📖 Step out of the boat

> 📖 Matt. 14:29 — “So He said, ‘Come.’ And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.”

I would like to believe that during the years of Jesus’ earthly ministry, He and His disciples made countless journeys by boat. Some of those journeys were recorded in Scripture, while many others were probably never recorded because there was nothing extraordinary about them that would help us in our journey of faith.

But this particular journey was different.

It was remembered because Jesus walked on water, and Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water towards Jesus.

Peter could have remained in the boat like everyone else. The boat was safe. The boat was familiar. The boat was comfortable. But Peter dared to do something that required faith. He stepped out of the boat.

And that is what made him memorable.

You and I may not be remembered for staying in the boat. We will be remembered for stepping out of it.

The same principle applies to the construction of the Cathedral of Grace.

Every brick counts.

We will not necessarily be remembered for simply buying the number of bricks that everyone expects us to be able to buy. We will be remembered for going the extra mile. We will be remembered for that step of faith. We will be remembered for that sacrifice. We will be remembered for doing something beyond what people thought we were capable of doing.

We will be remembered for stepping out of the boat.

Where everyone knows you are able to buy one brick, surprise them by buying three.

Where everyone knows you are able to buy ten bricks, step out of the boat and buy fifteen.

Where everyone knows you are able to buy one hundred bricks, take a greater step of faith and buy two hundred.

Do not simply do what is expected of you. Go beyond the expectation.

Peter was not remembered because he stayed in the boat. He was remembered because he heard the words of Jesus — “Come” — and had the courage to step out.

As we build the Cathedral, may we also hear the call of God and respond with faith.

Every brick counts. Every sacrifice counts. Every step of faith counts.

One day, when the Cathedral stands completed, there will be a history behind it. And in that history, will be the names and sacrifices of men and women who did not remain in the boat.

May your brick be part of that history.

STEP OUT OF THE BOAT.
TAKE THAT STEP OF FAITH.
GO BEYOND EXPECTATIONS.
BUILD HIS HOUSE.

📖A MIND TO BUILD

📖 Neh. 4:6 — “So we built the wall, and the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.”

What made the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem a success was not that the people had an abundance of resources. It was not because they had unlimited finances or because wealthy benefactors suddenly appeared from nowhere.

The difference was simple: the people had a mind to work.

They were determined to build. They were committed to the assignment. They each played their part, using whatever they had, and together, they accomplished what initially seemed impossible.

We see the same principle in the Book of Haggai. The rebuilding of the House of God had stalled—not because the people had nothing but because their priorities had shifted. They were busy building and beautifying their own houses while the House of God remained in ruins.

But when the people considered their ways and God stirred their hearts, something changed. They developed a heart and a mind to work. And when they began to work on the House of God, the work moved forward.

The lesson for us is clear.

The building of the Cathedral of Grace does not necessarily require a few wealthy people to come from overseas or from within Zimbabwe carrying briefcases full of money.

What we need is a people with a mind to build.

We need the sons and daughters, partners, friends of the Prophets, and well-wishers of this ministry to look at the work before us and say:

“I may not have much, but I have something. And what I have, I will use to build the House of God.”

If everyone waits for a “knight in shining armour” to appear on the horizon, the work will wait with us.

But when each one of us puts our mind to the work, gives what we can, and faithfully plays our part, the seemingly impossible becomes possible.

The Cathedral will not be built by spectators.
It will be built by people who have a mind to work.

WE HAVE A MIND TO WORK — AND WE WILL BUILD!

📖 ONE VISION

> 📖Gen. 11:6 – “And the LORD said, ‘Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.’”

There was a time when people journeyed to the east and came to the plain of Shinar. There, they decided to build a city and a tower whose top would reach into the heavens.

Although their purpose was not right before God, there is something remarkable about their unity. They were one people. They spoke one language, and they were united around one objective.

Their unity created such momentum in their project that God Himself came down to see what they were doing.

The lesson here is not that God approved of the Tower of Babel, but that unity of purpose, communication, and collective effort can produce tremendous results.

They were not pulling in different directions.

They were not speaking different languages.

They were not working against one another.

They were one. They spoke one language. They worked towards one objective.

And this is the principle we must embrace as we build the Cathedral of Grace.

If we are going to successfully complete this great project, we must speak the same language, speak with one voice and remain united in purpose.

ONE LANGUAGE.
ONE VOICE.
ONE PURPOSE.
ONE VISION.
ONE CATHEDRAL.

TOGETHER, WE WILL BUILD HIS HOUSE.
