It is absolutely shameful that an elected Member of Parliament like Nomsa Chaimvura can stand in Parliament and tell citizens “Hazvinei newe” — meaning “none of your business” — when asked legitimate questions about public matters. Even more outrageous is her claim that “salaries are not discussed in Parliament” as if this dismisses the public’s right to hold their leaders accountable.
This is the kind of arrogance that makes us question whether ZANU-PF truly respects the people it claims to serve. Is this the leadership we want to reward by extending MPs’ terms by another two years? A party that protects and promotes MPs who openly mock, dismiss, and insult citizens is a party that is actively disgracing Zimbabwe.
Zimbabweans deserve leaders who listen, engage, and take responsibility, not ones who believe they are above scrutiny. Nomsa Chaimvura’s behavior is a glaring example of the entitlement and contempt for ordinary citizens that is now being normalized in Parliament. ZANU-PF must stop using arrogance and intimidation as a substitute for governance. Until such MPs are held accountable, our democracy is at risk, and our nation continues to suffer.
