a revered chipangamazona (elder and guide) within the Men's Fraternity, his presence was a constant source of wisdom, and his passing leaves a profound legacy for younger generations to emulate.

​A Call to Readiness and Reflection

​The farewell began on Saturday, 20 June, at St Gabriel Parish, where a solemn burial Mass was celebrated. During the service, Father Dzoma delivered a stirring homily that resonated deeply with all in attendance. He gently but powerfully reminded the congregation that every human being has their own appointed time on this earth. As Christians, Father Dzoma emphasized, we must live with intentionality, continuously preparing our hearts and souls for the moment the Lord calls us home.

​The spiritual reflection continued into the Sunday service, where Mr Tsuro shared the Word of God with the gathered mourners. He spoke eloquently about the impactful life and lasting legacy of Sekuru Mukome, urging the community—and specifically the Men’s Fraternity—to carry forward the torch of faith that the late elder had held high for nearly a century.

​Evangelizing Through Action: Faith in the Chilly Heights

​What made this send-off a true testament to Christian brotherhood was the sheer determination of the St Gabriel Men’s Fraternity to be there for their departed brother, no matter the cost.
