COVID 19 is undeniably the major catastrophe this season worldwide and has potentially affected virtually all populations across the spectrum.

This pandemic has made the world economy to shrink and reversing the gains of the global economy.
As human trafficking thrives in the chaos and poverty, we are likely to have people opting to work in exploitative situations and places where there is inadequate protection.

The attempt by governments to contain the Covid-19 pandemic has brought its fair share of damage to various population groups.
The national lockdown as a way of controlling the disease, has left trafficked populations and those who are in exploitative situation in dire straits.

India and China account for the for the highest number of modern slaves worldwide and who knows how many of those people are dying of the disease and no one has bothered to report on them since they are slaves? There is a possibility that people in trafficked situations could be dying.
For instance, those that trapped in sexual exploitation are not producing from their pimps because of the low movement of people.
While this gives them relief for they have fewer or no clients to service their masters are mad at the lack of revenue.
The girls will have their rations reduced or made to starve since they are not working.

Many people exploitative situations like those in domestic servitude, have been locked down at the residences of the employers and they are working round the clock since they are not allowed to go out of the gates and the house. There is gross violation of human rights – the workers’ rights to rest and refresh is being infringed.

For people on the move, transiting are being subjected to unhealthy conditions as they are being taken via easier routes and some are made to stay in the jungle – a case in point being some Somalis who were found in the bushes of Gwanda hidden whilst their handlers are trying to find an escape route.

Women’s health
Covid-19 has affected the women health significantly, clinics are only attending to emergency cases and women on ante natal care and those seeking family planning methods are not being attended among others.
On the other hand, the tuckshops near homes are not operating and these are places where some women would normally dash to get pack of sanitary pads.
Diversity
According to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), one in five LGBTQ+ people lived in poverty and 40 percent of homeless youth identified as LGBTQ+ before COVID-19.
Less wealth translates directly into less of a cushion to weather a layoff. HRC research also showed LGBTQ+ workers are more likely to work jobs highly affected by quarantine orders compared to their non-LGBTQ+ counterparts. Lack of health care will only make matters worse.

🌹On the first day of their marriage, wife and husband agreed not to open the door for ANY visitor! That same day, the husband’s parents came to see them, and knocked on the door. Husband and the wife looked at each other... the husband wanted to open the door, but since they had an agreement, he did not, so his parents left. After a while, the same day, the wife’s parents came visiting. Wife and husband looked at each other, and even though they had an agreement, the wife with tears on her eyes whispered:- "I can’t do this to my parents", and she opened the door! Husband did not say anything. Years passed and they had 2 boys. Afterwards, they had a third child which was a girl. The father planned a very big and lavish party for the new born baby girl, and he invited everyone over. Later that night, his wife asked him what was the reason for such a big celebration for this baby, while we did not do so for the brothers! The Husband simply replied:- "because she is the one who will open the door for me!" Daughters are so special... your little girl will hold your hand for only a little while... but will hold your heart for a life time. It's 'DAUGHTER'S WEEK', and if you are a daughter OR have a daughter who makes life worth living, by just being around - and you love her as much as your own breath... if you are proud of your daughter, or being a daughter, send this to other people who have daughters or who are daughters.. as I just did...... Daughters are angels!🌹

The definition of human trafficking may be broken down into three separate parts;
The ‘Criminal Act’; an act of recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of person(s).
The ‘Means’ used to commit those acts must involve a threat or use of force, coercion, abduction, fraud, deception, abuse of power or vulnerability or giving payments or benefits to a person in control of the victim.
‘Exploitation’; includes the prostitution of others, including sexual exploitation, force labor, service, slavery or similar practices and the removal of organs
The United Nations Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, especially women and children has provided a global definition of human trafficking. It defines human trafficking as; “the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring or receipt of persons by means of threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power, or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation” (United Nations Protocol to Prevent, Suppress, and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children, 2000).

Good night dear friends.

There has been a lot of talk these days about human trafficking, the case of Zimbabwean women in Kuwait, and China, the Zim parly has opened a debate on this hot and complex issue.
Human trafficking or Traffic in Persons as it is technically known is a cplex crime that needs to be curbed. On the onset it is not easy to identify a victim let alone the perpetrators.

Taking the Zim example, the ladies where identified as victims in Kuwait but the process started in Zim by who?? Up to now, I am subject to be corrected, no one in zim has been arrested over the issue though some women have been brought back.

The million dollar question is ...who recruited them and whycsre they not naming the person or persons.

In the next couple of days I will run a series on TIP to bring awareness to our women and children
