How to Be Kept in Perfect Peace

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

Isaiah 26:3

You need the truth of God’s Word to uproot any wrong belief. This is why it’s so important to get into His Word and take time to meditate upon verses that reveal God’s unwavering and unfailing love for you. For instance, if you find your mind drifting into anxious thoughts over the smallest things, I encourage you to memorize and quote today’s scripture: “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isa. 26:3).

Whenever I feel stressed or worried about something, I pull away from life’s hustle and bustle and simply meditate on God’s promises. Sometimes I like to drive to a quiet park, and as gentle anointed music plays in my car, I feed on and speak His Word, allowing it to permeate my spirit: “God’s Word declares, ‘You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You.’” And I tell the Lord, “Yes, Lord, it is You who will keep me in perfect peace. Perfect peace comes from You. I just need to rest in Your grace and keep my mind on You. I don’t need to think about what to do about this challenge. As I trust in You and keep my mind stayed on You, You will lead me and guide me. My trust is not in my own strength, but in You and You alone, Jesus.”

What am I doing here? Instead of allowing stress and worry to get to me, I’m training my heart to see how God sees my challenges. The bigger God becomes in my heart, the smaller my challenges become. In fact, many times when I just relax and keep my mind on the Lord, His peace and wisdom begin to flow in me, and the challenge that I was previously so worried about becomes minute and inconsequential in the presence of Almighty God.

Are you faced with an insurmountable circumstance today? Learn to see what God sees by meditating on His Word, and let His peace drive out your anxiety in Jesus' name. Amen

CHILDREN AND PARENTING

That attitude of giving child a tablet while service is on to be playing games so they don’t disturb you is a time bomb! You are saying to them, its OK to not concentrate in church, you think you are trying to concentrate and don’t want them to distract you but you are giving them a mindset. It will form an attitude towards trivializing spiritual things in the future and by then it may be too late to correct.. Don’t ever think they do not understand what’s going on while the service is on, these children play very complicated games better than adults! If they can understand that, they can understand what Paul calls ”The Simplicity of the Gospel” The gaming can wait!

Another thing I find ludicrous is Parents who give their children ”loose change” for offering but spend heavily on their lunch just after the service is over.. There again you are saying, God doesn’t deserve anything big. You see that’s how you breed Atheists! That’s how you raise Adults who think the Holy Ghost is a Gut Feeling! Who think tithing is making the pastor a big boy! Train up a child in the way he should go.. When he is old he will not depart from it I may never be able to subscribe to all the parenting modules my Parents used for us while growing up, but you see this love for God? They got it right! My Father made sure we never missed a single midweek service while growing up. No matter how tired we were from school, he insisted, he compelled! Today, look what that training has done to me! Isaiah 28 vs 10 says ”For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little” Simple things are what form Character!

God bless you and your children bountifully in Jesus mighty name.

Borrowed from another post ....

There was a moment when Moses had the nerve to ask God what his name is. God was gracious enough to answer, and the name he gave is recorded in the original Hebrew as YHWH.

Over time we’ve arbitrarily added an “a” and an “e” in there to get YaHWeH, presumably because we have a preference for vowels.

But scholars and Rabbis have noted that the letters YHWH represent breathing sounds, or aspirated consonants. When pronounced without intervening vowels, it actually sounds like breathing.

YH (inhale): WH (exhale).

So a baby’s first cry, its first breath, speaks the name of God.

A deep sigh calls His name – or a groan or gasp that is too heavy for mere words.

Even an atheist would speak His name, unaware that their very breath is giving constant acknowledgment to God.

Likewise, a person leaves this earth with their last breath, when God’s name is no longer filling their lungs.

So when I can’t utter anything else, is my cry calling out His name?

Being alive means I speak His name constantly.
So, is it heard the loudest when I’m the quietest?

In sadness, we breathe heavy sighs.
In joy, our lungs feel almost like they will burst.
In fear we hold our breath and have to be told to breathe slowly to help us calm down.
When we’re about to do something hard, we take a deep breath to find our courage.

When I think about it, breathing is giving him praise. Even in the hardest moments!

This is so beautiful and fills me with emotion every time I grasp the thought. God chose to give himself a name that we can’t help but speak every moment we’re alive.

All of us, always, everywhere.
Waking, sleeping, breathing, with the name of God on our lips.

Seek First Jesus’ Righteousness

Therefore do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matthew 6:31–33

I encourage you to take some time each day to get the revelation of your righteousness in Christ deep into your spirit. Meditate on it and declare it every day. It will put courage in your heart and bring an unshakable peace to your soul. It will energize your faith when you pray and give you a confident expectation to receive good things from your heavenly Father.

I believe that’s why our heavenly Father, in knowing the things that we need daily, tells us not to worry about them. What are we supposed to do then? We are to seek first “His [Jesus’] righteousness”—the righteousness that He has given us—and all the things that we need will be added to us.

Beloved, when you know that your right standing with God always puts Him on your side, every fear will melt away like butter on a hot day. For if God is for you, who or what can successfully prevail against you.

He Satisfies You with Long Life

“With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”

Psalm 91:16

This is the most important verse in Psalm 91! If you ever had any doubt that God desires for you to live a long, good life, let this verse be your answer. You may be battling with a health condition right now, but by faith let’s hold fast to this verse together. In Jesus’ mighty name, I see you healed, healthy, and whole. I see you strong in Christ and ready to take on any giant that is ahead of you.

One of my favorite pictures of long life is found in the biblical character Caleb. When he was eighty-five years old, he said, “I am this day, eighty-five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war” (Josh. 14:10–11). The faith picture here of long life is not just in terms of quantity—the number of days—but also quality—health and strength. Caleb remained as strong at eighty-five as he was when he was forty-five. Which means in the last forty years in the harsh wilderness, his strength, youth, and vigor didn’t diminish. There was no leaking, no receding, and no fading away of his strength!

If perhaps you think that Caleb was just talking big, look at what he said nextNow therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said” (Josh. 14:12).

At eighty-five, Caleb was ready to fight with giants to gain possession of a mountain! And Caleb did as he said! Read the evidence for yourself: “Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel” (Josh. 14:14).

You were impressed when a teenage shepherd boy picked a fight with one giant named Goliath? We should be completely blown away by this eighty-five-year-old, who took on a whole mountain packed with giants! Caleb was zealous for the Lord’s glory. As far as he was concerned, there was unfinished business because the Lord had promised them the mountain forty years ago. My personal belief is that his biological clock stopped ticking and he basically stopped aging because he kept his eyes not on himself, but on the promises of the Lord. As you meditate on and find strength in God’s promises, the same can happen 4 u.

Be Full

“The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil. So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the crawling locust, the consuming locust, and the chewing locust."

Joel 2:24-25

God is a loving and gracious God. God desires to repay us for what the locusts, the devourers, have eaten. He wants us to have plenty so that we are full. He desires that we know that when we have been attacked, hurt, gone without, and had our stuff stolen, that He is capable of bringing about restoration and restitution.

To prove this, God performs His wonders in our life so that we will know that He alone is our God, our source. There is no one else we need to depend on. God does not want you to live in the shame of being in lack or want.

Lift up a praise to God! You are His child. He desires to bless you to overflowing, both in your daily sustenance and in your bounty, overflowing with joy.

Any day or night, just any time I can talk to him. How incredible!

Sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night, I pray until I drift back to sleep.

I also pray at other times during the day—in the car on the way home from errands, while preparing a meal, on a walk through the neighborhood, etc.

I’m sure that many of you also pray during your normal daily activities, but have you ever stopped to think how very incredible that is?

If I wanted to talk to my best friend about something that wasn’t urgent, I wouldn’t feel comfortable calling her in the middle of the night.

If I wanted to talk to my pastor, I wouldn’t expect him to drop whatever he was doing to talk to me.

If I wanted to talk to someone famous or important like the leader of a country, it wouldn’t be possible.

But anytime night and day, I can talk to the Creator of the world, the wisest, most loving Being in the universe, the source of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3). And He knows me better than anyone else because He knit me together in my mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13-17), prepared plans for my life (Ephesians 2:10), and even knows the number of hairs on my head (Luke 12:7)!

Think about it! It's incredible!

THIS HIT ME HARD.

Have you ever noticed how in the scriptures men are always going up into the mountains to commune with the Lord?

Yet in the scriptures we hardly ever
hear of women going to the mountains.
But we know why — right?

Because the women were too busy
keeping life going;
they couldn’t abandon babies,
meals,
homes,
fires,
gardens,
and a thousand responsibilities to make the climb into the mountains!

I was talking to a friend the other day,
saying that as modern woman
I feel like I’m never “free” enough
from my responsibilities,
never in a quiet enough space
I want with God.

Her response floored me,
“That is why God comes to women.
Men have to climb the mountain to meet God, but God comes to women where ever they are.”

I have been pondering on her words for weeks and have searched my scriptures
to see that what she said is true.
God does in deed come to women
where they are,
when they are doing their ordinary,
everyday work.

He meets them at the wells
where they draw water for their families,
in their homes,
in their kitchens,
in their gardens.

He comes to them
as they sit beside sickbeds,
as they give birth,
care for the elderly,
and perform necessary mourning and burial rites.

Even at the empty tomb,
Mary was the first to witness Christ’s resurrection,
She was there because she was doing the womanly chore of properly preparing Christ’s body for burial.

In these seemingly mundane
and ordinary tasks,
these women of the scriptures found themselves face to face with divinity.

So if — like me — you ever start to bemoan the fact that you don’t have as much time to spend in the mountains with God as you would like. Remember, God comes to women. He knows where we are and the burdens we carry. He sees us, and if we open our eyes and our hearts we will see Him, even in the most ordinary places and in the most ordinary things.

He lives. And he’s using a time such as this to speak to women around the world.

Bathsheba was not responsible for King David’s temptation.

King David abused his power to abuse Bathsheba.

Growing up in the church, the narrative I learned about King David’s sin heavily emphasized Bathsheba’s immodesty, which made King David all the more weak in temptation.

These retellings always concluded with the righteousness of King David’s repentance, leaving Bathsheba as the immodest temptress, carrying equal blame for the tragic consequences of sin that would follow.

When in reality, a more truthful reading of the biblical narrative, as the prophet Nathan lays out for us later, is that King David was a vo**ur, objectified another man’s wife, then used his position of power to victimize an innocent woman, who had no way of refusing the commands of the king. He then murdered her husband, “eliminating” him to cover up his tracks.

Imagine how Christians would respond to
sexual abuse in our ranks if we had been
taught that the Prophet Nathan modeled
true leadership because he risked his life
by rebuking the king for his abuses of
power instead of being endlessly taught that King David is the model for leadership.

The unfortunate truth is, the common narrative of the Christianity of my youth, as well as current prominent Christian social media influencersďżź, continue to emphasize and demand women to be modest as if it is their responsibility to not cause their brothers to stumble into temptation.

This isn’t anywhere close to what Jesus says in his own words on the topic to his male disciples:

“But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.” Matthew 5:28-29

Jesus didn’t place the responsibility of temptation on women, but on the observer who uses their eyes, their mind, and their heart lustfully.
