GRACE BEFORE THE CROSS

Romans 4 verse 3-8

Abraham was far from perfect.There were times when he trusted the Egyptians before he trusted God.He even lied, telling Pharaoh that his wife was his sister.But Abraham made one decision that changed his eternal life: He "believed God,and it was accounted to him for righteousness."(ROMANS 4:3)
Here is a man justified by faith before his circumcision, before the law and even before Moses and the Ten Commandments.Here is a man justified by faith before the Cross,And that means the sin covering blood of Calvary extends as far into the past as it does into the future.
Abraham is not the only Old Testament hero to cast himself upon God's grace.......We must not see grace as a provision made after the law had failed,No..! .Grace was offered before the law was revealed.Indeed,grace was offered before man was created! (1 PETER 1:18-20)

The "AGAPE" kind of LOVE.

HOSEA 1 verse 1-8.
HOSEA 3 verse 1-5.
JOHN 3 verse 16.

God will not let you go.He has handcuffed himself to you in love.And He owns the only key.You need not win His love.You already have it.And since you can't win it,you can't lose it.

As evidence , consider the case of Hosea.700 years before the birth of JESUS ,God commanded Hosea to marry a pr******te named Gomer.(If her profession didn't get you,her name would).Still Hosea obeyed.Gomer gave birth to three children, none of whom were Hosea's.Gomer abandoned Hosea for a life equivalent to a call girl at a strip club.Rock bottom came in the form of an auction pit,where men bid on her as a slave.Lesser men would have waved her off.But not Hosea.He jumped into the bidding and bought his wife and took her home again.

The stubborn love of Hosea for Gomer.Contrary to the name,Gomer was a female,an irascible woman married to a remarkable Hosea.She had the fidelity code of a prairie jackrabbit, flirting and hopping from one lover to another.She ruined her life and shattered Hosea's heart.
Destitute,she was placed for sale in a slave market.Guess who stepped forward to buy her? Hosea!.The way he treated her you would have thought she had never loved another man.
God uses this story,indeed orchestrated this drama, to illustrate His steadfast love for His fickle people...

This is the love described in JOHN 3 verse 16 .Agape love.Less an affection, more a decision.Less a feeling, more an action....
